Saw him at Pier 84 and Jones Beach Theater in NY in the 80's- and met him at Tower Records. He is SO underrated! Wish he would come to the states and do a little old school tour. I know LOTS of people who would be into it!
I bought a new car a few years ago. A bright red Pontiac Grand Prix with chrome wheels and a badass sound system. The first song I played when I drove off the lot was Playhouse. Loud, bad and cool. The back windows shook. My ex liked George Michael. Not anymore. Now if it doesn't rock like this track it ain't on. Paul Young was a great talent in the dismal 80's, Pino's basswork on this is mesmerizing. Bravo. Oh yeah, I DID TEAR HER PLAYHOUSE DOWN!
This is one of my favorite R&B/pop songs of the 80's, the groove and bassline is laced with funk, along with the soulful vocals, grade A 80's music, no question!!
Great re-make. I thought this song was weird when it just came out, but it grew on me. Today, it amazes me how the Bass is such a main part of the song.
It's funny how the bass is the most impressive element of the song, and yet we don't see much of Pino in the clip. He looks a bit gooberish, but plays like a god.
I remember how Pino's rapid fire bass lines near the end of this song really grabbed my ears the first time I heard this song......still has the same devastating affect all these years later!
GOT BASS?

I agree--the louder you play it, the better it sounds.
Having just heard it foir the first time in ages on Casey Kasem's 'American Top 40', I really miss hearing this thudnerous tune on the radio.

Always actually liked this one more than Everytime You Go Away. Wasn't nearly as big a hit, though.................go figure.

This was the song that made me a Paul Young fan. I remember on the back of the record cover it said 'This record must be played LOUD' - so I did!
