PES 2009 will make history. I played a demo just minute ago, I am very satisfied. Even PES 2008 was terrible optimized, on the recommended PC PES 2008 was terrible laggy, that's why I didn't play it. But as I see PES 2009 will be my top favourite PC game. Football rules on PC. Just look FIFA 09. FIFA09 has pretty high system requirements (when you compare sys req with FIFA08) but nothing is really new in game play and even in graphic. EA is releasing games like food. This is crap. Konami rules!

PES 2008 was a huge disappointment for me. I rented it for PS3, and it just feels too different from the PS2 versions. Why do you dribble so fast when you run with the ball? Despite Konamis claims, it's very unrealistic. I've seen footage from this years version, and it looks the same. That's why I'll be getting a FIFA game for the 2nd year in a row. I have PES 3, 4, 5, 6 and 2008 for PS2, and those were great, but it looks like it's FIFAs turn now to dominate for a few years.

It sold better, because the general public are idiots. They'll buy the Wall-E game, the Hellboy game, etc, because the film wasn't bad and they want more of the characters. Don't get me wrong, I still like PES, but there's a few areas that need to be drastically overhauled, like the dribbling animations and the passing. I guess another reason I chose FIFA is because the manager mode is much more in depth than the Master League.

uh, that depends. In terms of gameplay I would still go with PES as it feels more real (08 at least). I had both in PS3 and while I agree PES 2008 was a HUGE disappointment I thought FIFA 08 was utter crap. FIFA 09 though is much better than 08 and I like what I see on the demo so far (there are deficits there too but EA did make the improvements). As for which one's better, Idk, it could be more of a preference kind of thing but I personally would go with PES.

FIFA 08, for me, was more satisfying to play. Even in the replays, PES lagged like a dead donkey, which seemed strange. The other PES games didn't have anything remotely like that. FIFA had a good management mode, having to balance your budget for player wages, ground improvements, etc, and PES hasn't advanced at all in the Master League. From what I've played of PES 2008, and seen of PES 2009, it looks pretty much the same to me. I don't like the new direction PES is going in.

that's weird. Mine doesn't really lag except for once or twice. I think there's no denying FIFA's better in that regards, but I play PES primarily for the gameplay. The "be a Legend" mode is a nice addition though.

Also, I don't know if it's the gameplay level or it's just this way, but don't you think it's way too easy to score in FIFA 09? Don't really mind that too much when playing against a COM b/c you get to dominate, but it can be annoying when playing a friend lol

On each replay, PES lurches horribly. Magazines have even written some guides to stop that from happening, eg changing the pitch to a basic one, turning off commentary, etc. @ FIFA Too easy? I don't think so. I've only got the demo, another 3 days until it comes out I think, but on Intermediate, it's quite hard. On Easy, you'll just walk the game 3-0. It's pretty much the same as FIFA 08, most of the goals you will score are tap-ins. I've had a few long range goals, but they're very rare.

Oh, whoops. I meant with the goalkeeper. I didn't know you could change the difficulty setting on the demo but with whatever default setting I scored 5-6 goals a game with Kaka (Be A Pro) and I thought the freekicks were also too easy to score (easier than PES at least).

As it is I'll go with PES 09 unless PES 09 just goes unearthly wrong. Either way though, my opinion has no more authority than yours so have fun with FIFA :)

I personally love football (soccer), and is my favourite sport. But you have a couple of good points. 1) The contact. Yes it is a non-contact sport but some players (especially my beloved Christiano Ronaldo) are way too soft. And it is a slower pace than Ice hockey, but you can't compare the two they are different kinds of sports.

Oh, and I LOVE hockey now! I recently got into it after playing the NHL 09 demo.
