i can't afford this car, and here is the sad part. When i will be able to afford it, it won't be in production anymore because of the stupid r35 with a defected transmission. That is until Mines comes out with a R35... then i may change my mind :)
Yea the problem with the transmission is it's missing another pedal :) This car should have never been an automatic, all car enthusiasts, for the most part, want a 6 speed and clutch and none of this playstation paddle crap.
@GeorgeKatzz I mean with all this technology i think car manufacturers would be able to put a pedal at least would disengage the clutch for the heck of it, not that that would be practical in any way other than drifting :p but im just saying hahaha
Is it just me or are the rear rims too small for this car, I know larger rims affect performance but still, doesn't look balanced. Still like the car though!
Import an R34; Then you'll have to have Mine's do the engine build. Stage I (around 480HP) is about 15,000.
Stage II, which is what the famous one(s) have, is just over 20,000. It's rated around 618HP, but I'm sure you've seen the Amuse Supra/Mines Skyline video. Tsuchya sounds like he's gonna wet himself, which says alot.
Not to mention that a good R34 withe the RB26 goes for around $50,000-$80,000, and has to be certified by a domestic company (like MotoRex) for emissions and registration. In other words, I'm pretty sure you can't ship the car with its engine unless a certified company installs it and gives the OK. Just what I've heard though, could be wrong. Good news is that shipping the car w/o its engine makes it a kit car, so it doesn't have to pass smog!
Kit car? So, if I were to ship it without it's engine, and ship that later, I can drive around with all the power I like, maybe noise, and no have to worry about passing the DEQ?!
More or less, yeah. It's a bit more complicated than just shipping sans engine. The car has to be mostly unassembled, so you would have to ship without doors, body panels, etc. Like I know a guy who imported a JDM RX7 FD3S a few years ago, and he shipped it almost bare, no interior, no body panels, everything was in crates and bags in the same container, but he never had to have it pass smog or safety requirements in California, which is the toughest state to do that in anyway.
It took him 5 months or so working most weekends and weekdays for a couple of hours after work. The hardest part is the modern electronics. I don't think it's worth it honestly, but the car he got was dirt cheap, a '99 RX7 for $600USD + $500 something import costs. For him it was worth it because the car was nearly mint condition except for a worn rotor seal, which wasn't an outrageous fix anyway. The plus side is JDM cars in Japan are worth close to nothing. Here, they're rare exotics.
Oh man...I was considering importing a R34 some time in the future, but yeah, the electronics are gonna be a pain in the ass. Maybe, I should just buy one somewhere in America already from somebody.
unfortunatley the worst came to my beloved skyline, the asshole on the dyno was a stupid kid and he didnt let it spool up causing the air to get denser which pretty much screwed the pistons killing the engine,

Hm...so is it hard and worth the effort to assemble the whole thing back together? Also, would it take a long time? Couple weeks?
