I love this song. I had to throw away the first song I ever wrote because I realized it was too much like it. Someday, hopefully far into the future, I will find out that Ray or Dave paassed on and I will lock myself in a room with a bottle of Whiskey and all my old Kinks records and I will spend the whole day celebrating / lamenting their life and passing. Their music is very personal to me, I feel like they are my friends. They speak to me. Long live The Kinks !

This song is so sad, because it tells the story of why I'm such a "misfit," being that I spend my life in a "rock n' roll fantasy." I'm sure that many of you can relate. Wanting to avoid people and reality by blasting your stereo until the speakers crack, drawing rock idols, rock logos, and rockstar cartoons; i think that's my calling in life.

Our local High School put on a year end Musical using the music of the Kinks "Schoolboy Days" but they Titled it "Skool Daze" My son Pete Robinson played the lead role of Stephen Jack. How prophetic, the story was about the lad who's sole aim in life was to become a rock star. Fast forward 28 years and Pete Robinson is Lead Guitarist for Electric Mary and also for Russell Morris and Brian Cadd.

Third, and almost first would be "Only a Dream" It was first when I had a girl I thought about it in that way.(ex wife) I guess she didn't see it that way. Then, of course, Lola.
