  • ...steve winwood couldn't shine dave's shoes...dave mason is one mfggp!...and his vocals are right on,...i've listened to both dave,....and steve, for 30 years,...dave will always be my fave...

  • cooper river park eeew hope there was lots of stomach pumps around in case some one fell in to the river and accidently drank the water, regardless I wish I had been there for this concert.

  • pmathas my man! you must be a headman...just love all the psycodelics you've infused into this vid... give yourself the atta boy of the week award!!! I've been a DM and Traffic fan since 17 in 1969. Only been to Jersy once... Fort Dix leaving for the other side of Planet Earth.. NAM to Iceland...and Never took more than I gave!

  • Who did this first...Dave Mason or Blood, Sweat and Tears?

  • blood sweat and tears

  • No way !!! 40,000 headmen was on Traffic's 2nd album in 1968 !!!!!

  • dave mason

  • dave mason can't you tell by the words and style definitly traffic

  • Am I having an LSD flash back or is Dave playing left and right handed

  • it is the special effects that the poster of the vid put on the vid.

  • we are on the same trip brother-

    peace

  • both

  • @awfootball I believe Dave played for Traffic at that time.

  • Dave is one of my alltime favorites and he is smokin' that Tele here! But I got to give propers to the rest of the band, especially the organist who really shines when given his brief chances.

  • I've been a huge Traffic fan since the first album (this was from the 2nd album, at least in America) and I never knew until recently that Dave Mason played the great, famous guitar solo on Mr. Fantasy. Easy to believe after hearing this!

  • Dave Mason did not play the solo on "Dear Mr. Fantasy". Steve Winwood did. Winwood was asked the question if he ever got frustrated by the fact that many people assume it was Dave Mason and he said, no. The full interview is available online.

  • Yep, you are correct, the interview is with Scott Tribble. There's also some vids of Steve Winwood playing the solo on YouTube, including one just from last July, which leave little room for doubt.

  • Great guitar work. Vocals are actually decent give the expectations set by Winwood. Nice post. Thanks.

  • That Telecaster sounds great. Way better than that striped guitar he usually plays.

  • good stuff

  • Part of the accent here is on the rocking bluesy guitar. Caught Traffic live once in Burlington, Vermont. Big pleasure to experience.

    - Dave Maakestad at Woodpile 58N 16E

  • He sure sounded English on some early songs but he's 100% American. He played guitar on this song on the LP so he sure has the right to do it, just like Steve could do Dave's songs - what a guitarist!!

  • Born in England

  • Dave didn't even write this song Steve and Jim wrote it if Dave is going to perform Traffic songs written by Steve and Jim, Steve should be able to perform traffic songs that Dave composed

  • Winwood and Capaldi also performed songs written by Dave Mason!

  • Jim Capaldi - wrote almost all the TRAFFIC SONGS ,including this one, FEELIN ALLRIGHT WAS DAVES ...

  • i thought dave was english, from Brighton?

    He isn't?

  • He is. He lost the accent.
