This movie is much better than the remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The remake has such an evil feel to it with the fact that when all the mishaps happen in the first movie Willy Wonka is troubled, but in the remake he doesn't seem to care.

Broadly yes, but more specifically the premise was to prove that Wonka favoured Charlie because he was actively good, not passively obedient. Charlie didn't behave well because he feared punishment (as evident by his breaking the rules), he was human and made mistakes but most importantly, he made a conscious effort to regard others. That is why Wonka reacted overly mad at the end, to test Charlie.

The problem is that moviemakers never make the movie exactly like the book, and a whole bunch of avid Roald Dahl fans like you and me get hella angry. i myself was particularly mad that they made the movie so there couldn't be the sequel, but otherwise it was a good film that stood mostly true to the original story. also, they should have made someone better play as Wonka. I agree with you on that part.

@circulation211 - you are so right. my little alternate ending is just a joke, but I think the original was the best compared to the crappy Depp remake. All that was is kids with bad attitudes and nobody will ever replace the Gene Wilder role. Look at the acting in the old one, the kids were perfect in their roles and the parents even as much. My kids loved the old one and hated the new one. It was made in a different era, and reflects it. But irreplaceable!!!!

LoL good ending but about the movie being bad, I STRONGLY disagree, Wilder was an amazing actor. The movie was magical. The new movie hasnt got that magic and Johnny Depp was not a good Wonka, he looked and acted like Michael Jackson in real life.

3. the oompa loompas were orange

4. in the book they never show charlie in the school

5. fizzy lifting drinks accident

Well the reason the oompa loompas were made orange is because the original ones were basically tiny black monkey people which can be seen to be rather racist
