try a different browser so it downloads a ipsw file instead of a zip file

Thanks for responding. Bear with me since I haven't done this in a while but after I do a restore... Do I then 'restore from the backup' and afterwards jb it with redsnow? I mean how exactly do I use the restore back up feature? Do I use it before or after jb? Keep in mind the backup I made from itunes is a recent one with an existing jb.

i'm on 4.1 right now on a itouch 4g... I originally jb on limerain and have stayed on 4.1 since. I haven't done it in quite a while because I don't want to part with my app data. Any who, should I jb over with redsnow or should I restore? I'm assuming restoring is the best way to go but is there anyway I can keep my existing app data/ game saves after restoring?

I just created a backup with itunes while on the current fw that Im on and transfered all my purchases. Does tit help and can I use it
