  • We Need Tort Reform, why can we not have tort reform. And pre medical condtions should not be a problem. why not, why is it a problem?

  • I was there! at this 3,000+ attended townhall for Darrell Issa's. Everyone was given a fair chance to ask questions and hear him speak. Everyone was well-mannered and respectful listening to others. The Republicans have the "best option!" that preserves liberties, freedom, and provides a more economical and higher quality healthcare system that will preserve all the best qualities of our current healthcare system for everyone.

  • Love It - A much more fiscally sound plan than HR3200. So much for the argument that Republicans haven't got a plan... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, ISSA

  • You have a great solution, let's make it happen, instead of the mess presented thus far.

  • Reducing drug costs by denying advertising in magazines and T.V. to pharmaceutical companies.

    Eliminate abuses in medical lawsuits.

For me, dependency on Medicare is risky, but my only option with the cost of private insurance company rates.

  • The thousands of citizens who marched on Washington against government run health care have been ignored. What are you and our representatives going to do about it?

    Regards,

    tcurry

  • I watch video, learn li'l, 7 mins pointless ?'s, ambiguous ploitispeak answers. Want 2 no how much money ins. co's, & med. indust. lobbyists "donate" your campaign, Y u design legislation include features 2 benefit ins. co's 2 detriment of constituents. Want 2 know y u and Reps in Congress consistently try defeat every feature health care reform designed 2 give full coverage @ minimum cost. Y u against singl payr univ hlth care 4 all, such programs work 4 majority civiliz nations n world.

  • Please make Privitazing Problems a part of health care reform rather than attempting to legislate peoples lifestyle:

Require tobacco industry to set up a trust fund to pay all tobacco related health care costs ($90 billion/year) not paid by the individual/insurance.

Require alcohol industry to set up a trust fund to pay all alcohol health care costs(above patient/insurance) and all public safety, damages, and related costs.

Require 55 mph speed limit-save medical, death, energy, damage

  • We would like:

    eliminate fraud & waste immediately,

Limit new legislation to 10 pages, begin with four top issues only each year. ie , tort reform, pre-existing conditions, Require congress to use SS and medicare.

Require congress to work and live in their districts/states not in Washington.

  • We live in a free market, not a socialist society. We already have a welfare system that's out of control we don't need another federally mandated welfare "option". The government has lost sight of who they work for and what their purpose is. I believe there needs to be on "opt out" option for those of us that don't want a tax increase so our tax dollars can be used to cover the burdens of others.

  • Why do we NEVER see these types of meetings from BARBARA BOXER or NANCY PELOSI or CHRIS DODD or CHARLIE RANGEL?????

    Oh yes...that's right...THEY HAVEN'T DONE ANY!

  • I would like to see government provided health care that was like In and Out Burger. A menu that is short and sweet and what is DOES do, it does well. Take care of the BASIC health needs of the public, but leave the specialties to private insurance. Similar to what the town doctor used to do - he couldn't give you chemotherapy, but he could treat your cold, flu, broken bones, give you a physical, etc.

We also need to build in there some financial incentive for those general practitioners.

  • Lets look at three things that drive up the cost of medicine:

    The government

Insurance that pays for every hospital visit

    Lack of tort reform

The government in California is working very hard to create regional hospital monopolies. These monopolies having little competition charge without concern for the patient because usually the patient has nowhere else to go.

Normally a person who pays cash can generate a discount, some insurance companies request that that no cash discount be given

  • I definitely would want to see health insurance independent from employment. No one should lose health insurance when they lose their job. Government mandates have increased the cost of health care, many of them need to be repealed. The proposed health care bill is a nightmare for people who have experienced government run health care in other countries and ran away from it. Besides, the Constitution does NOT give this power to the Federal Government.

  • I would like to see:

    Tort reform

Universal access for insurance companies across state lines

Coverage options with lower coverage requirements and higher deductions for lower premiums

A premium structure that addresses adverse lifestyle choices such as tobacco, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, obesity, etc. I do not want:

    Gov't (Public) option

    Gov't Co-op options

    Any kind of "Trigger" provision

Mandatory coverage, however the premium structure should be designed to discourage delayed buy-ins

  • I would like to know why we can't have the same public option as you and the rest of congress

  • I agree with Chris Keyes, who said she didn't see where it says that the gov't should cover our health care costs.

May I suggest that if taxpayers want to pay for everyone's health care, that no one should be allowed alcohol, tabacco, should excercise, drive carefully, etc. No one wants the gov't to take away their right to live as they please, and I don't want to be forced pay for unhealthy lifestyles. That's true freedom and responsibility of choice.

  • Perfect is the enemy of good enough. The House needs to collaborate. 435 separate plans will result in nothing being done. Show the Senate how it's done!

  • When people are unemployed they may not be able to afford $500 a month. I suggest there be a way for them to earn their premium by participating in community projects, such as: Health Education, Healthy living projects, Smoking cessation programs, Weight management, Other, to be determined by the State Unemployment Agency.

  • You advocated that States should implement and regulate healthcare. I believe there is an important role for the federal government to set standards and regulate insurance companies to assure a fair and balanced delivery of products to all US citizens. Those in states with small populations may have too little leverage and or resources to provide equal insurance to larger states. That wouldn't be consistent with your analogy to AT&T utilities (same phone bill for country and city dwellers).

  • As a GOP member I urge you to break the mold and help our president create a strong public option for the good of the people. A person like myself will never trust a for profit health insurance company again, not even with a mandate. The public option is a way to force the prices and curb the corruption.

  • The kind of changes that are needed go far beyond the $500 a month that you are talking about. I can tell you I go to the doctor about 4 times a year at most . My yearly bill is less than $1000 and I pay out of pocket at retail rates. Which you know is about half of what insurance pays.

  • Your example of the regulation of Ma Bell to provide universal service does not include the eventual result. AT&T did not allow its customers to use any equipment except that provided by the company. It also maintained an army of lawyers and lobbyists to influence regulators so that it could charge high prices relative to its costs. If the DOJ had not forced the breakup of Ma Bell we would still be leasing black rotary phones. A government run health care system will turn out the same way.

  • Many people with health care are abused by their health insurance companies. A friend broke her nose and was told she was fine since she could breathe. Now she has a crooked nose.

If the 'nose' of her car broke, but the car was still driveable, ins. would still have fixed the broken 'nose' of the car.

It's sad that auto insurance is better than health insurance.

  • Just snippets - difficult to determine a cohesive position.

A poor familiy can spend $500. a month on health care? Many earn $10/hr. $500. is about 1.5 weeks of take home pay and is unrealistic.

Health ins. companies have rippedg us offfor years. It's time the federal govt set some std and increase regulation.

  • Where has capitalism gone? Why can't health insurance be like auto-insurance? Progressive and Geico compete everynight for the lowest rate. Get rid of business provided niche insurance and state fiefdoms. Make health insurance a real free market.
