  • i just got mine!!!

  • I love my kindle touch

  • I feel that Amazon has lost their touch with the Kindle Touch.

E-readers with touch from other brands have better features and are cheaper at the same time.

Very surprising, to say the least.

I wonder what happened at the Amazon office when they let this one slip through.

  • Well I'm surprised about the linear text layout, since on the official launch they show something different on the large screen. I just saw a review by PCWorld on that, it's on the min. 1:02. I'm quite disappointed =S. I'm going for the Fire though.

  • You forgot one of the best features... XRAY!

  • eh I just want to read books..$79 is enough.

  • what do you use to record? its crystal clear quality.

  • I think there is something wrong with my kindle. Whenever i click something, anything, it takes AT LEAST 20-30 seconds to do the command. What's wrong?

  • I want to know if any kindle is able to play any kind of video format ?

  • what is the battery life?

  • can you watch vids on it

    or play games

  • I highly recommend people to WAIT FOR THE NEXT KINDLE TOUCH, as this is just the first generation of the touch. Graphical display can be greatly improved and better pdf support such as ADDING A LANDSCAPE MODE. Landscape mode for web browsing SHOULD of all been added. It definitely does feel Amazon rushed this device..

  • Question: Can you change the location of the area on the screen where you need to tap to go back to the previous page? Because the touch area for the previous page is on the left side and that seems to be designed for someone holding the Kindle with his right hand. What if your using your left hand, isn't very easy to accidentally tap on the previous page tap area?

  • Completely failed to mention the X Ray feature.

  • JUST GET AN IPAD!

  • can i still get inter net on kindle tuch?

  • @jk32841 Yea its under experimental! :D

  • @jk32841 Yes.

  • @MobileTechReview I owned a Kindle a while back, and I found that the page numbers were not shown, rather the page number was a location number, so when I wrote papers for school, I had to still find the book at a library or an online source and cite it.

Has Amazon finally started citing pages instead of locations? Thanks.

  • Can you transfer books you already have onto it even if you got some of them for free?

  • the kindle nowadays is much more then an ereader...

  • Sounds like Jodie Foster is talking !

  • I love your review. simple and detailed. one of the best in youtube, hope you will do review on all the latest gadgets too. Subscribed :)

  • @ianedwardmess Thank you! Please share our reviews with others. Thanks! :)

  • @ianedwardmess yeap, everything its perfect and fine but the shacking hand :/

  • Hey, I'm also from North Dallas :D

  • For pdf reading--only--what do you recommend (eink only)?

  • @oLACHESISo E-ink devices just can't compete with large tablets or computers. I'd pick the Amazon Kindle DX Graphite, or if you must stay with 6" readers, the Sony PRS-T1 does the best job.

  • @MobileTechReview who says e-ink must or should compete with tablets/computers? people buy kindle to read, not to play angry bird. it's the reviewer like you who perpetrate the myth that any new thing with a computer chip in it must be all things to all people.

  • @mozartman2000 Please pay attention to who we responding to. The person was asking about reading PDF. For ebooks, e-ink has a lot of advantage, but not for reading PDFs with illustrations, etc.

  • @MobileTechReview

So, are you saying the pictures won't appear in PDF files? I thought they would just show up in black and white.

  • @MobileTechReview I want only read books whats the best e-reader for me I have 150$ to spend and I cant make my choice.

  • @MrAbosaud Get the Kindle 4

  • I don't think you can, but can you play/listen to YouTube videos on the KT?

  • Good review but one thing to note...the Kindle Keyboard was pretty cool looking during it's time? That Kindle's design is stuck in the 90's.

  • you can make anyone want anything.

  • getting it on friday!

  • dude your voice.

  • @DaNcEr4LifE1656 its a girl

  • @collgamea1228 i'm aware.

  • @DaNcEr4LifE1656 its a woman..

  • What are the other types of kindles?

  • i'll take one

  • i prefer the nook simple touch

  • I think Im going to hold off and save up for the Kindle Fire then. Have to go look for reviews, wonder if I could put college books on it.....

  • Excuse, to anyone who owns this E-reader, how does this E-reader compare to the Nook simple touch?

  • "come on amazon, let me touch your kindle touch"

when comes produkt too engeland, pleaese, i hasnot read booc sinse produkt luanch, inn proteest

  • your voice makes me sick

  • @isthesilencesoloud hahahahahaha ikr?!!?!?!

  • it doesnt come with the charger?

  • I love the kindle touch<3

  • I just bought one and dragged some books to it with their covers but I can't see them. What should I do in order to see the covers of my e-books? And do I have to register in order to play MP3 files? Thanks in advance and nice video!

  • @8osman8 Use Calibre to covert to mobi files. It usually exports all the data intact. The Kindle Touch doesn't have a book cover listing view, just the text based view like older Kindles. You don't have to register to play MP3s.

  • @MobileTechReview Oh thank you, MobileTechReview, but the video of Kindle Touch's presentation does show a book-cover-listing view, that's why I got stuck :D. Try to take a look at that video and you'll find out it does have. About the MP3 player, thank you, it was a crap** question :D. Nice video by the way! PD: please, feed back :)

  • Does anyone know how Touch jives with Google and Google Calendar? Are there planner/calendar apps available? Been looking and I'm a bit confused!

  • any possibilities to buy it in italy?

  • I love my new kindle touch :)

  • does the no landscape feature also apply to graphic novels? because my sister got a kindle and i love it and was thinking about getting a Touch, but the landscape feature for graphic novels is important for some frames.

  • I often read blogs and website articles so the browser actually comes in handy! Was wondering how it would work in Canada, though (is it free? fast?)...

  • @mo42086 If you visit web sites and use the web browser a lot, consider the Kindle Fire which offers better and faster browsing experience. It's free over WiFi.

  • I just got a Kindle Touch for Christmas. I'm really looking forward to using it once I finish the book I'm currently reading :D. This is a great review/walkthrough of the device. Thank you very much.

  • @JPM2875 Thanks! And Congrats!

  • 10:54 "Johnny Vegas had an erection stronger than pestles pharmacists use to mash pills" LOL worst porno story ever! Great review though!

  • Question!

When will this be available in the UK or should this just be bought via amazon.com (the US version)?

  • You know what else is an appendage that's hanging down there that I rarely make use of?

    I do. feelsbadman.jpg

  • hello, so would Project Gutenberg books work on it?(sorry if it's a stupid question)

  • @ChioSuper94 No, it's actually a legit question because the Kindle has more strict formats than others. Project Gutenberg provides many formats; if the books are in PDF or Text, then yes, you can read on the Kindle. If it's in ePub format, then no.

  • The sony store in Canada and the US dropped the price of their E-reader as until December 24, 2011. I recommend The PRS-T1. Although the PRS-T1 has a terrible plastic bezel it can be easily covered up with a custom made Gella-Skin; and also, the white background is similar to the Kindle Keyboard.

  • is this Kindle really have Free life time 3G connection??

  • Comment removed

  • @qwertzu3 eh? it can't even load google.com or twitter?

  • @rainedFond that depends on where you live. only US kindles in the US can be used to surf the entire web over 3g.

  • @rainedFond

Yes it does, at least that's what Amazon claims. 3G is for buying books from amazon, you can not web browse though, you only can access amazon store to buy books.

  • QUESTION!!

You said that 3g version is for downloading books.right? What if my books are PDF form and i have them in my PC so instead of buying them in amazon can i download it in the kindle touch if its wifi only version?

  • @esttresjolienadine If you have books on your PC, it's easiest just use USB to copy the books onto your Kindle.

  • @esttresjolienadine it's better to use MOBI than PDF since it's much more easier to control

  • Hello!

I have a question: Can you use the dictionary as a separate application, or it is just an additional feature only when you are reading book? Thanks

  • @hixonka Yes, you can use the dictionaries as separate books. They are on your booklist, tap to launch them.

  • @MobileTechReview can the kindle touch english dictionary key in words and check up the meaning of the word? i used to use kindle 3 keyboard key in words and search out the meaning, can kindle touch do this too.. i try kindle fire ,is not happen.

  • @kindlealvin On the Kindle Touch, the dictionaries are listed together with books. You can launch a dictionary and there is a search box on top. You can search a word in the dictionary.

  • she rocks!!!!

  • @Squiel91 Thanks!

  • This is the worst e-reader Amazon has put out. No landscape mode? No hardware change page button? The page refresh rate after touch makes you wonder if you hit it right. The touch feature seems more of a pain than any advantage. Was planning to give my keyboard kindle 3 as a gift and get this. Thank you, I like my keyboard kindle better.

  • can i load my school text books onto this? im interested in an ereader so i don't have to carry all my books around with me

  • first, thank u so much. i really wasn't a fan of kindles but saw it with a friend and i really like it. but i checked amazon and find kindle fire too which is very cool and look like tab. the problem is,i want to buy kindle fire but i am not sure about reading experience. i mean does kindle fire has the same appearance of the books, bcz i saw kindle touch and was amazing( i think it is called e ink reader) but does the fire has the same appearance or it is more lik i pad ebook which i don't like

  • Great review. Much appreciated and I think you convinced me to get one. It's either buy this or buy all King's Dark Tower books. I figure this will be easier to take with me.

  • @igngig You can put all King's books on this and have room for more! ;)

  • @igngig i love the dark tower books

  • Cool I'll buy one and I saw the word shit!!!

  • Hi!

I don't own a Kindle, so I'm curious, if you take away the touch vs. keyboard factor, in what areas is Kindle 4 (or touch) better than Kindle 3 (or keyboard)? Or which do you prefer more, because from your videos it seems that you have been very happy with your Kindle 3?

    Great review though :)

  • Lisa, between the Kindle Touch 3g and the Kindle Fire which have you enjoyed using the most, which do you recommend? I like the Kindle Touch 3g because I could buy books on the go and it has an E-Ink screen, but I'm afraid I might like the Fire better because it has more features. What do you think?

  • @tesgax I really hope she answers your question. I've been arguing with myself for months now over this exact question.

  • @tesgax Different devices for different purposes. If you read a lot and for long periods of time, use an E Ink reader. I agree that the Kindle Fire has lots more features. So if you need more than just reading, give that a look.

  • I guess it would be usefull if you could add the topic's timming on the description, like: 00:00 presentation, 02:00 specs, and so on, so I can go faster to my point of interest, what do you think?,

  • how do you download PDF's to the kindle?

  • @junesgirl22 Mobi format is better than using PDF trust me i know. connect your kindle to your computer. open folder to view files.open the document folder and all you do is drag the file to the folder. :)

  • That was a very good informative review. Thanks.

  • @Nunsweepit421 Thank you!

  • I'll stay with my Kindle keyboard. If this uses the same thin plastic screen then the feel of the touch gestures must suck. I also like how she dropped the breaking DRM comment because I use Calibre too. As usual another great review.

  • Great and detailed review, thanks!

  • @FunkyMotionTV Thanks! Please share our reviews. :)

  • I use my finger to follow the line for speed reading - would it be possible on this touch or is it too sensitive and it would indicate touch by even light press. thank you

  • @osmystatocny The touch screen is pretty sensitive. If you barely touch the screen, you might get away with it. But if you put your finger down firmly, the touch screen will reactive.

  • Should I get this or the Kindle Basic

  • I have a kindle 3 and would like to upgrade. The biggest thing for me is the ghosting with each page turn. Is it noticeable enough to distract from reading?

  • @drew17026 Ghosting is minimal and if it bothers you, you can set it to refresh with every page turn.

  • @MobileTechReview great thank!

  • this seems like a stupid question but im not getting a straight answer anywhere...can this do word processing? in ANY way shape or form?

  • @ForesightFTW It would be very painful! But there is no included word processor, only the ability to make notes within a book.

  • @ForesightFTW No

It is, by design, little more than a digital book.

  • X-Ray?

  • is there any games on the amazon store?

  • Should i get Kindle touch or nook touch ?

I prefer nook UI and it's preference but i heard that it has an issue about touch screen keep freezing cannot slide to unlock.

Kindle is fine but it doesn't contain a physical page turning buttons and it sucks

cos i live overseas and I don't wanna have any issue about e reader device so help me plss

  • @parrymagpie It's not easy to buy books on Barnes & Noble if you don't access the store in the US. If you don't like the Kindle Touch, check out other Kindle readers though they don't have a touch screen.

  • Stupid question: can this play sudoku? Obviously it's going to be used primarily as a reader, but the person I want to get it for LOVES sudoku.

  • Yes please do a comparison with the Nook simple touch

  • please do a kindle touch vs nook simple touch comparison

  • Touch it!!!!!!!!

  • wonderful

  • Hi,

I need your advise of getting a kindle. I want a kindle just solely for reading purpose, and dictionary at some point when I need to find the meaning. So which kindle should I get? At first I thought of getting a Kindle touch but after I watched your video, it gave me a second thought.

Oh, and thanks for the amazing review. I really appreciate it.

  • @2425tu Maybe the plain $79.00 Kindle would be a good choice. Or,if you want an entirely different 'species' you could look at the Nook Simple Touch™ which is made ENTIRELY for reading.

  • @2425tu If you just want to read and look up words in the dictionary, all the current Kindle models will do the trick. Personally, I'd pick the Kindle Touch over the Kindle 4, because for $20 more, you get touch screen (easier to use), audio player and X Ray.

  • @MobileTechReview Wow, thank you for the answer. But I have one last silly question. Between the kindle touch and the kindle keyboard, which one will you get?

  • is the screen on the touch bigger than the screen on the keyboard?

  • @ShayminRulz Both the Kindle Keyboard and Kindle Touch have 6" E Ink displays.

  • You didn't talk about the x-ray feature! I was looking forward to your opinions. :) Overall a very thorough and competent review! Thank you.

  • @Ixlovexsharpies Not many books support the X-ray feature yet, but we will cover it in our full written review.

  • Thank you for the great review! I've been anticipating this review for a while, and once again,I was very impressed. Thanks!

  • @EasternPancakes77 Thanks!

  • Good, was waiting on this review :o) Just got mine, and loving it.

  • @evelynne1972 Congrats!!

  • I don't know why bother comparing lcd devices with e-ink devices, that's like comparing toasters and microwave ovens, two total different categories in my opinion

  • I'm curious about doc & docx files, does this Kindle accept these types of files and if so, how are they displayed? Are they displayed like pdf files? I ask because I like fan fiction as well as regular books and would like to load a few stories to my Kindle. Thanks

  • Ugh, I cant stand ink screens. Specially without smooth transition and the constant black screen loading. My sister is getting a Kindle Fire for herself and she's getting me a plain Kindle but after looking at this review i think I'm going to tell her never mind and raise money to get my own Kindle Fire for the LCD screen. The ink screen is the only thing that i don't like which is sad. xD

  • They've got some software updates ahead of them. Landscape, book progress bar, a good GUI hopefully, and an update similar to the nook simple touch's speed update would be Great

  • No landscape mode? Were they in a bad mood when they designed this? I guess I'll check out the $79 version. Thanks for the thorough review. I almost bought this, and now I'm glad I didn't, otherwise I would have to send it back.

  • Great review Lisa! I agree with all the points you made about the graphical UI and the lack of landscape mode. I would also like to add that for some strange reason, Amazon decided to remove the progress bar from the bottom while you're reading a book. The page/location and percentage still remain but these don't give you any information on where in a chapter you are and how big subsequent chapters are. I really hope Amazon updates the software to include this & the landscape mode.

  • The Kindle brand is really taking a blow right now in my opinion. No page turn buttons, no horizontal view, weird color, and stupid special offers have ruined the Kindle experience. Anyone who has ever read a PDF on an eReader knows that you need landscape view. The E Ink screen is not improved from the K3 at all, in fact, most people say the K3's screen provides better contrast. What happened here Jeff Bezos?

  • no physical page turn buttons - the exact reason why i finally went towards nook simple touch and am happy with my decision.

  • Thank you for this awesome review! :)

  • @grillinIstheLife You are welcome! Be sure to share our reviews with friends. :)

  • amazon dropped the ball on design here. the previous gen with keyboard had better aesthetic feel to it than the latest generation, all three versions. i feel they spent more time and money trying to get the kindle fire right than work on their other e-book readers. guess its off to b&n for me.

  • No page turn buttons. Happy with my basic Kindle. I don't feel that touch screen is right for Kindle. Anyhoo great review as ever Lisa. Thanks.

  • @TheHammers1969 Thanks!

  • Really... disappointing. Especially the lack of landscape mode is just strange. Sony and B&N readers are more versatile and better designed for touch interface.

  • No landscape mode for PDFs? The Sony it is...

  • thanks for this great review. helped me decide b/w the nook and the kindle. :)

  • @yoitzo Glad to help!

  • Yes, it would've been nice if there were more graphical features on Kindle Touch. Once again thanks for the great video review.

  • I hear the 3G has Wikipedia capabilities, but how does it work exactly? Is there a Wikipedia "app", or do you have to access it through the web-browser? And is it the full Wikipedia experience, or Wikipedia mobile? I heard somewhere that it offers all articles but that they removed most of the images.

  • You said the 3G version uses AT&T's network, do you know what it uses in Canada? I'd like to check coverage in my location.

  • I know the screen in terms of contrast are the same, but does the touch display add any noticeable glare or effect the visibility in any way?

  • @jumega This type of touch screen doesn't had any type of glare or similar because it's an infra red touch screen and not something that sits on top of the screen, it has some infra red sensors on all sides of the screen that retrieves the location of your finger, a pen or the like. Hope I explained myself decently.

I would buy this one if I hand't bought a Kindle 3 some months ago, I would even buy it if I had someone to give my current Kindle but no such luck.

  • @jumega Very tiny bit of glare. Nothing like an LCD glare though.

  • Never giving up my Nook! :) and I am over halfway done with 11-22-63, and its one of his best books!

  • @KiraismyLord Fast reader, that is a long book!

  • @MobileTechReview Can't put it down because it's soo good!

  • @KiraismyLord Great to hear!!

  • @MobileTechReview OMG Lisa, I just finished it. 2nd Best book by him:D sooo good!

  • @KiraismyLord So what's his best book? :)

  • @MobileTechReview IT, of course!

  • @KiraismyLord One of the few I haven't read. Have to read it now! Thanks! :)

  • Is it possible to change the frequency of full page refreshes?
