He makes it sound like diamond is something "special." ALL gemstones are special, and many are much, MUCH rarer. Then says "no wonder it's a symbol of love." Could be because DeBeers has always made sure we all feel like there was never any substitute! Like birthstones, pure marketing hype. Then he says they're tested to see if lab grown. There is no test for synthetic (lab-grown) carbon crystal, only SIMULANTS! Big difference! But if you're dumb enough to buy diamond, GIA is the only way to go.

well, they do have resale value, just not what you might have paid. if you really want to buy a diamond and have it maintain it's resale value, buy it from a wholesaler or trader, or from a broker. the last place you should be buying a diamond from is the retail store. I've seen retail stores markup diamonds as high as 2000% of wholesale cost. So if you pay $20,000 for a 2ct diamond, you likely won't be reselling at that price....
