I do not see how this could be obama's fault. Its not like he flew a secret chopper to the rig in the middle of the night and planted explosives and weakened the legs holding the thing up. BP chose not to follow regulations and ignored the safety hazards and violations. It is entireley their fault and should have to pay to clean up their mess. Although the president probably could have done better at handling the spill, but its BP's fault the rig blew up in the first place.
why the fuck would it be obamas problem? he wasnt the person in charge when the rig was built and he wont be the person in charge when it gets torn down. every oil rig has the same set up as that . ooooo no it happened to go wrong during obamas administation so its his fault? fuck off! Maybe he didnt handle the situation perfectly but these things happen and it doesnt matter who u point the blame at because things wont change
Obama took 2 BILLION of our tax dollars and gave it to Petrobras for deep water drilling, also his administration has recently teamed up with the International Whaling Commission to lift the 25 year moratorium on commercial whaling..
Don't blame capitalism.. Oil supports every species of big government, and we all know the Obama administration embraces big fat government at the expense of everyone and everything else..
If Bush was responsible for what happened during Katrina, I guess Obama bin lad.. I mean Mr. president is at fault for this. Double-Standard much? GSO lefty liberal fucks.
@ajustin672 Yes, it is Obamas fault that the companys response to a spill is to save walruses in the gulf, which havnt been in the gulf for 3 million years. Its obamas fault that the response plan made in 2009 involes contacting a biologiest that died in 2005. Yes, this disaster is totally Obamas fault.
@bob75ify First off, your information to back up your statement is where? And maybe someone will take you seriously when you learn how to spell! And in case you didn't know, Obama said "I will take full responsibility for the oil spill in the gulf."
Watch the news my friend, maybe you can learn how to spell, and some info! :-D
@ajustin672 The information to back up my stories??CBS Evening news at 6 toady. And why should he take resonsiblity for the spill??If an OIL comapny cant fix it,how can another person in a COMPLETLY different job fix it?
@bob75ify Once again, work on that spelling bud, and lets see here, Obama could have Done something within the first week, instead of waiting 40 days before he even addressed the situation, he could name it a state of disaster, he could make a better effort to keep the oil from reaching Alabama, and Florida. He could have sent out the national guard earlier, He could have worked on the oil spill instead, of worrying about cap-and trade, im running out of room, but the list goes on, and on.....
@ajustin672 What can Obama do that an OIL company cant do??I dont know if you have noticed, but do you know that the booms do a horrible job at stopping the oil and that even if we put down way more booms, there is more oil underneath the booms??
@bob75ify First off nice job on the spelling, I can finally take you seriously! And you misinterpreted this situation, I'm not really saying he can do much more, but once again read my last comment, he could do all of that. And Obama said himself he would take full responsibility for the oil spill.
@ajustin672 Ok, but I still dont get why this happened in the first place-BP could have spent money to prevent this but money comes first to wildlife and the rest of the world to oil companies
@ajustin672 ya it's not like the oil spill could have bin avoidabl if it wasn'tfor the bush deregulation years cuzz normaly oil wells should have had a fail safe shut off but after bush came in they diden't have to do it
i think the question is "Did anyone even thought about (hey if there was an oil spill how could we control it)" It's a tragedy. Even if they fix it, the damage has been done. Accidents happen and sometime it's something that we regret. It is BP's fault cuz it's their company that messed up. Unfortunately, water and oil don't mix
wait until a hurricane rips through there, sucking up the oil and puking it onto the land. we have a real nasty disaster on our hands 1,000 times worse than what it is today. kiss our east coast goodbye.
A free market doesn't mean that companies are not responsible for their actions. This issue has nothing to do with capitalism in of itself. Besides The U.S. is not (nor has it ever been) a lazy faire capitalist system.
@marly9 haha first i never said they are not responsible for their action but in a pure captitalist system that many tea party preaches...the government has no right to in force any laws or fines against them. which is exactly what many people are complaining that the government isn't doing enough against bp. Second i also never said we have a pure capitalist system never did.
@theking2217 simply not true. tea party believes in limited government not anarchy. im a libertarian and i believe the government should absolutely enforce the fact that BP needs to clean every drop up and compensate any losses to anyone affected by it. simple. its up to BP to fix this tragety, but up to the fed to enforce it. we all know though, the govt never does anything efficiently. this is a disaster, and will only get way way worse. unfortunately.
How the HELL can anyone think this is obamas fault???Oil companies can have equipment added, but it costs TOO MUCH MONEY to save the enviroment, and look what happened now??BP is gonna be FINED OUT OF BISNESS.AND WHAT THEY DID HAVE FAILED!!!F A I L ED FAILED!!!!
If you ever had any doubts or supported OIL drillings...THIS IS YOUR WAKE UP CALL! What is this question?...OBAMA has nothing to do with this! Stop playing the media game here! Don't be sucked in the talking heads. BESIDES all this...More importantly THIS IS STILL HAPPENING! THIS IS WORST THAN THEY ARE SAYING. They don't know how to stop this!!!!!!!!THIS COULD GET MORE WORST.
Dumb if Bush's didn't allow deregulations on oil this would had never happened.
Ok for DC had people there day 1 but I am tired of people thinking this will be solved in week /month only way it will stop is Like past a sub line drilled to reduce flow that takes almost 3 months yes they have started. Dumb is deregulations or idiots haven't learned from past & automatically drill the 2nd one. I will be angry with DC if I have to pay 1 dime to fix this when BP gave billions to there investors
Obama never wanted to act or make a decision when he was a senator. Why would anyone think he would ever want to act or make a decision as a president?
I'm half black and half white, I don't buy into anything Obama says. I look at it like this,....I don't see him being half black as a good thing, I look at it as him being white is a bad thing. And I ain't ragging on white people, i am half white, but you do know how white people can get when it comes to money.
@ENDtheFED2012 What about how black people can get when it comes to random acts of sensles violence???? can anyone say WW3?????? Dont get me wrong.........dont
The 'American Power Act bill is just another name for cap and trade
.
capitalism isn't to blame in any of this. BP, Transocean, and Halliburton got wavers form the MMS/US Gov. so they could bypass safety measures that would prevent this.
Gore, BP, Shell oil, Obama, and all of the other investors who invested in those carbon climate exchange companies will make millions, billions, and trillions of dollars respective to their investment, when the 'American Power Act' bill passes
.
Obama and congressmen are now using this leak to advocate for the APA bill.
Big Oil companies who fund the two congressmen, Sen. Kerry and Sen. Liebarman, help write the American Power Act bill, that those senators introduced to congress.
.
Obama takes 10 days to respond to the leak
.
BP senate hearings run in circles. BP blames Transocean, Transocean blames Halliburton, Halliburton blames BP, and on and on and on.
Goldman Sachs short sells stock in Transocean Drilling who owns the oil rig, just a few days before the accident
.
Goldman Sachs also short sells stock in insurance companies that cover alot of actions in the Gulf, just a day before the accident
.
Dick Cheney's company Halliburton does the concrete work on the well head on the sea floor of the gulf drilling rig the day before the rig fire and leak
Dick Cheney has a meeting with the Obama Admin., and they try to keep it secret.
.
Dick Cheney's company Halliburton, buys an Oil Clean-up company that makes equipment and chemicals for ocean oil spills, just two weeks before the rig exsplosion
BP was one of, if not the largest, contributors to Obama campain for president
.
Global-warming and Climate-change gets slammed by Climate-Gate and the Danish Text and threatens the cap and trade, carbon tax bills and that treatens carbon trade companies profit.
.
The democrats and the republicans made a deal on the healthcare bill. Dems trade off-shore drilling for healthcare.
I don't agree. I believe both are at fault. BP first But Obama also. It has been over a month since the oil spill began. The first day our military should have been sent down and blown the oil well up. This has been done by Russia 5 times and worked every time. The truth is the only one that can stop this is our Navy.. But they can't till they get the order...
Furthermore--: since day one, BP's only concern has been to quell any legal backlash- presenting contracts to the survivors and their families before they even had the chance to get any fucking medical attention! This is not Obama's fault. It's BP's fault directly, but indirectly it's all of our faults for allowing such a system to be in place where profits take precedence over individual lives (human and non-human). This will go down in history as the greatest fuck-up in human history.
It doesn't matter who the president is, he'd be under attack regardless. Of course it's BP's fault, but it's the U.S. Govt. (ever since Reagan) that was redesigned to play ball with big business. Sadly, the focus is on placing blame rather than actually PLUGGING THE LEAK. This whole debacle has everything to do with profits! More urgent action probably won't be taken, because they've already paid scientists to report that everything in "our" power is already being done. BULLSHIT!
What oil spill? Did it really happen? How many new laws destroying your rights were passed while the media reported on the oil spill?
