its weird, our high school is doing the same and we cut out a lot of what you did especially in the 3rd movement, and for me being in the mellophone section we got rid of French Horns in the beginning; its now just mellophone solos. Really great show (Or what the people on YouTube could see.

dont worry about the french horn cut, haha, i play Horn/ Mellophone in the Penn band, and well, frankly, we fracked that part just about everytime we played it. it is kinda of hard to get 10 people to play a slur from a D to high G and back without at LEAST one person fracking

our highschool is doing 'Amazing Innovation' for a competition similar to the ISSMA and DCI. we are, as far as i know, all of the movements and just got movement 3 today. wish us luck!! =P

about agresive, if you didn't know what we are doing this year already, since its penn's 50th? annaverssary its pretty much a war between brass and woodwinds, we are like halfway through part 3, and the picninc is tomorrow, we are doing part/ movments 1 and 2, its super agressive hah.

The French Horns (they do play an actual french horn there then switch to mello) needed to play out a bit more... it's their moment. But hey, a soft section like that can't be too big. I know many of the people in that section, it's a great group.

Yeah, I'd agree with you. The horns are all good, but the jumps were weird and they needed to be more confident with it. Plus their bells aren't exactly facing the best place to be hears, haha. But it's over with now, and it wasn't too bad.

I would think 1:58 to 2:13 would have done nothing but put the band on the music judges' good side. That section displayed the bands' great tone and strength in its low brass section. And the swell at the end of the section was crisp and mature.

Penn Has a really good sound that is emense do to the size of the band and great tone and depth and quality of sound. I think that if Penn did more agressive shows musically and visually they would be a consistent contender to win Class A state.Of course Avon would have to be taken down first and that hasn't happened in 7 years.So Penn winning would set a precident on many levels. Anyway If they would design their shows at a level that would put them in the running to win state they could do it!
