Great playing and a good honest review . I really like the looks and sound of these D'Angelico's. I get a kick out of people who stick thier nose up at them because they are 'laminate'. John D'angelico made 'laminate' archtops too folks besides his incredible carved guitars. Personally I'd gladly 'settle' for one of these !!! I think it's great that they take thier styling cues from the real thing.
I have the same guitar! It just does not seem to be set up properly. I love the sound you have achieved. Could you please let me know string gauge, set up specs again. I am getting it set up from a great guitar tech in Conn. I also hear a noise near the pick-up. I was told that it can be resolved. Thanks for the info! I strive to someday play like you! Jim-N.H.

Ask an Italian how that would be pronounced, you drooling idiot. In romance languages it is common to the contraction of de (meaning of) and some place name that begins with a vowel. It is NEVER pronounced Dee--whatever. Only a stupid American would same something so absurd.
My last and only comments: You say TOMAATO, and I say To MAY toe! Let's see....hmmm...
1. You INSULT an extremely talented guitar player because of his accent, ON HIS SITE!
2. You INSULT Americans, and
3. You INSULT Italians as well?
This man was kind enough to share his extraordinary talents with the viewers on youtube, and you elected to admonish him because of an accent? How's being a self-righteous bully helping you out in life pal?
Made by Peerless of Korea. They make an exact version of this guitar but with the Peerless name. I believe they make a few Gretsch hollowbodies and the Epiphone Casino.
i just got a ar910ce, very nice guitar... but very very bright and very acoustic sounding.. depends what ur after... but hard to get that electric sound out of it.
Its got a tone control... it's just the nature of the guitar.. it's a hand carved solid top with floating pickup.. is basically an acoustic guitar... a totally different beast to a 175 for example. Just wanted to point that out as you asked about the Eastmans. :)
They're made by the Terada company in Japan, a good company in itself. Having said that, the ain't the same as the original American made by John D'Angelico in New York. John made carved top guitars. These are plywood. Good guitars but it troubles me that a manufactured guitar is being sold with a handmade legend's name on it...
Having owned and played many of the original Exel's of John's, these are no way the same thing. A real D'a cannot be compared this these but for the money they are great through an amp
Hey DEACON, I finally got my D'Angelico on the tube. If you would check it out I would be happy to hear from you...Thanx @TOTOTWICE..............KEEPON STRUMMIN....DALLAS

"solid spruce top, pressed into place, not carved"
ravi48819 3 years ago
if you know necks... its equivilant to bolt on, set, and neck thru. the tops are laminated, pressed, and carved.

excel is not solid top, if i'm not mistaken
