Whether or not King knew the show was cancelled doesn't matter. Sometimes he asks what seem like basic or "duh" questions because he is being thorough.

The interviewers job is to ask open-ended questions in order to get a detailed response. I remember that interview. I was on the exercise cycle at the gym when I watched it. Later in the show there was some exchange about Jerry's "bee movie" which Larry was referring to as a "B-movie", and Jerry was upset about that and then Jerry made fun of Larry's clock. That's my recollection.
On a side note, I have never understood why the entertainment industry pays people the gross sums that they do. It appears to be the only industry that has never heard of the law of supply and demand. Not everyone, certainly, but at least a million people could do what interviewers like King do. I could have never heard of Seinfeld beforehand and still have conducted an intelligent interview just by reading his *Wikipedia* article fifteen minutes before air time!

Whether or not King knew the show was cancelled doesn't matter. Sometimes he asks what seem like basic or "duh" questions because he is being thorough.
There are people who have never seen Seinfeld or (like me) couldn't have given a sh*t. I thought it was an over-hyped with bitter, mean characters and couldv'e for all i knew, been cancelled.

As a reporter this is the most annoying thing in the world, why is it so hard for stupid people to understand this? The interviewers job is to ask open-ended questions in order to get a detailed response. Most of the time you already know the answer to that question, the point is to get the subject talking and put it into their own words, otherwise what the hell is the point of doing an interview?!

I remember that interview. I was on the exercise cycle at the gym when I watched it. Later in the show there was some exchange about Jerry's "bee movie" which Larry was referring to as a "B-movie", and Jerry was upset about that and then Jerry made fun of Larry's clock. That's my recollection.

On a side note, I have never understood why the entertainment industry pays people the gross sums that they do. It appears to be the only industry that has never heard of the law of supply and demand. Not everyone, certainly, but at least a million people could do what interviewers like King do. I could have never heard of Seinfeld beforehand and still have conducted an intelligent interview just by reading his *Wikipedia* article fifteen minutes before air time!

Some others think that as well, but most don’t and I’m one of them. Look at the expression on Seinfeld’s face when King indicates that he wasn’t certain if *Seinfeld* had been cancelled or whether Seinfeld retired it. The astonishment on the man’s face seems genuine to me.

I loved King’s comeback when Seinfeld hauntingly asks: “Do you know who I am?!” “You’re a Jewish guy from Brooklyn.” (“Like me,” was the implication.) True, King was losing it and should have retired long before he did. (This was not the only such incident.) But Seinfeld’s arrogance, sarcasm and disrespect to an elder statesman--and one of his own--was inexcusable.
