  • barone soprano

  • @bobbbbbbb101 The tune is Stella by Starlight.

  • Slightly stronger bottom on the Magnum. An example of a top tier Mk VI that also sounds great. From what I've heard, the variation between Mk VI and Mk VI exceeds the variation between Mk VI and Asian Invasion horns. Congratulations to MacSax.

  • I test played alot Mark VI's for awhile now. Some are great and the rest are dogs. The great ones cost $4K to $8K. If you are like me I dont have time and money to invest on buying a horn that might not play well. Buying a Mark VI sight unseen from ebay is not how I want to spend my money. MacSax is great alternative for those who want to have a gig ready horn and a fraction of the cost of a Selmer. I bought one last week and I am really happy with it. Dont knock it until you try it.

  • We have them in stock! We would love to have you playing one!

  • In 2008 Horn Productions LLC (HPL) built 3 series of pro grade sax's that were sold under the Barone Brand, including the PB MAC 20. The PB MAC 20 was the only model built in China. At the time only the Chinese factory would fabricate a copper body sax. HPL ceased producing horns for Barone in early 2009 and introduced an in-house Brand, MACSAX™. MACSAX™ continues to produce the MAC 8 and has now introduced an all new Baritone, Classic and Magnum series, all built in Taiwan.

  • What's the deal with MacSax? First Mike Crouch proudly announces that he found a great Chinese horn maker to make his saxes. Now all you guys say is "All our horns are made in Taiwan." Which is it? What are you hiding? Care to explain?

  • Furthermore, i would like to assert that I am not a Selmer snob. I don't own any of their horns. But i can tell the difference. Lester young could make a Cannonball big bell sound good. It's a misleading video.

  • First of all. I'm not one to comment, but I think there are a few things to be said about this video. First of all, the sound quality is shit. You're doing a very specific sound timbre comparison of saxophones(which is a very contentious topic) with bad sound quality. To the layman, they might sound exactly the same. But the layman also thinks that Kenny G "defines jazz," It's a misleading, self promoting video. I think the six sounds way better.
