I used to go to this club in Boston every weekend in the early 90's. Sadly it does not exist any more,. This was the place to go and dance all night and the place would be entirely packed with everybody dancing even on top of the huge speakers. Who remembers the crystal ball? The lighting effects were amazing (brought down to inches above your head) ,fog everywhere, the music incredibly moving, and the girls, oh my God, I miss those days in my early twenties before Internet and Facebook.
Avalon Boston was the best back in the day. Lazer and light shows were the best. the sinking light effects rocked the house. The Anniversary shows and NYE events were epic and that's an understatement. Kingsize Boston and Underbar has got it going on for sure. Don't forgey about afterhours as RISE. Now We're elevating the evening/moringing for sure. Yeah!!!!
Me too. I never missed an epic Thursday international euro night with DJ Manolo pumping out the best tracks, Friday night Avaland with my favorite dj's with legendary sets from Paul Van Dyk, DJ Micro, John Digweed etc. I spent alomost every weekend there from 1996 - 2005 (pre-kids). Saturdays was Roxy. haha. Tough getting old. :)
I miss the Avalon soooo much!!! The Estate and Roxy or whateva other club just does not measure up at all!! I was there for the last dance and it was INCREDIBLE! God i miss that place!!
hmm...actually, Avalon closed in October 2007. I was there for its closing party. It was demolished over the past year and was recently reopened (in a new building) as the Boston House of Blues about 3 weeks ago. You may be thinking of a different club of the same name or just don't know what you're talking about.
hmmm...either you are thinking of a different club, or you are not from around here. Avalon closed in October 2007. I was there on the last night it was open. It has undergone a demolition and rebuilding as the "House of Blues", which just opened up about 2-3 weeks ago.
Nice tribute. Great club. Life long memories. check out my PVD vid. Are you going to Carl Cox at the Roxy Wednesday 10/15/08? Should be a great night.
it got closed for a house of blues, which was already tried and FAILED here. Dance music died with this club in Boston as much as i hate to say. Roxy is like a black hole, it has no energy ,nothing will ever stack up to this place.

Name of the song is Time of Our Lives by Paul Van Dyk. A very nice song. It was also in the movie Into the Blue with Paul Walker.

I had only gone once, seeing as I was and still am underage, but that one time was amazing. It's all I needed to experience to be about to miss it.

I don't even like dance music and I liked that club. Fun place.
The House of Blues won't have the same vibe, even with more of my kind of music coming to town.
