  • i gotta ls6 ctsv, trade?

  • So how well does it now stop with all that extra power?

  • @grifter116 classic example of simple misunderstanding of the basics. it will stop just as well as it always has unless you add weight.....and as we all know ls1's are made of aluminum. the end.

  • @jp91484

Without doubt the LS1 is made of alloy, but to play with your theory, what is we substitute a jet engine of the same weight for the LS1. At the cars new top speed, how well would it stop? I presume the LS1 will go much faster, and accelerate much quicker than stock, thus inertia plays a bigger role in stopping that weight even if it is of the same mass, no?

  • @fredbrackely

    good point

  • Were you using the stock rear end?

Or using an m3 diff and half shafts? If so with stock or m3 rear end will the half shafts handle the torque or will it Tear the splines out?

Just curious, I'm doing my research on this because I have and ls1 with ls6 heads and intake. Comp mild cams and stage 3 clutch, that I'm stuffing into my e36 sedan,

Basically just wondering if I can use my stock rear end for now or if I should just go for broke with a c5 subframe and fab it in to fit.

    Thanks

  • What track is this? I saw a Mac's sign in the background.

  • so.... is it an ls1? or an e36? dumbass

  • @kevinthematthews its an ls1 e36. did u watch the video with volume??? cuz i think if u had u would be able to tell that that e36 did not have a straight 6 in it. its an e36 with an ls1 in it

  • @adguerra9 yes.... i get that. it's an ls1. an e36 is a bmw motor.... not the car the ls1 is in... that's what i'm saying.

  • @kevinthematthews e36 was the model. there were actually two different motors put in the e36 m3 over the years. in 95 the motor was a 3.2 rather than the original 3.0 from 92

  • @adguerra9 oh. haha sorry for being a dick. didn't know that.

  • Sounds like a Corvette!!!

  • Well, that's one way to make a chevy handle better.

  • looks like the top gear track (am version)

  • Moiz knows that bloke.

  • is this mat black?

  • wow that sounds...like another ls1 where it shouldn't be.

  • @80857473 you mean... in a well balanced car for once?

  • Handling of a beamer, Power of a muscle, and fuel economy of an import.

  • LS1 is a perfect swap in an E36. It's about the same weight as the stock inline 6 and it's more compact.

  • @Jorell1000 is the stock inline 6 aluminum or cast iron?

  • @bellofello1 cool then that would mean the car probably lost 100lbs or so by going to the LS1 (aluminum)

  • @SuperColossal33 Yep probably around that. I think the LS and the 4cyl cast end up right at the same weight. LS might be heavier by a few LB's

  • BEAST!! Nice vid

  • FRIKKEN AWESOME

  • e36 best chassis ever made. great job people. sound is, hmmm, V8!!!-)))))

  • does anybody know how much this would cost and if it can be done in an e46 330i

  • car sounds wicked.

  • That slide was an absolutely vulgar display of power.

  • this video needs Pantera playing in the background. EXCELLENT VIDEO

  • What slide>??? Is there something I missed?.....

Awesome car, damn that thing grips like a bastard..............

  • @ericunderscores just like pantera?

  • @ericunderscores well said

  • wow thats sounds wicked

  • What mufflers are you running? I'm putting together an LS1 miata, and I want it to sound like that :)

  • start with the headers key to the sound coming out of this car

  • Yea, I'd like to know too. Thinking about changing mine.

  • thats fucking ill

  • look at the tire marks when he comes out of the corner. pure power

  • ride along with Paul in his LS1 powered 3 series

^search youtube for this video, on board in this car

  • SICK SOUND :OO

  • Odd sounding exhaust

  • Perfect stuff, BMW handling, 'Vette power!

  • Yet another V8 from the Americans.

  • american muscle meets the ultimate in racing suspension!! im gonna go drop a 454 in my volks wagon ill be back lmao !!!!! nice ride

  • soooo sick, congrats

  • Indeed

  • Any idea what rear end is used? Stock M3 LSD?

  • Any more info about this particular car?

I love my S50, but damn, that is cool as hell.

  • Could someone give a rough breakdown of the prices? LS1 vs. LS2 vs. LS6?? I've been tooling over a a 2JZ swap into my '84 e23 Euro for years now but maybe a huge American V8 would do the trick...

  • is that race city? and did he paint the car a different colour at all?

  • Ok, gotta go clean my shorts now..

  • ditto, throw in some carpet cleaning in there too...

  • Sex.....

  • When my S52 dies I'm seriously thinking about dropping an LS1 or LS2 in its place.

  • best thing about an LS1, a ported FAST 92/92 or 90/90 intake manifold, a good set of heads and a cam like a t-rex or magic stick 4 and you are at 450rwhp. and you can still get 25mpg highway (if not more) from that huge cam. stock ls1s can get EASILY 20-25 MPG city and 30-35 highway if you drive them with a strady foot, you dont even have to baby it. my neighbor drives an 08 LS3 C6 (stick) and he regularly gets 35mpg to work and back. ill be happy to answer/correct any ?s or coments on ls1s.

  • I have a 2001 Corvette LS1 and there is no way it gets 35 on the hwy. Mine gets about 30 TOPS.

  • nobody finds it funny that the new m3 is built on v concept that gm been using since the 60s im a bmw car club member of nj love my e30s yes i know that the e30 m3 won more endurance races then any other chassis but an ls1 in a bmw is like music to my ears replacement parts for gm are way cheaper getting major horsepower gains will be easier also

  • Ford have been using V8's since the 30's. GM didn't have one until the 50's.

  • people who think any E36 engine is better than an LS1 are retarded, and I own a 325i

  • ok how about the e36 m3 gtr engine

  • it may be more advanced and high tech but the LS1 still blows it away in every department, i mean think about it, its a pushrod motor thats basic design has never really changed in well over 50 years, yet it still delivers the absolute best power to money ratio I've every seen. and can out power and out last pretty much anything. shure there are a few that top it in some areas, but as an overall motor where power is a necessity , its the king.

  • Amen

  • and it has been proven to be superior to DOHC engines in N/A form, a pushrod engine has a flatter torque curve and arrives earlier than DOHC they have to rev to get their torque numbers and now with the lsx block its unstopable dont get me wrong i like I6s with their inherant smoothness and rev ability but jvw is right $ for $ an ls1 just cant be beat

  • Thats a joke right? The LS1 is one of the best motors ever built. Thats why people start putting the LS1 in almost anything... Honda's, Nissan's, Mazda's, Evo's...

  • BMW ÛBER ALLES!

  • i bet this engine is great...but im a BMW fan..so i can not have one in mine...i would rather have a v8 bmw

  • I would prefer this motor in almost any car. I think it is one of the most popular motors dropped into cars not counting shitty Honda's of course.

  • Ive always wanted to do this with my M3...

  • wierd to here a v8 in a bmw, but that is pretty awesome. I never knew people were doing swaps into BMW's. Thanks no i do.

  • nice! BMW with a Corvette engine ;p

  • possess rh drive (as from england) think the first about . after exhaust advice

  • Hey, wondering where that track is? Is it somewhere in Alberta?

  • is that m3?

  • not anymore lol

  • got traction control? lol

  • Nice

  • awesomenessness

  • oh baby, nice work ls series is one of the best motors ever made

  • awsome video!! Hope i get that engine for my M3 soon. love the sound of that V8.
