thanks, picked this up quick, for once lol. Used it as a let me see if my bass is in tune "showoff" lol. may have worked too well... hope this one is a boy smh
this is a really nice riff. For strange reason I cant seem to connect the lower notes of the scale to the higher ones. I can do this riff only on the E and the A strings. I cant connect it to the D and the G. I feel like I am missing a note or something.
I'm having trouble with the tempo and where to place the harmonic and subsequent E. Any advice on how to count this one out? Thanks for including licks with the different modes, as that's what I'm laboring through right now!
hey thomas I play using the floating thumb technique and now that i'm learning more complex basslines I find I really need to concentrate on my muting, what is the best method in your opinion?
wow, i rly love the personality this riff gets. its just so menacing yet subtle and thoughtful all at the same time. sorry for my abstract description lol
I've discovered your youtube account 3 days ago. I have hurt my finguers cause i am practising all the day with your tutorials. You are cool, really thanks for your videos ;)
@MarcusBritish the dry scratchy sound is because its new strings? or is it the bass itself? Can it be fixed? I'm thinking of getting a Acoustic bass or maybe an electro acoustic bass. I'm just curious about your opinion about this.
@josephcintron1980 Not sure - I replaced the original bronze strings with steel/nickel electric and it sounded worse to me, so I went back to bronze. I think it's a matter of taste rather than a fault. Acoustic without a vast amp boost is likely to sound dry, just like strumming an unamped electric bass sounds odd. Originally I had heard the guy in Ukelele Orchesta of GB playing one, and he sounds really good.. very deep, not dry or scratchy. I'm not sure what he has different in his setup.
@MarcusBritish I think the biggest problem with acoustic bass guitars is when unamplified the body of the guitar isn't large enough to amplify the lower notes resulting in a thin sound. Have you ever seen those acoustic bass guitars used in Latin Bands? They're huge.
reminds me of "Andie Warhol" by David Bowie. Nice acoustic btw

Hi Marlowe. Can you put flatwounds on an acoustic? Or will the tension bend the neck? Great playing, btw.

@inthe7thhouse Dont think it should be a problem

@OnThatBass Nope, it's not hollow.

I have an electro-acoustic bass too, but just can't get comfortable with the dry scratchy sound it produces. =[

@tbcass Ya - look up "Guitarrón mexicano" on Wiki, the top photo there has an impressive size bass. It's as big as the Mexican guys torso! :o
