1)Panasonic xx600\700 camcorder seems to be more cool blue/green (turquoise) bias, this is mostly apparent when shooting skies or other blue objects.
2)Manual White Balance works, but camera AUTOMATICALLY OFFSETS that balance afterwards.
3)Even after adjusting the White Balance by means of WB cap, gray card or expodisc the bondi blue color disappears but then returns again AUTOMATICALLY after several seconds or if you turn off camcorder and then turn on it again.
Yes, YouTube displays the 480p render first, while the 720p and 1080p renderings are still processing. Eventually all three options become available. It could take up to an hour depending on length and size of file. In my experience it usually takes less than 30 minutes though.
@TheTastyMorsel what did you use to edit this because I have almost all video editing programs and I would like to know how you got it so high resolution and hd when i render mine mines shitty ='( so if you can tell me how you rendered it thanks =D
For the Panasonic TM700 clip you see here, I used Sony Vegas Pro 9. The project settings were Custom 1920x1080/60 Progressive. The render was performed with the MainConcept codec. Settings were 1920x1080/30p, Variable Bitrate, 8Mbps average, 10Mbps maximum. Entropy encoding was set to CAVLC. The resulting file has an MP4 file extension. These settings give you a good file that shows great on YouTube, and when copied over to the PS3. However, rendering to 720p will save time & space.
Yes, I had the image stabilizer on, mode 1. Mode 2 is too agressive, and should only be used in extreme conditions. I should have used a tripod, but the Panasonic image stabilizer is very good, even in mode 1.
Mode 2 is too agressive for a video pan from left to right, which is what I was doing in this example of the pool. I don;t have an example, but you can see it on the LCD screen. When motion begins from left to right, the LCD image lags, then catches up. When panning motion stops, the LCD screen continues moving. This is not desirable for a horitzonatal pan. If you are pointing the camcorder in one direction, and which to reduce camera shake, then Mode 2 should be ok.
The final video lags as well... it's the nature of the stabilizer mechanism. Mode 2 really should only be used if you are filming from a moving car or boat. Mode 1 on everything else will give you the highest quality picture with the best correction for handheld motion.
@brightcarnage, I have mixed feelings about the fan. In normal environments, you cannot hear it in the resulting recording. However, in quiet environments, and indoors in general, you can hear it. You can minimize the noise somewhat, but it's hard to eliminate. I tried several external microphone offerings. The surround mics all picked the fan up. External directional mics finally worked. Still, I don;t see why a camcorder with no moving parts needs a fan. Bad design in my opinion.
@TheTastyMorsel very bad design. i have it sitting in front of me and cant decide if i should return it for a Cannon Vixia hf s20 instead. how much does quality directional mic run for?
@brightcarnage - I did the same thing! I returned it and got a Canon VIXIA HF S-200. I have always been a loyal Canon buyer, but I decided to try the Panasonic. In the end I had to go back to Canon. I had too many usability issues with Panasonic. I got my HF S-200 a few days a go. I'll post some video soon. Mic cost $150 - a Rode video mic, but I got it on eBay.
@TheTastyMorsel Wow! haha, glad im not the only that felt that way about it. ill get the cannon too. which almost seems better anyway(with no fan). haha thanks!
As that recorded to the dusk? Be fixed since the light of the Sun is seen behind the trees. I do not believe that hv40 records better than the panasonic, I have l ahv40 and it records very badly with few light.
I ran some low light tests with this TM700, and the slightly darker areas were extremely noisy. I think the small Youtube screen fails to show this. Anyway, I opted to get the much better low light performing Canon HV40. If higher picture quality is what you're going for, definitely go with the tape-based Canon - Panasonic still hasn't perfected ACVHD - not at this level at least.
I thought that the Sony CX-550 had great low light capabilities and it does, but for $300 less this baby is a steal. And it performs better then the Sony during the day too. Both Amazon and B&H have this right now for $757.00 through July 3rd. It's a Panny promotion. I just ordered mine yesterday.
What's that sound in the background though? I hope it's the pool pump and not fan noise.
@familybc146 - Yes, if you expand the video description, the buzzing in the background is my air conditioning, not the camcorder fan. I was also worried at first about the possibility of the camcorder mic picking up the whir of the on-board fan, but I am pleased to say that on my TM700, this is not the case. The fan is not present in real-world recordings, only if you record in a very quiet place, indoors, and only then if you listen for it.
its not that dark .. still day time.. look at the trees you will see partly the sky..
panasonic camera very good but suffer in low light..
i recommend canon m41 or hf g10

So basically, the 700/900 has excellent low light capabilities?

Do you have the Bildsabilisator started in the video? It shakes a little.

what is the best laptop computer in the market for this camcorder to playback, edit, render, upload, etc., video to the internet, for $2000 or less?

I just got a tm700 and tried some dusk shots. For some reason my footage was very grainy, I'm going to try it again in a different location tomorrow.
