Hi im 10. I have a question do get off my chest. At my school we don't have those little bins on the side of the bathroom wall like they do at most stores. When i get my period and i need to dump out the pad and thers people in the bathroom what do i do? I don't want anyone to know. Im afraid the tolet will flod. PLEASE PLEASE help me!!!

@kmjusttalk First, you might put an annonymous note in the office explaining the problem of not having discreet trash cans in the stalls. Maybe they will remedy the issue. Second, this sounds gross but could you wear a jacket or hoodie during your cycle and keep a ziplock bag in it? Put the used item in the bag and then you can carry it with you out of the stall and wait until you can throw it away without others seeing. Holly

i love that you said you wanted to celebrate with your daughters when they got their periods. i want to do that with my future daughters someday too because my mom didnt do anything special when i got mine, and i feel like it should be celebrated somehow :)

I hate my period. -:( it always comes at the worst time, like before a camping trip, or before a big soccer tournament.(competitive high level) so all that running is uncomftorble.

@MartinezAna1996 Not knowing your age makes it harder to answer this. But, I think the fact that it worries you is a good indicator that you should call your doctor for an appointment. It is more than likely something with your hormones which they may be able to help you with. It isn't bad...but it would be good for you to know why. Holly

@RoadRunnerIsTheBest It is my understanding that playing sports for fun everyday is not the kind of thing that delays it. Girls training for the olympics many hours a day is the kind of thing that stops it from starting. But I haven't done a lot of reading on the topic to be honest. Holly

Great Vids! 4th grade girls were combined into one room to have an anatomy discussion w the nurse, while the boys played outside. 5th grade, same thing except menstruation was thrown into the mix w a vid. I was so crushed & pissed with this news of bleeding every month, while boys had nothing. 6th grade =ed sex ed... @funmonster123 Im 14 as well and just started mine recently. You could just simply say something like "mom I think I started my period." or if ur not as comfortable with saying that say something like" mom i think i started that time of the month." OR: great option: if ur mom is out in public just text her and tell her(this way its simpler than saying it in person)

Can someone please respond I have cramping, slight headache,slight digariah, and discharge I'm 11 by the way abd am having cramps this very moment I've never felt cramps like that before and I'm actually excited :) cuz my cramps are easily treatable so I'm fine:) please respond my mom is not the best help in not sure when I'll get it or if I'll get it during school :(

A great way to tell if you are about to start is to see when your mom or an older sister started. You will most likely start within a year of them. And Just a rough guess would be maybe in 6 months-2 years. (its a wide range bc it can be anywhere between those ages)

i got my [eriod when i was 8. 8!! i was so mad and embarressed. im 12 and still im the only girl in my grade who has it!! i get the worst cramps...to the point where i was at school and i felt like i was gonna throw and i was lying on the flor in the nurse crying!! midol helps ALOT!! and i got sex ed in 5th gr.
