  • I'd rather have a Mazda3.

  • I could see why the srt4 is mostly known as the neon, this thing is ugly

  • i wish i can add this badass body kit to my caliber. cost $600 and thats not before tax and labor :(

  • Don't you love how close American car companies get to being awesome? Two more driven wheels...

  • KBB u guys are idiots, this is a HATCHBACK not a wagon, it even says in the manual and off the dodge website

  • @bigfitz1992 It fits under three catagories actually. By definition, it is a wagon, a hatchback, and a crossover.

  • ugly as shit

  • mazdaspeed3 a cheap competitor, that doge is a piece of junk, and it fugly as hell!

  • Looks like a cheeseburger.

  • I absolutely love this car. It has been a blast to drive. I wish they would bring it back with an improved interior. I know reviews talk about how it has a bad interior quality, or whatever, but I am at 52,000 miles with mine and have yet to have any problems. (knock on wood) nothing has come loose, or rattles noises. I have had to just tighten the wing on the back and replace all the struts, but that is normal every 50,000 miles. I think this car is very well built and has been underated.

  • i love this car and would have it, i just dont like back... but that can be forigven. and unfortunately, germany and europe is always ahead of the competition, sorry.

  • poorly disguised intercooler? their not supposed to be hidden?

  • You guys are funny, probably 95% of you have never driven a NSRT-4 or a CSRT-4. I have driven and owned both. I currently own an 09 and I have just the Mopar Intake and Mopar Stage 1 and I LOVE it! Before you go bashing on a car drive one first, I can tell you that with 20k miles on the Cali I haven't had 1 problem, no squeeks, rattles or anything, My best 0-60 before stage 1 was 5.8 I'm hoping to go for a 5.5 or 5.6 with stage 1. They look a lot better in person, like I said.... drive one

  • @srt4yomama i agree, like i said on here already, in germany the srt-4 has quite a reputation among "smaller budget performance oriented 4-banger enthusiast" i have seen some SRT4s beating the shit out of audi S3s and VW Gold GTIs (even the bigger 6 cylinder R32s) Audi TTs and the likes, once those realize they lost on the road they start talking interior quality :D unfortunately it is that many germans/europeans like to believe themselves as always ahead of anything with wheels from america.

  • With the stock srt4 turbo can you hear and BOV sounds ?

  • I hope Fiat tells Chrysler to bring the SRT-4 back, they offered alot of bang for your buck.

  • @brandonnnnn100 wtf are you talking about??

  • dont like the way it look :0

  • it seemed to be good, but it is not longer in production, why?..what that means?: too bad to stay in production, or too good to be sold?

  • Rip srt4 caliber

  • maybe if it was in reasonable size for a tuner car, like a Chevy HHR size.

its a decent looking car really, but its like a GTR, it just appears real BLOATY and Fat.

  • i would like it more if it wasn't so low down. :(

  • An SRT Caravan would be so bad ass.

  • It shoud have xenon lights when its so new. but i like the car.

  • Im a honda guy to the core. but if i honestly had to choose between this and a new civic si, id take the SRT4. looks cool and its turbo!!!

  • Seriously quick ?? I wish they would show it being 'seriously quick' !

  • srt6 for an avenger is whats need and dont make it a fuckin sedan...

  • I have an srt 4 neon and i love it :)

  • I am a Doge guy, I own a Charger R/T with a few mods, I test drove a SRT4 Caliber and really I was not impressed at all. Things l liked, Roomy, useful hatch back, aggressive look and frim handling. Things I didnt like, Shifter on the dash, sluggish take off (might have been cus it was not fully warmed up) I was not impressed at all with its performance.

  • @Albee213 I am a Dodge guy, and I've owned several SRTs. I've driven Charger R/Ts, and am still not impressed at all. I don't like anything about it. Too big, too wallowly, and for the price too damned slow. The steering was numb, the interior was a joke, and the depreciation was horrible. Add to that an automatic that shows it's age (and no manual option), and it's just a horrible, horrible car.

  • @toasteroven2001 I just have one word... "NEON". You can slap a turbo on it, and spoiler and Nitro and its still a NEON. I paid about 30k for my Charger and with a few minor mods it does over 160mph and I have crushed several "NEON SRT4" on the street due to their terrible front wheel drive traction and besides that, no one has ever laughed at my car! Everyone laughs when they see a NEON!

  • i dont know why anybody would buy one of these over a mazdaspeed 3 or a GTI or even a Cobalt SS

  • @ecurules you must be kidding, yes i think you are

  • @ecurules because it's faster, has more power, more features and is more practical than those cars.

  • @ecurules Because the Speed3 is overpriced and fragile, the GTI is small and slow, and the Cobalt SS is built with scotch tape and tinfoil. The Caliber SRT may not be pretty, but the SRTs are engineered well, last long, and make great power with minimal bucks.

  • @toasteroven2001 "small and slow" wtf does that mean? small? lightweight cars will always handle better. and how the MS3 overpriced and not well built. the speed3 was virtually the same price and included a true limited slip diff in addition to an advance touque limiting system used to limit the amount of tourque steer. the srt4 appeals to 12 year old kids many of who love the suv looks. and as far as the extra power it doesn't matter FWD cars can only be so fast and the Mazda is not any slower

  • @ecurules All my points stand because they are FACTS, not opinions. The GTI IS smaller and slower, but heavy. The MS3 IS overpriced - for that $ you can get a WRX or Ralliart, and the engines won't fall out. The SE-R SpecV has an LSD, and it's MUCH cheaper.

And if you're curious as to how fast a more powerful FWD car can go, look no further than the Focus RS. You're just another dumbfuck American who doesn't know WTF they're talking about. So just save us all the agony, and shaddap.

  • @toasteroven2001 the ralliart is too heavy, the ralliart weighs like 3600 LBs. the mazda speed3 is a much more advanced engine (direct injection) and I really dont understand why you think the mazda will fall apart. my point is the caliber is not a good car. its just another case of dodge just throwing more power in a bad car to try to make it appealing. i dont know how the caliber better than the cobalt, really please explain. it is much faster even if is just as cheap inside

  • I really just wish this was AWD

  • if they made it a 3door hatch it would be better but the neon srt4 is awesome

  • @XxJhate isn't the neon SRT4 a Neon?

  • I am a 45 yr old car junkie that grew up with 60's musclecars. I would do just about anything to score one of these gems. Just like my Shelby GLHS.

  • This is the TRUE successor to the legendary Dodge Omni GLH Turbo and Shelby GLH-S. Nuff said !

  • what about my ipod?

  • Performance wise this is not up to par with the last gen neon SRT, but it is bigger has more room and is a more practical car to live with. It is still a great value for the money.

  • very ugly, only suburbin white boys will drive this. you will not find no blacks or asians or city white boys driving this crap

  • @acuratlnigga probly cause they couldn't afford one

  • Of course make the fucking ugliest car they have into the new SRT-4... Couldent pick something sportier and not so much like a fukin mini van or lezbaru.

  • if this isnt the ultimate ricer car i dont know what is

  • @destroct this isnt a ricer car ....

  • @destroct honda prelude

  • @destroct then you don't know much do you

  • i hope they remake the srt-4 neons soon but in a 2 door version, much lighter

  • I'm 18 and i'm thinking about buying this truck from the dodge compagny so i guess the amount per month is only around 230$. For the people who drove this, i want to know what the bad things about this truck? Does it take up fuel and since it's over 230 horsepower i bet the insurance cost a lot? please reply and thank you.

  • @yoomgitsme Its not a truck

  • @TheRedneckWonder it sure does look like a half car and half truck. lol

  • I drove one of these new, and it was almost as fun as my supercharged trans am

  • When I first saw this on the road, I thought wow, SRT-4. The number 4 for something that looks like it should have a V6 or a V8 in it in the first place. This thing looks like an SUV, so it really should've gotten AWD but NOOO, FWD. Great. I wonder if anyone is willing enough to do a MIVEC swap or even an AWD train swap into this beast. Hell, the block is made from the same company, the tranny should bolt right up to the block. Even the MIVEC head.

  • @PiroFyre SRTs are monsters from a roll. Thanks, but I'll take the 8-10k price difference and leave it FWD. That's part of it's brutal charm.

  • @toasteroven2001 Not hating the SRT. Hell, if I start hating SRT-4s, I MUST hate the Evo X because it's the same motor but I don't. Just the 2.4L to a FWD is a bad combo. You have to buy really good tires to be good. Even from a 20 roll, you floor it and the wheels will start spinning. Knowing the streets, no one spends money on good tires nowadays and they're losing so much traction.

I love the look of the Caliber SRT-4 but knowing it's only FWD on something that looks like that, I'll pass

  • I'm disappointed in this review. I want to know how the braking is. They don't look too impressive. In fact, they look kind of ghetto. If they were gonna give you colored calipers, why not make them look like they're gonna bleed speed instead of just bleed from speeding?

Outside of meeting most of today's standards a sport compact car should have in terms of luxuries, I don't see how this is much of an improvement over the old Neon SRT4. It's WHP is my favorite aspect of this car.

  • @LostChildOfTime The braking is pretty good for a 4 door vehicle. I think its under 120 feet from 60 - 0. However, in the real world, the brakes are amazing you'll never need more then 1/3 or your face will get a close up of the dash.

  • @LostChildOfTime

The Neon Srt4 had godly perfoemance for it's HP, I don't think this is an improvement. But FOt the price it is a very good deal.

  • Dodge should make an SRT 6 for the midsize v6 avenger.

  • @adogg619

Chrysler did make an srt 6 it is known as a crossfire. Even though it was never badged as such it is well known as Chryslers(Dodge) only srt6 vehicle.

  • @uke83 the crossfire base was not an srt-6 and yes some of them were badged as srt-6

  • @adogg619 that would be disrespectful to the amazing crossfire srt 6

  • @gilljames10

    Why disrespectful?

I'm just saying they could use one or two 6 cylinder cars with the SRT badge.

Not everyone can afford an SRT8 with its 6.1 L engine. Sure it's very powerful, but a little more pricey and one hell of a gas guzzler.

  • @adogg619 the SRT6 was the Crossfire

  • @adogg619 I AGREE THEY SHOULD MAKE A SRT V6 DODGE AVENGER

  • @adogg619 hell ya dude thy could put like a turbo or procharger in it

  • @adogg619 Special Race Team already made a v6, seen in the Crosfire SRT-6.

  • @slapstikz199 the srt6 engine was taken from the slk320 benz. The crossfire is basically a slk320, with a different body, and stiffer suspension

  • @slapstikz199 Wrong on both accounts. The SRT-6 engine was made by Mercedes, and the car was on a Mercedes platform. Also, SRT is NOT Special Race Team. It's Street & Racing Technology.

  • @thechaser1985 Touche on the acronym, the engine is a MOPAR sourced version of the mercedees M112AMG. A 3.2 liter supercharged v-6. In short the engine is rebaged SRT because of in house performance modification.

  • @slapstikz199 he didn't say an srt v6, he said an srt-6 Avenger

  • @slapstikz199 "Special Race Team" uhhh i think you mean street and race technology

  • @adogg619 They should have made an coupe too, with an SRT-6 trim.

  • @adogg619 that would be cool

  • The Caliber isn't ugly, I'd say weird instead. It's not like it's unatractive looking. You want a butt-ugly car, check out the Chevrolet HHRSS, it looks like an upsidedown boat, sort of like a Chrysler PTCruiser, butt-ugly.

  • yup but you can love it or you can hate it!! no medium lol

  • Exterior is hard to swallow

  • ha wtf they said kicker audio but the speaker said boston

  • surprised they actually said anything good about this car.

  • Why is that?

I mean sure its a dodge but from other than that, looks all right

  • @Ge0vone it's just a poorly executed vehicle. the torque steer is absolutely retarded. worse than an eclipse v6. it's just a very unnecessary car. mazdaspeed 3 has torque steer but it makes this thing look so ahhhh I JUST HATE the caliber lol :S

  • ha! i do too, its not my favorite vehicle for sure

  • the caliber doesnt come standard with the 4cd radio with aux.. mine has a 6cd radio.

  • SOMEBODY FUCKIN TELL ME PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!! I saw fast and the furious 6 years ago and I wanted to know ever since!!!!!

  • well, it was term conjured long ago when V8's ruled the road and fuel ran a-plenty. Rice Rockets, or Rice Burners, are called so because of their japanese/chinese backgrounds. Most people from this region either grow rice, eat rice or masturbate with rice. These people designed the car, therefore they are called rice rockets or rice burners. Burning rice would be because that is all china and japan really ever grew/produced. I hope this answered your question.

  • can someone please explain why they call them "rice rockets"? What does rice have to do with a car?

  • "...This car is kinda like a muscle car turned family wagon. I like the idea... "

Too bad more people didnt like the idea.

Discontinued for 2010. Worst selling SRT vehicle in Dodge history.

  • @pressrolls Since SRT only existed since 2003, what's your point? They sold less GLHS's than Caliber SRT4s, so was the GLHS a failure too?

  • hahah stupid ricers

  • Ricer - A person who makes unnecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. Rice cars are usually cheap or old used compact cars with low horse power and 4 cylinder engines.

This IS a fast car for something straight off the lot under $30k, it has a turbo engine that's nearly 300 horse power, and it is definitely NOT not cheap.

This car is kinda like a muscle car turned family wagon. I like the idea...

  • Hahaha... all the haters... and their slowass cars. Love it. "Bring your POS Dodge and I'll kick it's ass with my RWD blah-blah". You all talk and you talk, and then someone with a well-tuned SRT comes along and you all STFU and whine about not being in the powerband, or missing a shift. You're like ricers in denial.

  • @toasteroven2001 its not faster than the cobalt or the mazdaspeed 3 around a track. the cobalt ss was a one point the fastest FWD car on the Nuringburg. the srt4 suffers from epic body roll and a high center of gravity.

  • @ecurules You keep thinking that.

  • @toasteroven2001 I agree this car is very quick. Even though I am not a fan, it is very quick. But why did they discontinue it? Or is it still available in the US? I wanted to show this to a friend of mine but it is not on the list of available cars anymore. This is not the first time it happened to a US performance car.

  • @Michael6609 The body style wasn't very popular, and even with that rocket under the hood, the styling was timed bad with the fuel prices going up, etc. Most cars are only around for a few years before their platform is replaced to meet new safety standards, and... to get you to buy a new car. There is a new SRT coming, based on a Fiat platform. The SS goes bye-bye with the end of Cobalt production (Chevy Cruze won't get an SS), everyone banging on about how much 'better' the SS is will be moot.

  • @toasteroven2001 310 whp

  • @toasteroven2001 true that! this is def. one of the best american "small muscle" performance packages, meaning a 4-banger which isn't exactly what comes to mind when talking about american cars :D i know that the srt-4 is dubbed the "GTI Eater" here in germany, and i think that speaks volumes, once an audi s3 or golf gti lost a race, they will start talking about interior refinement , i can tell you that :D, greetings from germany.

  • @toasteroven2001 On a straight, a freaking civic can beat a GTR... on a track... well you know the outcome. Srt's on the straight ok... on a track, they can suck my balls.

  • @holyjesuswashere civic beat a GTR where is your mind

  • @holyjesuswashere Unless you're gonna put thousands into a civic....hell no, it cannot.

  • if this was AWD it would have made it a bit more interesting. I rather have and Evo or Sti

  • but can you afford it? let alone the payments on the shit overpriced hype. Then when you get beat by a less expensive car youll wine about being too slow or worse having maintenance on it. I think the evo and sti substitute for lack of skill on the driver. And if you cant drive at all youll really get your feelings hurt in a race.

  • You have got to be kidding.

It is slower in every single respect and the STI and Evo even have a nicer interior and that isn't saying much.

  • For the price you cant beat it as for interior its no like I plan on living or sleeping in the car. I just plan to driver most cats that drive the evo and sti's are posers very rarely they have the money to upgrade them.

  • but it still only does 0-60 in over then 6 secs. the evo and sti are i beleive in the high 4s

  • same league and the evo and sti?!?! bullshit. this peice of shit car does 0-60 in a little over 6 secs. my moms crv is faster then that. yea it doesnt got 150 mph but holy shit thats slow. AWD FTW

  • The Caliber R/T had AWD, Why doesn't this???

  • yea. the neon srt4 is alot faster then the caliber. i mean it is nice but deff not with the sti or evo. more like the mazda 3

  • flamboyant??....as in gay...

  • The SRT-4 is a great car. 0-60 isnt all that matters in a good car. With the money you saved from buying the SRT instead of an EVO or STI you could buy a limited slip diff, better suspension and several other things to make it a import killer.

  • I just stuck a stage 1 cpu in my srt4 and now pusing 350 Hp at the wheels and about to redo the exhaust and put a cold air intake which will bring it up to 390Hp rwhp. Pushin 10-12 pounds of boost per shift 1-3 and 4-6 upwards of 18-20. I've got this up to 170 mph out on the nascar race track in salt lake city.

  • i am interested in the calibur srt4 as a fun car, and who wouldn't like to get it up to 350, but honestly aren't you worried about it overheating or something? 350 for a turboed four banger just doesn't sound safe! all you added was a chip for that? or were there more adds? please respond, and nice job!

  • Here's whats happened: When the srt-4 was designed for 2006+ they actually had the 350 CPU in all of the cars, but it did not pass emissions in 42/50 states with 350 HP, so they downgraded to 285 to pass all states. They made the 350 CPU available as an aftermarket part. I bought the CPU and had it installed, instantly i felt the power. DON'T try to install it anywhere except the dealer because the CPU has to reconfigured for your car and only the dealership can do that.

  • bullsh*t! and btw, its a fwd car so how can you put down 390rwhp?

  • watch your language, there are kids looking at this. Also you are correct by 390rwhp i meant 390 hp at the wheels. Check out the stage 1 cpu if you don't believe me.

  • I realize that the SRT4 is a quick car thats relatively fun to drive but no matter what you do to this thing is still FWD and will never handle as well as a RWD or even a AWD car. why would anyone want a 390hp FWD car? Even this KBB review makes note of the Torque Steer..... No thanks! Can you say wheel hop?

  • I am amazed at these comments! In the same league as an STI or EVO? Have you even driven either of those cars? if you had you would not be saying that.....If you want a quality, reliable and fun FWD you should be looking at the Civic Si, MS3 or GTI. If you want a high power, performance sedan you need to be looking at the BMW 335i, Evo, Sti or even G8 GXP.

  • BTW, you guys bring your srt4's w/390hp and I'll bring my 350hp RPS13 & spank you all - track or strip. And I only spent $5000.

  • All you guys are haters. Ill e going 150 in my Srt4 while you guys are in your governed 150 evo, and paid over 10,000 more

  • it only had slow 0-60 mph because the first and second year doesnt get the turbo boost for whatever reason. its gets fast third year and up.

  • one work ugly

  • Wow the power to weight ration on that car must be embarrassing. Almost 300 hp and still slow....... weigh reduction would do that car a world of good.

  • Cool so its like an uglier, slower, fwd, sti.

  • it's also a lot cheaper

  • i know. this is also one of the better dodges in terms of reliability if i'm correct.

  • Yep, price wise and material wise.

  • For the same price you could get a wrx hatch thats AWD and runs 0-60 in under 6 seconds. It blows my mind people still consider purchasing this car when they could get so much more bang for their buck.

  • yeah, not only that but probably a bit more spacious. oh well though.

  • I know what you mean (although I dont know about the wrx)... but some people stay loyal to their favorite brand, even though it might not be the best option. Sometimes the Dodge/Mazda/Subaru/etc. insignia is all you need to see to be happy with what you drive. I for one like the SRT4, I know it's not perfect, but I've had fun with it.

  • looks are in the eyes of the beholder, I think the sti is butt ugly

  • yeah plenty people do , but i think this is even uglier.

  • I love the sheer brutality of this car.

  • sheer brutality?

    LOL

  • Kelly Blue Book can lick my ass and the narrator sounds extremely white collar gay.

  • lol

  • as much as i hate this car. they are GREAT in winter, so i bought one for my wife to drive and haul the kids

  • i dont know about you but i rather drive the caliber to work rather then walking to work. cause i have a pretty good drive to get to work

  • really, drive one, then bitch about it, i was at an SRT event last weekend and people that just got out of there Challengers and chargers were shocked driving them. They are amazing little cars and for a price that cannot be beat.

  • Its like a family soccer mom car dummy. hahaha. No one is going to by it for speed.

  • Comment removed

  • i like the rims and the hood, thats about it.

  • aww its not AWD? wtf..... i was kinda getting to like this thing the last few days from checking it out on my blackberry on lunch breaks.

apparantly i didn't notice in any of the articles that its fwd only.

on to something else I guess.

  • it comes with that option? i thought it did at least. or at least with the R/T

  • not sure.. don't think so... :(

  • the caliber R/T is awd

  • wtf... some sites say it is.. others say it isn't... i guess i should just check dodge's site a little better =)

  • oh i checked the 2009 AWD has been axed

  • ah thats why..I was like wtf..

its ok, i read somewhere that it was some kind of part time system only anyhow. More than likely when the power was on and was more for corner stability or something.

  • dude your bio says you live in canada, for a standard model a FWD would be a more practical drive.....you know winter.

  • yeah.. too bad I won't ever buy a FWD vehicle =)

  • RWD is easy to control with 0 traction if you know what you're doing.

  • pulling out of a snow filled driveway???? sucks

  • Snow is easy to control with RWD and no traction control. Black ice is where the problems start.

  • Black ice is always a problem with every car or truck

  • i love my caliber sxt 4cly with the cvt no problems i can hit 80 mph with little to no noticeble sounds i regualy travel up to 80 or more on the highways with no mehcanical problems i love my caliber

  • i have the same car, i took it out tracking today (have had it almost three years) and i threw a CEL after ten minutes. what a POS

  • Check out my Dodge Caliber Guarentee u never seen 1 like it

  • I wonder why they got rid of the awesome sounding dual exhaust that the Neon SRT4 had.

  • the EPA!!!

  • i drove a dodge caliber from a car rental. that thing struggles and shakes like its trying to break the speed barrier at 80 mph. I can hit 120 in my BMW with no effort.

  • thats because thats a BMW

  • um $20,000 car vs $40,000 car geee you think?
