The image quality of the 5D mk2 is better IMO but the BIG problem is the focus which has to be made before you press record and then stays locked, while the GH1 comes with a lens that has the continuous focus.
It's a big step forward.
You can bet in less than a year many other dslr will come with the same feature!

Well I was concerned about the GH1 and low light (sunset). Mainly because if they grab a grid of pixels rather than grabbing all and resizing that it would be a problem. Seem like its the later.
Oh, beautiful work. You should get paid for this stuff. Oh, way you do. Thanks Phiilip for the GH1 video. If you can do some shallow DOF work also, that would be great to see.
If these DSLR's get any better, they could signal the end to camcorders.

Lumix GH-1 kit currently priced at $1500.- with 14-140mm (28-280 equivalent) lens at B&H. Almost always out of stock.
Canon 5D MK2. Kit with 24-105mm sells at $3500.- at B&H. Heavier, bulkier than GH-1. Video quality comparable to HG-1.
This makes GH-1 sounds like a great bargain.
