My mother and father said they saw these guys in the late `70`s live at the height of the disco craze and they said never in their lives did they ever witness so many people moved all at once since. People were dancing in the aisles and moving the same way, the Bee Gees were so good they literally took over peoples minds and forced them to move the same way while dancing. I think a lot of people believe the Bee Gees defined a genre. It might not be your favorite genre and you might be of a different era, but that doesn't make them less significant overall. They were mocked for a while, as was the whole genre, but a lot of people are coming to their senses and recognizing the incredible music of these guys, and see them as anything but a joke. And RHCP will one day look dated and silly, I guarantee. Even without the socks.

I definitely don't mock them...from someone who likes aspects of music from (mostly 70's) Yes, Kansas, Genesis, Jethro Tull, and Joni Mitchell (and others), I can also say that I liked their sound (and some other disco era songs based like Donna Summer's remake of McArthur Park)...I remember when "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" came out (before the disco era)... these guys had nice harmonies and melodies...
