What I find unusual is that the movie is about a Spanish-speaking fascist leader getting overthrown, and they were allowed to film it in Spain (then under Franco)!
a legend on his own time.....Sergio Leone......a very nice film...with a very very nice...scoring......kudos to Ennio......to both of them and the stars....
Funnily enough I had a picnic next to the remains of this bridge a week ago during a geology project on the riverbed there, never imagined it was from this film.
that explosion is beast...you don't see realistic explosions like that anymore lol, too dangerous for actors and what not. i'm surprised another chunk of rock didn't hit stieger in this one lol
continued... Sergio went over the story with Morricone very carefully and he would produce the music around the story, mood and feel. Brilliant. A director filming to the musical score. They are both my heroes.
Very Excellent Herve. Well done! One of my favorite movies. It made a huge impression on me as a pre teen. I think I saw it in 72 or 73. The scene in the cave where Juan discovers his family slain... wow. And Morricone did an incredible job for that scene. Ennio + Sergio = magic. Did you know, they were one of a rare collaboration where often the score was done before the film was made.
Thank you so very much for your effort. I and my g/f cannot express our appreciation enough for the extra enjoyment you've brought to one of our favorite movies.
Top bloody work on all your videos. They're no doubt painstaking labours of love, but are simply joys to watch for any lover of film. Just watching this video is enough to make me as giddy as a schoolboy, so god knows what the actual pilgrimage would be like.
Superb job HerveAttia. You have made a mini masterpiece here, and I really like how you managed to slip your own footage (I presume?) of the location into the original footage.
My favourite film ever. Call me sad but it just about sums up everything - the good the bad the stupidity and the ridiculousness of all the conflicts in the world. Yes it's only a badly acted western with a dodgy irish accent to boot but can make me cry every time.
This movie makes me sad because of the music and the memories that John has of life in Ireland with the Beautiful Young Lass he left behind to save himself from British Vengeance.
It was interesting to see the Bridge as it is now.
