This is so addictive I bet I can watch them go on for hours! But why do they go in circles? Do they get any smarter over time? (I'm new to this program)
I have been working on a similar program on pc where the different states of polys (creatures) are shown in different colours dark colours are male female colours are light
red fighting
blue sleeping
green eating
orange breeding
purple idling
yellow searching
and where polys travel to different floor levels to do different activities and needs
for instance a poly that needs light will travel to the top floor and one that needs rest will travel to the basement.
I'm trying to make a similar thing now, using Python (a programing language). If you want any info or you have suggestions, feel free to PM me. Also what is this music playing?
This is a simulation of evolution of living creatures especially of their brains' structures. Squares on the plane represents these creatures wandering around. Brown stripes are obstacles. On the top of the screen there are squares that show what these creatures are seeing at the moment. They see their 2D world in 1D. We see our 3D world in 2D (3D is only illusion). The most interesting thing about this particular program are creatures brain. Go to wikipedia for more details.
@B3nn1994 No, but it points you to an awesome artificial life simulation program - Polyworld. It's not my program. If you want more information search in your favourite search engine, on youtube, or visit the website I've given link to in the video description.
@mikex222 You can install linux on VM software or as dual boot system. It's really easy actually. Installing Polyworld is somehow more difficult unfortunately, but even I managed to do that ;)

@brutaka359 Yes, they get smarter over time. This is just the initial state.

I just got this working on Ubuntu. Do you know how to edit the world and such? Also, what are the little red things that appear randomly?

@supersmashbrosevil They are really evolving. What's evolving is their brain structure and visionary system.

i wish they made software like this for windows...
i know they have been trying to convert it to windows for yrs now... they just simply cant figure out how.
mikex222 2 years ago
perhaps windows is incompatible with intelligence, human or artificial? more likely that they just don't care much about porting it.

i cant run this for some reason and they all look drunk, goin in circles like that

I had to search quite a bit for a way ot install it on Ubuntu with 64bit. Unfortunately I can't remember which combination of solutions worked for me.
They are going in circles because this is just a beginning of simulation. When they learn more they move much more seemingly deliberately.
