@mikenotnumber1 so it is MJ who was pimped huh? LOL MJ pimped the NBA and never the other way around dude. have u ever heard the nba globalizing JORDAN? LOL nice try! they banned his colored shoes for not complying with league rules. they let the pistons slaughter him and the bulls with their so called "defense". is that pimping? after he retired what happen? they change the rules... for what reason? for the new poster boys kobe and lbj to "dominate". Y? well, they aint MJ... i rest my case!
@mikenotnumber1 nobody in their right mind will disregard kobe as a great player. the problem is when so called geniuses like espn and any other analyst's and specially the kobe fans starts comparing him to MJ and claims that he is better than the GOAT then the whole so called hate erupts. it never was hate! its all about facts and the truth. when this people starts twisting it then it becomes an issue. i give kobe props but he is nowhere near MJ! stop daydreaming that he is even close.
@mikenotnumber1 first and foremost kobe is being pimped by the NBA and there's no better way to lift him up than to compare him with MJ. thanks to shaq he has a 3peat, thanks to gasol he has his 5th ring, he only showed up on his 4th ring. statistically he may end up surpassing kareem in all time career points (again ty for starting at 17 and already a ballhog... up to now). 4x all star mvp... yeah right! (again when it didnt matter)...he's never was the man they/u say he is... A FAKE!
@mikenotnumber1 Kobe's last 2 finals numbers are better than MJ's last 3??????? Whose ass did you pull that out of? What numbers? You're just making that up. It's not enough that you say his numbers are better, but you felt the need to specify, ALL OF THEM??? Are you crazy? MJ averaged more points and shot a higher percentage. How does that = Kobe's numbers being better.... ALL OF THEM. lol.
Why are you even comparing MJ's last 3? Why not the first 3? Oh right, cuz they completely destroy KB.
it does'nt matter if kobe wins more rings or has more this and that... point is HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR HIM TO GET IT!..... just fuckin too long! statistically speaking, MJ's will always kick kobe's ass and he wont be even close, at age 32 he's starting to decline. the only thing that will make him win another ring is to pirate dwight howard, dirk, durant, and make them work for his 6th ring... pathetic!
I was going to be okay with the poor quality of the game clips here but that stupid song from the guy who likes to piss on 12yo girls forced me to dislike your video
@farneyblakeley haha. Good one. Deserved, yeah, but I can't deny how good some of his songs are. Wish it was good quality too and had the time to make the same case in a shorter video. Thanks for the comment.
Is MJ the best ever? He's one of a small handful of guys you could make a case for. You could make a case for MJ, Wilt, Kareem, Magic.
Kobe has no case whatsoever. 99% of all serious basketball fans have him rated around #12. He's an all time great, but nowhere near #1. There's at least 8-10 spots between MJ and Kobe.
@StayCrispySRK Magic says he's the best Laker ever. While this year definitely didn't help his case, if he finishes his career with another ring or two and ends up with the most points scored I think he's in the discussion.
@aslangroudi He's out of the discussion and no knowledgeable basketball fan would ever put him in it. He's already played 15 seasons. He has too many negatives attached to his legacy to be considered a top 10 player.
You need to look at more relevant factors than points and rings. Karl Malone has scored more points than MJ. Nobody cares. "Rings" are TEAM accomplishments. You don't judge individual players on team achievements. Kobe played terrible in last years finals, but the team still won.
@StayCrispySRK You make some good points, rings and points don't mean everything but certaintly they're taken into account whenever the all time greats are discussed. And you also have to consider he didn't go to college so didn't come into the league with the opportunity and as ready to dominate as MJ and some of the other all time greats. It doesn't make total sense, but I sometimes think that MJ may be the better player, but Kobe will end up with a better basketball career.
@aslangroudi MJ has had a career that is out of reach for Kobe. Everytime MJ has been to the finals, he's won. 6 of 6 finals MVPs. That's out of reach for Kobe. MJ's career stats are out of Kobe's reach. His PPG is out of reach. His FG% is out of reach. His defensive records with steals and blocks are out of reach. His performance in the playoffs is out of reach. Kobe will NEVER win defensive player of the year.
How old are you? Were you around to watch MJ play? It's not close at all.
@StayCrispySRK I was around to watch MJ play. MJ's only been to 6 Finals, make any excuses you want but Kobe's been to 7 and his career is not over yet so that is out of reach for MJ. MJ does lead in those other categories but points and rings are big categories too so if Kobe finishes his career with more than MJ he's in the discussion. I'm not sure there will ever be a basketball player as popular as MJ though, that's what makes it so easy for people to hold MJ to this infallible image.
@aslangroudi Jordan was more than just a popular figure. People remember Jordan willing his team to win on the toughest stage. It's a team game, but Jordan was always the dominant figure in the Finals, which trumps any 81 point regular games against weak teams of this era. Jordan was the primary catalyst, where in Kobe's championships it was debatable who was the pimary guy Shaq or Kobe? And last year's championship where Kobe was MVP, he had an up and down series and terrible shooting Game 7.
@aslangroudi Kobe has NEVER even been the best player of his own era. During Kobe's time in the league there have been better players like MJ, Shaq, Tim Duncan, LeBron James. At no time has Kobe ever been the best overall player in the NBA. He's an all time great, but he's not in the same conversation with MJ. There's no case whatsoever to even put him in the top 5. Michael is out of Kobe's reach. Kobe will go down as a great player, but not the kind of player MJ, Wilt or Kareem were.
@StayCrispySRK Any of the all time greats, coaches, analysts, etc. have said Kobe is the best player of the last decade. It's always been someone else to debate with Kobe a la Magic/Bird like Tmac, Vince Carter, Lebron, etc. but Kobe's always been there. Yes, Kobe won't catch MJ in Final MVPs, but MJ will never be able to catch Kobe in all-nba teams and all-nba defense teams.
@aslangroudi Wow. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. You do realize that Kobe just matched MJ's 9 first team all defensive less than a month ago, right? He didn't even deserve it. Dwyane Wade has been the best defender at the shooting guard position in the NBA for at least 3 years.
Using rings as an argument is the most noobish argument in the world. It's a TEAM accomplishment. Plenty of bad players have rings and plenty of great players don't.
@StayCrispySRK Hmm, how is all-defense selected again, the coaches who know 1000% more about basketball than we will probably know, but I'm sure you think you know better than them, right? Rings are a team accomplisment, but so is the MVP, you can be the best player in the NBA but if your team isn't that good you won't win MVP. Whenever they compare best players, rings is one of the first things mentioned so it obviously has some merit.
@StayCrispySRK Wade is terrific with his on the ball defense, but he struggles to fight through screens and can slack on shooters like Ray Allen. Smaller, quicker players blow by him. I think Wade gets too much credit because he gets a lot of blocked shots.
@aslangroudi The fact that you even bring up Vince Carter and T-Mac shows how laughable your level of knowledge is. NOBODY thinks they're great players. LeBron has already surpassed Kobe as an individual player. His career numbers are already at a level that Kobe can never compare to.
Bro. You flat out have no clue what you're talking about. MJ has NEVER been outperformed in the finals. Kobe has NEVER had the best performance on his team in the finals. This dude was a terrible bench player. lol
@StayCrispySRK I'm talking about how laughable it was to have them in the discussion with Kobe but if you can remember those years back that whenever people would say Kobe's the best, people would say no Vince Carter is, Tmac is, Lebron is, all laughable compared to Kobe. You somehow know more than all the coaches, experts in the league, your the one with no clue.
@aslangroudi Yes, IDIOTS say all kinds of stupid things. Nobody with any sense ever thought Vince or T-Mac were in Kobe's league. Kobe is a top 15 player.
What are you talking about with coaches and "experts in the league". Coaches don't give a fuck about these first and second team lists. Even at that, Kobe didn't even get a majority vote. lol. The MAJORITY of coaches didn't vote for him. The MAJORITY thinks he shouldn't be on the list.
You still haven't given a single. No stats. Nothing.
@StayCrispySRK Coaches, who know 1000% more about basketball, vote for these all-nba and all-defense teams and they vote Kobe, you act like you know so much better than them. Whenever they get polls from coaches, players, gms, other experts most say Kobe is the best player in the game for the last 10 years. So you're saying somehow you know better than all of them?
@aslangroudi Have you ever WATCHED Jordan play defense? Jordan was one of the most dominant defenders in league history, at 6-6 he could block the shot of 7-footers and led the league in steals three times. Phil Jackson said Jordan would take the heart out of the opposing team by destroying the other team's best player on defense. Jordan had two seasons with 100 plus blocks and 6 seasons with 200 or more steals. Kobe HAS NEVER had 200 steals in a season or more than 67 blocks a season.
I think these playoffs ended this debate. Jordan at the same age wins his title, avg 10 more points, more rebounds, more assists, better FG% and even better 3PT% in the playoffs.
@RealGhostVision It didn't help Kobe's end of the debate, but at the same age didn't Jordan have just 3 or 4 rings, Kobe's career is not over yet so what if he finishes with more rings and more points than MJ. Then what if you can make a good case that Kobe's career is better than MJ's but MJ is the better player because his various point/assist averages are higher. But if you're going off those stats then Wilt has the best stats out of all of then...although Russell has the most rings.
I respect Kobe because he is really a good player. But he isn't a good leader. In Chicago Bulls, 23 leads the ship. In LA Lakers, 24 jumps out of the ship.
Kobe ain't no Jordan. yes! he is a great player, but not surpassing Jordan.
1 thing that separating them. its the heart. u can take Jordan's legs and arms but u can't took out his heart. HE'S WILL TO WIN.
But kobe will have done that with more years in the league. Jordan still has way more records than kobe, he's got much better game to game stats. So just because kobe will finish with more pts doesn't make him better than jordan, it's just because kobe played a lot more years. Your logic doesn't make sense. Jordan in his prime would destroy kobe from any year. Kobe right now is in the downside of his career, he's not even the best player in the league right now.
@lebron2561 not the best player in the league?kobe is in a tougher era then jordan......he is not the only entertainin player in the nba...you have lebron james, rajon rando,d wade,d rose, and etc. and the nba is is more ''juicy'' rite now.....jordans era was great.....but he was ALWAYS the best player in the nba....and others(the majority) KNEW mj was the best....kobe is KNOWN for being the best...but there are SOME who think lebron,d rose,d wade, and etc are better (not many)but that shows alot
@razzle9438 what? Kobe's era is harder? I don't think so buddy, it is agreed by true basketball observers that this era of the NBA is really thin with talent. Why would you discount Jordan's era when so many of the top 50 nba players of all time played in his era. and Yes Kobe isn't the best in the league. The guy doesn't have a good Player efficiency rating. look at this game logs buddy. When has kobe shot 50 percent in a season?
@lebron2561 ahahahah......kobe had the second greatest scoring performance of all time....idc if he shot 50 percent lol...this era has better players then the last eras.....YEAH I SAID IT......lebron is already great....but when he is done...he will be IN TOP 10 OF ALL TIME.....PROLLY TOP 5! RAJON AND DERRICK ROSE WILL BE TOP 5 PGS OF ALL TIME! THIS IS THE ERA!
@razzle9438 you gotta be kidding me right? Kobe is playing in the thinnest talent of any nba era in league history! So I'm guessing you'll take rajon and rose over magic, stockon, payton or other great pgs of years past. you need your head examined!
@razzle9438 You're so misguided to think that somehow this era of the NBA is good compared to past eras. The league sucks now, this new era of players lack fundamentals. rule changes were made to encourage more scoring but yet scoring is still down compared to other eras. Defense isn't as physical and a lot of these so called stars are getting a bulk of their points by going to the free throw line. Do your research son before you just make a statement based on your uneducated intuition.
@24nextballer Since you like stats so much...Who has a better FieldGoal% for their career? Season MJ 49% KB 45% Playoffs MJ 48% KB 44% PointsPerG? Season MJ 30.1 KB 25.3 Playoffs MJ 33.4 KB 25.5 StealsPerGame? S MJ 2.35 KB 1.5 P MJ 2.10 KB 1.4 AssistPerGame? S MJ 5.3 KB 4.7 P MJ 5.7 KB 4.8 ReboundsPerGame? S MJ 6.20 KB 5.3 P MJ 6.4 KB 5.2 He did all of this without a "Shaq" on his team; who will go down as one of the G.O.A.T. Centers in history. How is Kobe better? How?
@smokeizfire Kobe is Better Bro Stats ain't Shit I watched them both Play Kobe has A Better Pure shot he is a better Defender than MJ ...and Kobe had Shaq so Wat MJ Had Scottie and Rodman ..Pippen never finished less than third in MVP votes every year MJ won't and Rodman always led da League in Rebounding..plus after his 1st Retirement da bulls made it 2 da ECF wit no MJ any of dem Laker championship teams without Kobe i wouldn't give a good shot at being in the Playoffs
@disketry OMG You gotta be fucking KIDDIN ME!! HOW CAN ANYONE THINK KOBE IS EVEN CLOSE TO BEING ON THE SAME LEVEL AS MJ!!!!! MJ IS THE BEST EVER!! YOU MUST BE A LAKERS FAN!!!! KOBE IS GOOD BUT ANYONE WHO GREW UP WATCHIN MJ PLAY AND SINCE THEN HAS SEEN KOBE MATURE INTO A NBA PLAYER WOULD SAY THAT MJ IS WAY BETTER!!
I cant believe Kobe vs MJ is even debatable 2 some. When u look at individual stats & accomplishments MJ is far ahead. When u look at the level of defense they both played against , including rule changes, MJ is way ahead again. Those that think Kobe is better than MJ are usually just young hardcore laker fans with a biased opinion. When u look at it from an unbiased view & old enough to have actually watched them both in their careers, it seems obvious 2 me that Kobe is great but he is no MJ.
i cant belive somebody said lebron is ahead of kobe because athleticism lol! WHEN KOBE WAS 25,26 HE WAS A ATHELTIC AND SKILL MONSTER! lebron is great but he gone have to takeover and score more and make that jump shot worth something....if he want to really be on the same level as kobe and mj.....he already one of the greats...he can average a triple double but i want to see how he score at will.....how clutch he is.....and how much more of an all around player he is too! but kobe and mj is sick
kobe more range more handles.Mj 37ppg on 48% Kobe 35ppg on 45% shooting.Kobe 35% from deep. MJ 18% from deep.WTF!! Kobe has over twice as many 3pointers as jordan at a higher%.in 06 and 07 with no big man he rips for 17-50point games 4-60 point games and a sprinkle of 81.Not to mention 62 in 3 quarters against the defending west champs.Jordan never slaughtered like this guy in those 2 years.LBJ leads Kobe in most every stat like MJ but many can see its a lie on paper.
Sure. It's inevitable that Kobe will end up possibly 2nd on the all-time points list. But he needs to stay healthy for the next 5-6 years to do so. He won't surpass Kareem, but he'll be 2nd. He currently has 25790 pts at age 31. As far as individual accolades such as MVPs and scoring titles, he won't be able to do it as he is showing signs of slowing down especially with injuries and the grind of over 1000 games played.
you a dumb dam it! mj who had 74 something nba record, first all time
witl who with 72 nba record, second all time.
and now kobe of his 12 season at 30 years old in the nba but he only got around 16 or more nba record, so even if he play more 10+ years still behind mj
I think kobe has more skill then jordan and even phil jackson agrees with me. Comments on kobe vol 2 do the research. If i have to take the word of the man who coach both of those players vs the word of basketball fans. Imma go with the COACH! I won't respond to any comments unless your a pro coach or nba hall of famer you can't tell me nothing. CASE CLOSED!
Anyone who tells me that Kobe is better than Jordan is...........surprise, surprise!!!.....a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. When I ask what makes Kobe better, they tell me that Kobe had an 81 point game so he is better. Really?? I didn't know 1 game during the regular season puts you over the top as the greatest ever.
@1234bonzai Exactly. Kobe fans supplement their lack of knowledge of the old school greats w/ a handful of games from Kobe w/o consistent performance. Yes, 81 pts is great acheivement, but I'll take 10 scoring titles over that any day. And yes, most supporters of kobe being the GOAT are laker fans, and not "true" fans of the sport.
@MisterHUmster For mostly Laker fans to proclaim Kobe as the GOAT, isn't terrible. I mean he is a great player, one of the greatest to play. Laker fans are entitled to their opinion, if that's what they believe. Doesn't make them intelligent fans but at least they're supporting their guy. I've watched basketball for 25+ years and the best I've seen play was MJ #1 and Magic #2, the rest you can go many different ways. That's just my opinion but I'll bet the majority of the world agrees.
Jordan, more efficient. Jordan, better rebounder. Jordan, better passer. Jordan..more steals. Jordan, better jumper. Jordan, more blocks. Jordan,...better defender. Jordan,...played against more greats and HOF players than anyone from any era. Jordan,..more accolades., Jordan, unbeatable in the finals. Jordan, more MVP awards. Jordan,..more records. It just continues. 81 is nice. But when its against the worse defense arguably in the history of the sport,...then its just that.
He Played Against HOF's at the end of there Careers He had no Real Competition becuz da League was Suspect During His Last 3 Rings Plus Len Bias would Have Been Better than MJ and Remember wen Mj Retired da 1st time Didn't da Bulls Lose in the ECF and Kobe Plays A Superstar Every night Mj didn't and let me ask u this Most say Kobe Copies Mj alot which I agree but when Mj did his thing it was all new no 1 knew wat he was gonna due everyone knows watkobe is gonna due and they still can't stop it
@disketry What?. I've never heard ANY of what you say and i've been associated with the game on many levels for years. You're not even worth discussing the topic with. Learn the game and the association before sounding like an utter retard who don't have a clue about basketball.
@NBAGOATS Yea I see you Don't Know Basketball Its obvious becuz you had 2 insult me instead of prove me wrong I have Watched and Played the Game all My Life Its Like this If u base da greatest on Rings Its Russel if u base it on alltime points its Kareem if u base it on Career Avg's its Chamberlin ...U no nothing about the NBA if u think Im not right
No doubt Lebron is great. No question. But truly if anyone can lean on the Jordan similiarities(if he works hard on his inside game that is)it's Kevin Durant..Future Superstar, this kid has "IT" no doubt.
Great Point. Kobe never had or faced specifically & specially designed defensive patterns, schemes or traps which MJ had to endure on numerous occasions), Obviously, opposition teams thought that much of Jordan to do that to him. The NBA is so watered down these days that you can actually see the difference. Betcha KB couldnt score 50points with a triple team(let alone a double team) on him. MJ did that with conviction & they were mostly from the top sides. No Comparisons, NONE
Kobe also played in Defensively the weakest era filled with European players. NBA today is more like NCAA compared to physically grueling tough '90s & late '80s NBA MJ, Magic, Bird Era.
Still Kobe struggles to shoot over 47% FG for single season. MJ had six 52+% seasons in handchecking, physical era.
Its beyond doubt Kobe is much cheaper immitator of legendary GOAT MJ.
MJ in order to become Greatest Ever competed & defeated all: Magic, Clyde, Charles, stockton, Malone, Payton, Nique, Ewing, Miller etc etc etc. All not just allstars but future HOFmers. Played in the 2 toughest decades:'90s &'80s.
Who did kobe competed against & defeated. First he lost to Billips & then Ray allen. just allstars NOT HOFmers.
Kobe is a great player but really pales in comparison to Greatest Ever GOAT MJ.
Copying GOAT doest make you better than GOAT himself.
Lol. This Guy!!! Obviously, you've only seen Kobe Bryant play pretty much. Whereas, probably the majority of the comments posted have seen both MJ & KB play in their primes. I know i have. So in saying that, for you to get defensive over Kobe(which you prolly do better than KB)means absolutely zilch to those who have seen both at their peaks.
how is fact the fact you week ass kobe ..Kobe isnt up there wit jordan ...he has played against what mj played against..Kobe isnt even the best in his own era thats a shame lol. compare times back in jordan dayz anything was basically legal all fouls especiallly during playoff time..kobe is nothing without a stack team cant you tell ...without shaq you wouldnt even be saying this would you .. plus the nba is now marketing fo kobe to be so great..
Kobe was the reason the lakers lost to the pistons in the 2003 final. He didnt want to listen to Phil(whose plan was to go inside to shaq everytime)if you watch that series you'll see that Kobe hogged the ball everytime. I mean that lakers team had Karl Malone, Gary Payton aswell, how could they have not won. The only thing that would've prevented that was selfishness & greed. And Kobe provided that. He cost the lakers the title that year. MJ has never lost a title, now that's a real team player
wow i don't know who is better i like Kobe though really much and im just saying I HAVE NO CLUE they both play very eccelent but IDK so i just don't know i think lebron mix with kobe =KILLER so they both would kill MJ lol =)
There would be no LeBron James, no Kobe Bryant(notes), no Dwyane Wade(notes), you name all the best players in the league right now and the last 10 years, there would be none of us without Michael Jordan.
This needs to stop. Any Moron can see that Kobe will NEVER pass Mike. He hasn't even passed Magic. In my opinion, he's not even in the top ten alltime.
Since when does winning 1chip( as leader), 1mvp, 1 finals mvp, 2 scoring titles translate to being the best ever to play? Or dominating an era? ha! Shaq, Duncan, KG have that too.
You're right MJ, There will be a player greater than you. But it wont be Kobe Bryant. And that player will come along generations down the track, and he will be special, but it wont be for a long time. But you're right MJ that player will arrive, but he isnt here yet, and certainly aint around now that's for sure.
Lol. Kobe wants to be LIKE MIKE. Always has. He's copied MJ moves, he even tries to talk LIKE MIKE. Kobe has a streetballer style with alot of carbon-copied MJ moves. Michael Jordan is a fundamentally drilled with skills, athleticism & talent that redefined the NBA. Further on that, if those two players never heard of each other, never seen each other play & both were in their primes. There's no question Jordan would eat him alive. MJ's will to win will always beat Kobe's sulky, selfish demands.
I have to say yes he is better than MJ, he is just not as loved and commercilized like MJ, but his Game on the court surpasses Mj no question about it
But the term "The Greatest Player that ever played the Game" is a term that does not get thrown around loosely or ever..and the majority speaks staunchly that the title of that is all but Michael Jordan's and Michael Jordans alone. There is no comparison. Sorry to burst your bubble but Kobe Bryant said & stated so in a recent interview. Whether that registers with you may not be the case ever..lol. But each to their own. All i know is that Jordan is reknown & regarded as "The Greatest Ever"....
@height2 I agree, some of these new superstars should not be even be in the conversation with the old school greats, and definitely not w/ the GOAT. Lebron James has the potential, he is pretty much a walking triple-double machine and may possibly win atleast 5 mvps to tie MJ. But he needs to win championships before he can be considered. Kobe had his chance but that has passed b/c he may surpass the championships but not the individual accolades. Pau is his savior, lol.
so Jordan helped develop Pippen and the abovementioned. Kobe had Shaq(superstar already), and on that i dont know how you think that Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher werent already good players because they were. If anyone made a difference to the Lakers it was those players & not the other way around..Lol@Kwame Brown that Kobe made him good, that's as loose a statement if ever there's been one. It''s obvious you're a Kobe Bryant fan.
And on answering the second part of your question about Pippen's value to Jordan..there's no question. But i dont know how many times i have to repeat this, but here it is yet again, Pippen was a Bull from the start of his career, he was not a star brought in from another team, neither was Horace Grant for that matter, BJ Armstrong, Stacey King, Steve Kerr, Bill Wennington, etc etc
Season MVP's, Finals MVP's etc etc, he's done & achieved these feats countless times alot of them before he even turned 30, so if were talkin major contributions to the team Jordan's done more..it speaks for itself. And that's not even mentioning his six titles(which are a Double Three-Peats i might add),
Clearly the situation here for yourself is the credibility issue for Kobe. Will he get his due/Wont he get his due..that is the question. The only real plus for Bryant(according to yourself)is that there is time & supposed opportunities to contend for available titles(which according to the contents of your statements puts his status apparently equal to Jordans..i disagree & refute the claim to no end, but anyway), Jordan has won scoring titles, league titles, defensive titles, finals titles
The implications being, that Kobe never built the Lakers ever or even of late. Guys like Phil Jackson/Shaquille O Neal did. Kobe's had either help or assistance his whole career. Kobe never made anyone better. Jordan built the Bulls long before Phil Jackson came. They were winning games anyway. The Bulls are Jordan's Legacy. On that note, Jordan's beaten tough teams on his back, carried his team. Kobe's never beaten tough teams on his own. The record states Jordan is better right across.
Kobe never made anyone better...uhh look at Gasol, Odom, Fisher, Mihm, Kwame, Smush Parker, etc. Not all those players are good, but there is a reason they've had theyre best years when they were Lakers.....#24 Kobe Bryant!!
If you want to say that about Shaq making Kobe you can say the same about Pippen, a top 50 all time player, Jordan without Pippen in the playoffs...0-5. Never won a freaking series! The truth is that not only one player makes a championship. It's a team effort.
Jordan had help. Kobe had help. Magic had help. Bird had help. But not only does Kobe have the opportunity to be a main ingredient for more rings than MJ...individually he can finish his career with more points, rebounds, assists, than MJ. To me, that means they are at least on the same level.
I notice that it's hard for people to be objective instead of just favoring whatever they grew up with. Most of us who grew up with Jordan say he is the best ever. People who grew up with Wilt/Russell say they are the best ever. Same with Kareem/Magic. Even the young dummies now have the nerve to say Lebron is already the GOAT. Be objective, and throw away hype too....just look at basketball skill. Kobe could very well end up better than MJ.
@aslangroudi Man get that sh@t outta here. Feelings and stats are 2 different things when you are talking about Kobe and MJ. You may feel Kobe is better, but statistically he is not. Jordon averaged 30ppg his entire career...do you know how much Kobe needs to score to catch up to that? Do the math. FG%...no. 49% for a career...mind you..Jordon shot over 50% 5 years in a row. Kobe never even avg. 30ppg in his playoff career..never had a season where he shot over 50%. How can he be better?
@smokeizfire I like it when Kobe fans say "Stats ain't shit"....true phrase of the dumb ass. Every great to any sport ALWAYS had great stats to go along with their status. Can't change reality for your pimp. Butterbean bryant
@aslangroudi all MJ's ring he was the leader of the team for 6 damn rings kobe only the real leader and not role player for 1 ring not to mention fg%,3pt%, mvps, final mvps, defensive awards, etc. with harder rules where you could hand check even in double teams making it hard as hell to move and legal while your shooting throwing off your balance there is no argument.
@aslangroudi You're right about these young guns that really think Lebron is already the GOAT, lol. Imo, Kobe will end up with more points, assists, and rebounds than MJ, cuz he will have played more games. Thus far, Kobe has entered the top 10 of all-time with his fifth championship and 2nd greatest laker of all time behind Magic. But, saying that MJ is the greatest thus far.
@aslangroudi Lebron does in fact have a good chance of catching MJ in accomplishments as he is only 25, and has already won 2 mvps with avgs of 30/7/7 consistently(phenominal). He may be the one to succeed MJ, but thus far he is still a mile away b/c he hasn't won a ring yet. He is arguebly the best overall player today, but Kobe is a close second(he has supplemented his lowered athleticism with key intangibles and still the most clutch player in the gm)
@aslangroudi There is a difference between Pip and Shaq...while Shaq was on the Lakers he was the best player on those teams not Kobe.....Mj never took a backseat to Pip...Shaq did most of the heavy lifitng during those Laker runs. Not tryig to hate on Kobe just saying.
If Shaq never went to the Lakers i dont think Kobe would have no rings & looked at as a ball-hog. Granted, he's a talented player, but without those players around him, i dont think championships would've been even remotely possible. Jordan made Pippen better,Grant better,Kukoc better and they had to be, he brought iit out of them. The Lakers have a nucleus of talent to contend for the forseeable playoffs without Kobe. He's never really tested himself. Go to a struggling ballclub that needs it.
and on that, throughout Jordans title runs with the Bulls the majority of them came from players who were developed within the Bulls(Pippen,Grant,Kukoc,Kerr, Buechler,Wennington, Brown etc) with the exceptions of Rodman,Cartwright,Harper), Kobe's had Shaq for the majority of his rings, has had Horry,Malone,Payton,Odom,Gasol,Shaw etc) Lakers never developed any of them, they were stars on their previous teams before they came to LA.
The Bulls were already a winning team. They reached the conference finals 2 consecutive seasons(88,89) before Phil Jacskon came aboard. They may have lost those series, but that, if not for anything else stated that they were a team they were destined to become anyway. As for Jordans titles without Phil, where were the Bulls title runs for Phil during MJ's first retirement years - None. Then where were they when Jordan came back - (96,97,98)
And far as the Shaq/Kobe Championship debate. Granted kobe has won a championship without Shaq which came 5 YEARS LATER. Shaquille on the other hand won the title the FOLLOWING SEASON with the Miami Heat(talk about making a statement). Lakers werent a good team from the time Shaq left, they'd only starting improving within the last years through mid & off-season acquistions of..Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol, and Phil Jackson returning to the fray after a season off. JORDAN - Superior. No Contest.......
Jordan was a established player long before Phil Jackson coached his first game of NBA Basketball. And the Bulls were a team on the rise. Talk about state the obvious..lol. Later...
How many championships did Jordan win without Phil...0. Jordan got swept by Bird and the Celtics twice. Phil made Jordan better. You're telling me that if Kobe finishes his career with more rings, points, assists, etc. it is not even close to being equal between him and Jordan. I don't buy that. They'd be on the same level.
All apart from Bill Cartwright, Dennis Rodman & Ron Harper were developed from within. You like to state the historical, well here it is. Scottie Pippen developed from within, Horace Grant developed from within, Toni Kukoc came from europe never played NBA Basketball so he's also developed from within the Bulls also. They all went on to become staples within the Bulls for long periods. Kobe's had established stars come to the Lakers which helped him deluxe. And for your further information......
Payton, Fox, just to name a few, each came from winning teams. And based on last seasons final Pau Gasol should've been the Finals MVP or even Trevor Ariza. Jordan is simply better. Put both in a One on One match both in their primes. Jordan would simply school him. Too Quick, Too Fast, Jumps Higher, Talks and thinks smarter, definitely would be say more confident and just is BETTER.
Quite simply. No Shaquille O' Neal/ Phil Jackson. No NBA Titles for Kobe. Point being is that Kobe's rings have come from both Shaq & Phil being there or Just Phil being there. Shaq's proven he can win an NBA Title without Phil Jackson. Yes, Kobe won an NBA Title last year....but who was there..that's right...Phil Jackson. Jordan teams of the past had Phil too but their star talent was developed from within with the exception of Dennis Rodman and maybe Ron Harper. Kobe had Shaq,Horry,Shaw,Malone
At least Kobe won without Shaq. If you want to make that stupid Shaq argument, you could do the same with Jordan with Pippen. Did Jordan ever win without Pippen/Phil Jackson? Nope. You remember that guy Horace Grant who was an all-star and all-nba player? You remember that guy Rodman who was defensive player of the year, all-star, won titles with the Pistons, Bill Cartwright, all star.....don't act like Jordan did it alone.
is embarassing. They had an All-Star Team. Watching that final, the reason they lost was because Kobe Bryant. The gameplan was to use Shaq the majority of the time..But Kobe refused and took all the shots & missed nearly all of them. Even when it mattered he wasnt willing to do what was best for the team. And that was why they lost. Even Phil Jackson said so. Shaq went to Miami the following season and won the title..That says something. Kobe always wanted to lead but showed no examples to do so
Jordan has 9 Consecutive Scoring Titles, retired, came back & another 3 consecutive scoring tiles. Jordan pretty much has more feats than Kobe Bryant. But one thing further, yes Jordan does have six rings(everybody knows that) but what is another strong feat he's had with those titles was they were Double Three-Peats..Something Kobe hasnt done. Jordan's won all the finals he's contested, Kobe's already lost two. How they lost to the Pistons in 04 with the likes of Malone,Payton,Shaq............
mj got cut from his high school team. kobe was the only 6-6 blk guy playing in the suburbs of lower merion. mj went college and played with hall of famers. kobe got drafted, missed dunks and was quickly benched. mj averaged 28.2 points as a rookie. 2nd year, missed 64 games, but scored 63pts on a championship caliber team. kobe scored 81 on the worst team in the entire league. kobe played in shaqs shadow. mj played in NOBODY'S shadow. kobe could've been traded. mj couldn't be traded.
hmm, how could i dumb myself for that question? anywho, it pretty obvious who the better. if ANYTHING kobe has time on his side, barring injury of course. however, with these so called next jordan players running around, none of them seem to win without shaq.
kobe has made his own name...hes not consider the next jordan..hes career is carmpared to jordans career..and that winning without shaq thingy proved how vital kobe really was to the previous 3rings and how he could be a lead Guard like MJ...and im sure (barring injury) kobe will win at least two more rings at worst one more
with the constant pussified rule changes, worthless european players that seem to only replace worthless high school players, hicks that rather watch cars drive in a circle, refs that can't seem to disguise bad calls, kobe is only as good as the league allows him.
On the flipside of that, put a young jordan in todays league, and he'll dominate..Put Jordan at his peak in todays league and he'll have no match ups and no one would be able to stop him..Especially, with the way todays defense is in the league Jordan would draw fouls and buckets everytime he got the ball..Now, if they both came out at the same time and played each other..Jordan would school him..Why!!! because Kobe wouldnt have Jordan before him to model his game on...Now there's a thought.....
Put a rookie MJ in todays league. That 28.2 PPG will look like 34.2 ppg easily. inflation adjustment due to piss poor defensive rules. MJ will be dunking like 5 times every game. Plus a superb shooter.
Definitely not. Kobe's a top player above most prolly within the last 10 years..But i seriously think he cant be put in the great catergory..Jordan liked challenges and on the same token he like to challenge. He was an attacker in every sense..On top of that, put kobe in the "80's" and "90's" against the type of player and playing mentality that went on back then..the toughness the league had back then..especially on defense(Detroit Pistons), it's hard to picture him excelling.
Kobe has just as many rings as MJ at the same age. MJ will probably still have more MVP's and scoring titles, but Kobe has the opportunity to finish his career with more rings, points, assists, rebounds. If he does that, I have to say Kobe's better.
honestly...kobe is the better player ...i know its hard tampering with history becuz you have it set in your mind but you have to acccept kobe has surpassed jordan.
ive seen both play and kobe is better ..its nice to see ppl are finally seeing it too
u mean u saw jordan play as a wizard....womp womp womp...sorry major failure.....if u didn't see jordan from 84-93 u can't say u saw both of them play.
whats better? orginal nintendo or N64?....n64 right?....so does that make the original nintendo weak or less great no.....now do you understand what im saying
as time goes by it's clear to see that Kobe has SURPASSED MJ in his skills game intensity clutch all of it.
Only think Kobe has not surpassed in Mj is the marketing valuability..and accomplishments..but hey some people do not look at just NUMBERS to determine who is better..LOOK AT KOBES GAME!!!!!! NOBODY EVER PLAYED LIKE THAT.
So tell me again how he surpassed MJ..... how can you say he surpassed MJ without accomplishments? of course your gonna look at numbers how are you gonna support your arguement.. so your not gonna bring up his 81 points... your just gonna say his better coz he you like to watch him play rather than MJ... you gotta provide better arguement than better skills... clutch... yes he is clutch... how many clutch shots that are worth mentioning has he made in the PLAYOFFS? not regular season...
I don't think he wants to be like mike anymore..he knows he can be way better at this point, his game is already better he just needs more rings then mike.
good video, all that plays of kobe are amazing and i have no doubts about kobe is one of the greatest in nba history, the best of this era, and "maybe" he can be the greatest ever but right now he´s not, jordan has better stats and kobe based his game on jordan´s moves even celebrations, etc etc...so stop comparitions kobe will never be like mike, kobe is kobe let him alone. he will be the best kobe bryant ever but never michael jordan.
when Kobe plays on the road people boo him, when Mj played they cheered him..lol Media had Jordan in everyone so even on the road they cheered him..refs literately never called him for fouls..MJ the icon savior of Bball..MJ the Best ever player.
enter KObe..hated, unappreciated , his achievements insulted..screwed by refs, hated by fans even sometimes by his team mates, his whole team traded..etc
Kobe proved he can play through adversity, not only play but dominate, KObe would Humiliate Mj.
Kobe never faced real defense like Jordan, Magic and Bird. Kobe cried and complained on how the Celtics played him TOO PHYSICAL. That was nothing compared to the defense Jordan played through. Look up Jordan vs physical defense and see how hard they hit him. There were no flagrants, hand checking wasnt a foul and you will see that rival opponents didnt just want to stop Mike from scoring, but how they wanted to take him out of the game entirely.
THE JORDAN RULES will give kobe career ending injury in his prime easily. then the Knicks, then the Heat, then sonics, then Jazz & pacers. All played killer defense against aging MJ. MJ held each & everyone of them off consistently particularly the Pacers & sonics & Jazz.
Stockton steals leader & cheap defender. Peyton DPOY killer defender. Rodman the best 1-on-1 interior defender 2xDPOY ever. Russell, all def 1st team. Clyde huge wingspan terrific defender.
Cut the bullshit and stop comparing MJ to Kobe. Comapred Kobe 13 seasons to MJ's 13 seasons in terms of stats and awards; there is no comparison. Of course if Kobe plays 20 years (like Malone) he 'll pass MJ's records but based on 13 seasons alone it's not even close. Lebron however, has a chance to touch MJ. He has done as much if not more that MJ has in his first 5 seasons and he is doing it without a dominant big man just like MJ did. Unlike Kobe who ain't shit without Gasol or Shaq.
true but MJ had way more class than lebron, MJ actually congratulated opposing teams when he was eliminated from the playoffs, unlike lebron the ego maniac
i dont care what anyone says kobe is the best ever lebron is good but not as good as kobe and lebron is just starting of cores he is gonna do good but now as good as kobe he will never get 3 championships in a row
Because of the video's title, I was expecting a certain top comment. But, it's not here. So,...
Yes. KB24 mofockas.

Y? well, they aint MJ... i rest my case!
wornoutshoes11 5 months ago
@mikenotnumber1 nobody in their right mind will disregard kobe as a great player. the problem is when so called geniuses like espn and any other analyst's and specially the kobe fans starts comparing him to MJ and claims that he is better than the GOAT then the whole so called hate erupts. it never was hate! its all about facts and the truth. when this people starts twisting it then it becomes an issue. i give kobe props but he is nowhere near MJ! stop daydreaming that he is even close.
wornoutshoes11 5 months ago
@mikenotnumber1 first and foremost kobe is being pimped by the NBA and there's no better way to lift him up than to compare him with MJ. thanks to shaq he has a 3peat, thanks to gasol he has his 5th ring, he only showed up on his 4th ring. statistically he may end up surpassing kareem in all time career points (again ty for starting at 17 and already a ballhog... up to now). 4x all star mvp... yeah right! (again when it didnt matter)...he's never was the man they/u say he is... A FAKE!

RealGhostVision 6 months ago
@mikenotnumber1 Kobe's last 2 finals numbers are better than MJ's last 3??????? Whose ass did you pull that out of? What numbers? You're just making that up. It's not enough that you say his numbers are better, but you felt the need to specify, ALL OF THEM??? Are you crazy? MJ averaged more points and shot a higher percentage. How does that = Kobe's numbers being better.... ALL OF THEM. lol.
Why are you even comparing MJ's last 3? Why not the first 3? Oh right, cuz they completely destroy KB.
StayCrispySRK 6 months ago
it does'nt matter if kobe wins more rings or has more this and that... point is HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR HIM TO GET IT!..... just fuckin too long! statistically speaking, MJ's will always kick kobe's ass and he wont be even close, at age 32 he's starting to decline. the only thing that will make him win another ring is to pirate dwight howard, dirk, durant, and make them work for his 6th ring... pathetic!

aslangroudi 7 months ago
Is MJ the best ever? He's one of a small handful of guys you could make a case for. You could make a case for MJ, Wilt, Kareem, Magic.
Kobe has no case whatsoever. 99% of all serious basketball fans have him rated around #12. He's an all time great, but nowhere near #1. There's at least 8-10 spots between MJ and Kobe.
StayCrispySRK 8 months ago
@StayCrispySRK Magic says he's the best Laker ever. While this year definitely didn't help his case, if he finishes his career with another ring or two and ends up with the most points scored I think he's in the discussion.
aslangroudi 8 months ago
@aslangroudi He's out of the discussion and no knowledgeable basketball fan would ever put him in it. He's already played 15 seasons. He has too many negatives attached to his legacy to be considered a top 10 player.
You need to look at more relevant factors than points and rings. Karl Malone has scored more points than MJ. Nobody cares. "Rings" are TEAM accomplishments. You don't judge individual players on team achievements. Kobe played terrible in last years finals, but the team still won.
StayCrispySRK 8 months ago
@StayCrispySRK You make some good points, rings and points don't mean everything but certaintly they're taken into account whenever the all time greats are discussed. And you also have to consider he didn't go to college so didn't come into the league with the opportunity and as ready to dominate as MJ and some of the other all time greats. It doesn't make total sense, but I sometimes think that MJ may be the better player, but Kobe will end up with a better basketball career.
aslangroudi 8 months ago
@aslangroudi MJ has had a career that is out of reach for Kobe. Everytime MJ has been to the finals, he's won. 6 of 6 finals MVPs. That's out of reach for Kobe. MJ's career stats are out of Kobe's reach. His PPG is out of reach. His FG% is out of reach. His defensive records with steals and blocks are out of reach. His performance in the playoffs is out of reach. Kobe will NEVER win defensive player of the year.
How old are you? Were you around to watch MJ play? It's not close at all.
StayCrispySRK 8 months ago
@StayCrispySRK I was around to watch MJ play. MJ's only been to 6 Finals, make any excuses you want but Kobe's been to 7 and his career is not over yet so that is out of reach for MJ. MJ does lead in those other categories but points and rings are big categories too so if Kobe finishes his career with more than MJ he's in the discussion. I'm not sure there will ever be a basketball player as popular as MJ though, that's what makes it so easy for people to hold MJ to this infallible image.
aslangroudi 8 months ago
@aslangroudi Jordan was more than just a popular figure. People remember Jordan willing his team to win on the toughest stage. It's a team game, but Jordan was always the dominant figure in the Finals, which trumps any 81 point regular games against weak teams of this era. Jordan was the primary catalyst, where in Kobe's championships it was debatable who was the pimary guy Shaq or Kobe? And last year's championship where Kobe was MVP, he had an up and down series and terrible shooting Game 7.
Bullsfan2008DR 8 months ago
@aslangroudi Kobe has NEVER even been the best player of his own era. During Kobe's time in the league there have been better players like MJ, Shaq, Tim Duncan, LeBron James. At no time has Kobe ever been the best overall player in the NBA. He's an all time great, but he's not in the same conversation with MJ. There's no case whatsoever to even put him in the top 5. Michael is out of Kobe's reach. Kobe will go down as a great player, but not the kind of player MJ, Wilt or Kareem were.
StayCrispySRK 8 months ago
@StayCrispySRK Any of the all time greats, coaches, analysts, etc. have said Kobe is the best player of the last decade. It's always been someone else to debate with Kobe a la Magic/Bird like Tmac, Vince Carter, Lebron, etc. but Kobe's always been there. Yes, Kobe won't catch MJ in Final MVPs, but MJ will never be able to catch Kobe in all-nba teams and all-nba defense teams.
aslangroudi 8 months ago
@aslangroudi Wow. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. You do realize that Kobe just matched MJ's 9 first team all defensive less than a month ago, right? He didn't even deserve it. Dwyane Wade has been the best defender at the shooting guard position in the NBA for at least 3 years.
Using rings as an argument is the most noobish argument in the world. It's a TEAM accomplishment. Plenty of bad players have rings and plenty of great players don't.
StayCrispySRK 8 months ago
@StayCrispySRK Hmm, how is all-defense selected again, the coaches who know 1000% more about basketball than we will probably know, but I'm sure you think you know better than them, right? Rings are a team accomplisment, but so is the MVP, you can be the best player in the NBA but if your team isn't that good you won't win MVP. Whenever they compare best players, rings is one of the first things mentioned so it obviously has some merit.
aslangroudi 8 months ago
@aslangroudi So you think Kobe was a better defender than D.Wade this year? Really? Cool story bro =)
StayCrispySRK 8 months ago
@StayCrispySRK Wade is terrific with his on the ball defense, but he struggles to fight through screens and can slack on shooters like Ray Allen. Smaller, quicker players blow by him. I think Wade gets too much credit because he gets a lot of blocked shots.
Bullsfan2008DR 8 months ago
@aslangroudi The fact that you even bring up Vince Carter and T-Mac shows how laughable your level of knowledge is. NOBODY thinks they're great players. LeBron has already surpassed Kobe as an individual player. His career numbers are already at a level that Kobe can never compare to.
Bro. You flat out have no clue what you're talking about. MJ has NEVER been outperformed in the finals. Kobe has NEVER had the best performance on his team in the finals. This dude was a terrible bench player. lol
StayCrispySRK 8 months ago
@StayCrispySRK I'm talking about how laughable it was to have them in the discussion with Kobe but if you can remember those years back that whenever people would say Kobe's the best, people would say no Vince Carter is, Tmac is, Lebron is, all laughable compared to Kobe. You somehow know more than all the coaches, experts in the league, your the one with no clue.
aslangroudi 8 months ago
@aslangroudi Yes, IDIOTS say all kinds of stupid things. Nobody with any sense ever thought Vince or T-Mac were in Kobe's league. Kobe is a top 15 player.
What are you talking about with coaches and "experts in the league". Coaches don't give a fuck about these first and second team lists. Even at that, Kobe didn't even get a majority vote. lol. The MAJORITY of coaches didn't vote for him. The MAJORITY thinks he shouldn't be on the list.
You still haven't given a single. No stats. Nothing.
StayCrispySRK 8 months ago
@StayCrispySRK Coaches, who know 1000% more about basketball, vote for these all-nba and all-defense teams and they vote Kobe, you act like you know so much better than them. Whenever they get polls from coaches, players, gms, other experts most say Kobe is the best player in the game for the last 10 years. So you're saying somehow you know better than all of them?
aslangroudi 8 months ago
Respond to this video... Since you think rings are so important, Kobe needs 6 more to match Bill Russell's 11 rings.
StayCrispySRK 8 months ago
@aslangroudi Have you ever WATCHED Jordan play defense? Jordan was one of the most dominant defenders in league history, at 6-6 he could block the shot of 7-footers and led the league in steals three times. Phil Jackson said Jordan would take the heart out of the opposing team by destroying the other team's best player on defense. Jordan had two seasons with 100 plus blocks and 6 seasons with 200 or more steals. Kobe HAS NEVER had 200 steals in a season or more than 67 blocks a season.
Bullsfan2008DR 8 months ago
I think these playoffs ended this debate. Jordan at the same age wins his title, avg 10 more points, more rebounds, more assists, better FG% and even better 3PT% in the playoffs.
RealGhostVision 8 months ago
@RealGhostVision It didn't help Kobe's end of the debate, but at the same age didn't Jordan have just 3 or 4 rings, Kobe's career is not over yet so what if he finishes with more rings and more points than MJ. Then what if you can make a good case that Kobe's career is better than MJ's but MJ is the better player because his various point/assist averages are higher. But if you're going off those stats then Wilt has the best stats out of all of then...although Russell has the most rings.
aslangroudi 8 months ago
@aslangroudi BS, The debate is over. Jordan at the same age on the Laker do not get swept by the Mavs.

DALLAS 4-0 LAKERS = THUMBS UP C0ACH PHIL!
HE'S WILL TO WIN.
with0utify 8 months ago
But kobe will have done that with more years in the league. Jordan still has way more records than kobe, he's got much better game to game stats. So just because kobe will finish with more pts doesn't make him better than jordan, it's just because kobe played a lot more years. Your logic doesn't make sense. Jordan in his prime would destroy kobe from any year. Kobe right now is in the downside of his career, he's not even the best player in the league right now.
lebron2561 1 year ago
@lebron2561 not the best player in the league?kobe is in a tougher era then jordan......he is not the only entertainin player in the nba...you have lebron james, rajon rando,d wade,d rose, and etc. and the nba is is more ''juicy'' rite now.....jordans era was great.....but he was ALWAYS the best player in the nba....and others(the majority) KNEW mj was the best....kobe is KNOWN for being the best...but there are SOME who think lebron,d rose,d wade, and etc are better (not many)but that shows alot
razzle9438 1 year ago
@razzle9438 what? Kobe's era is harder? I don't think so buddy, it is agreed by true basketball observers that this era of the NBA is really thin with talent. Why would you discount Jordan's era when so many of the top 50 nba players of all time played in his era. and Yes Kobe isn't the best in the league. The guy doesn't have a good Player efficiency rating. look at this game logs buddy. When has kobe shot 50 percent in a season?
lebron2561 1 year ago
@lebron2561 ahahahah......kobe had the second greatest scoring performance of all time....idc if he shot 50 percent lol...this era has better players then the last eras.....YEAH I SAID IT......lebron is already great....but when he is done...he will be IN TOP 10 OF ALL TIME.....PROLLY TOP 5! RAJON AND DERRICK ROSE WILL BE TOP 5 PGS OF ALL TIME! THIS IS THE ERA!
razzle9438 1 year ago
@razzle9438 you gotta be kidding me right? Kobe is playing in the thinnest talent of any nba era in league history! So I'm guessing you'll take rajon and rose over magic, stockon, payton or other great pgs of years past. you need your head examined!
lebron2561 1 year ago
@lebron2561 head examined?you dont deserve a head lol! no i wouldnt take rose over magic yet! but i`d take lebron over magic......and soon rose too!
razzle9438 1 year ago
@razzle9438 You're so misguided to think that somehow this era of the NBA is good compared to past eras. The league sucks now, this new era of players lack fundamentals. rule changes were made to encourage more scoring but yet scoring is still down compared to other eras. Defense isn't as physical and a lot of these so called stars are getting a bulk of their points by going to the free throw line. Do your research son before you just make a statement based on your uneducated intuition.

@evergreen5454 You are an idiot. STATS DO NOT LIE.
smokeizfire 1 year ago

1234bonzai 1 year ago
@1234bonzai Exactly. Kobe fans supplement their lack of knowledge of the old school greats w/ a handful of games from Kobe w/o consistent performance. Yes, 81 pts is great acheivement, but I'll take 10 scoring titles over that any day. And yes, most supporters of kobe being the GOAT are laker fans, and not "true" fans of the sport.
MisterHUmster 1 year ago

No Comparisons, NONE
height2 1 year ago
Kobe also played in Defensively the weakest era filled with European players. NBA today is more like NCAA compared to physically grueling tough '90s & late '80s NBA MJ, Magic, Bird Era.
Still Kobe struggles to shoot over 47% FG for single season. MJ had six 52+% seasons in handchecking, physical era.
Its beyond doubt Kobe is much cheaper immitator of legendary GOAT MJ.
mnkhan2020 2 years ago
MJ in order to become Greatest Ever competed & defeated all: Magic, Clyde, Charles, stockton, Malone, Payton, Nique, Ewing, Miller etc etc etc. All not just allstars but future HOFmers. Played in the 2 toughest decades:'90s &'80s.
Who did kobe competed against & defeated. First he lost to Billips & then Ray allen. just allstars NOT HOFmers.
Kobe is a great player but really pales in comparison to Greatest Ever GOAT MJ.
Copying GOAT doest make you better than GOAT himself.
No sir.
mnkhan2020 2 years ago
Lol. This Guy!!! Obviously, you've only seen Kobe Bryant play pretty much. Whereas, probably the majority of the comments posted have seen both MJ & KB play in their primes. I know i have.

Or dominating an era? ha! Shaq, Duncan, KG have that too.
mjordanisnumber1 2 years ago
You're right MJ, There will be a player greater than you. But it wont be Kobe Bryant. And that player will come along generations down the track, and he will be special, but it wont be for a long time. But you're right MJ that player will arrive, but he isnt here yet, and certainly aint around now that's for sure.
height2 2 years ago

All i know is that Jordan is reknown & regarded as "The Greatest Ever"....
height2 2 years ago 3
@height2 I agree, some of these new superstars should not be even be in the conversation with the old school greats, and definitely not w/ the GOAT. Lebron James has the potential, he is pretty much a walking triple-double machine and may possibly win atleast 5 mvps to tie MJ. But he needs to win championships before he can be considered. Kobe had his chance but that has passed b/c he may surpass the championships but not the individual accolades. Pau is his savior, lol.
MisterHUmster 1 year ago
so Jordan helped develop Pippen and the abovementioned. It''s obvious you're a Kobe Bryant fan.
height2 2 years ago
And on answering the second part of your question about Pippen's value to Jordan..there's no question. But i dont know how many times i have to repeat this, but here it is yet again, Pippen was a Bull from the start of his career, he was not a star brought in from another team, neither was Horace Grant for that matter, BJ Armstrong, Stacey King, Steve Kerr, Bill Wennington, etc etc
height2 2 years ago 2
Season MVP's, Finals MVP's etc etc, he's done & achieved these feats countless times alot of them before he even turned 30, so if were talkin major contributions to the team Jordan's done more..it speaks for itself. And that's not even mentioning his six titles(which are a Double Three-Peats i might add),
height2 2 years ago 2
Clearly the situation here for yourself is the credibility issue for Kobe. Will he get his due/Wont he get his due..that is the question. The only real plus for Bryant(according to yourself)is that there is time & supposed opportunities to contend for available titles(which according to the contents of your statements puts his status apparently equal to Jordans..i disagree & refute the claim to no end, but anyway), Jordan has won scoring titles, league titles, defensive titles, finals titles
height2 2 years ago
The implications being, that Kobe never built the Lakers ever or even of late. Guys like Phil Jackson/Shaquille O Neal did. Kobe's had either help or assistance his whole career. Kobe never made anyone better. Jordan built the Bulls long before Phil Jackson came. They were winning games anyway. The Bulls are Jordan's Legacy. On that note, Jordan's beaten tough teams on his back, carried his team. Kobe's never beaten tough teams on his own. The record states Jordan is better right across.
height2 2 years ago
Kobe never made anyone better...uhh look at Gasol, Odom, Fisher, Mihm, Kwame, Smush Parker, etc. Not all those players are good, but there is a reason they've had theyre best years when they were Lakers.....#24 Kobe Bryant!!
If you want to say that about Shaq making Kobe you can say the same about Pippen, a top 50 all time player, Jordan without Pippen in the playoffs...0-5. Never won a freaking series! The truth is that not only one player makes a championship. It's a team effort.
aslangroudi 2 years ago
Jordan had help. Kobe had help. Magic had help. Bird had help. But not only does Kobe have the opportunity to be a main ingredient for more rings than MJ...individually he can finish his career with more points, rebounds, assists, than MJ. To me, that means they are at least on the same level.
aslangroudi 2 years ago
I notice that it's hard for people to be objective instead of just favoring whatever they grew up with. Most of us who grew up with Jordan say he is the best ever. People who grew up with Wilt/Russell say they are the best ever. Same with Kareem/Magic. Even the young dummies now have the nerve to say Lebron is already the GOAT. Be objective, and throw away hype too....just look at basketball skill. Kobe could very well end up better than MJ.
aslangroudi 2 years ago
@aslangroudi Man get that sh@t outta here. Feelings and stats are 2 different things when you are talking about Kobe and MJ. You may feel Kobe is better, but statistically he is not. Jordon averaged 30ppg his entire career...do you know how much Kobe needs to score to catch up to that? Do the math. FG%...no. 49% for a career...mind you..Jordon shot over 50% 5 years in a row. Kobe never even avg. 30ppg in his playoff career..never had a season where he shot over 50%. How can he be better?
smokeizfire 1 year ago
@smokeizfire I like it when Kobe fans say "Stats ain't shit"....true phrase of the dumb ass. Every great to any sport ALWAYS had great stats to go along with their status. Can't change reality for your pimp. Butterbean bryant
NBAGOATS 1 year ago
@aslangroudi all MJ's ring he was the leader of the team for 6 damn rings kobe only the real leader and not role player for 1 ring not to mention fg%,3pt%, mvps, final mvps, defensive awards, etc. with harder rules where you could hand check even in double teams making it hard as hell to move and legal while your shooting throwing off your balance there is no argument.
BTAKVE 1 year ago
@aslangroudi You're right about these young guns that really think Lebron is already the GOAT, lol. Imo, Kobe will end up with more points, assists, and rebounds than MJ, cuz he will have played more games. Thus far, Kobe has entered the top 10 of all-time with his fifth championship and 2nd greatest laker of all time behind Magic. But, saying that MJ is the greatest thus far.
MisterHUmster 1 year ago
@aslangroudi Lebron does in fact have a good chance of catching MJ in accomplishments as he is only 25, and has already won 2 mvps with avgs of 30/7/7 consistently(phenominal). He may be the one to succeed MJ, but thus far he is still a mile away b/c he hasn't won a ring yet. He is arguebly the best overall player today, but Kobe is a close second(he has supplemented his lowered athleticism with key intangibles and still the most clutch player in the gm)
MisterHUmster 1 year ago
@aslangroudi yes.....you seem like a ''fair judge''!
razzle9438 1 year ago
@aslangroudi There is a difference between Pip and Shaq...while Shaq was on the Lakers he was the best player on those teams not Kobe.....Mj never took a backseat to Pip...Shaq did most of the heavy lifitng during those Laker runs. Not tryig to hate on Kobe just saying.
GWDPREZ07 11 months ago
@height2 kobe ALWAYS make his teamates better!
razzle9438 1 year ago
If Shaq never went to the Lakers i dont think Kobe would have no rings & looked at as a ball-hog. Granted, he's a talented player, but without those players around him, i dont think championships would've been even remotely possible. Jordan made Pippen better,Grant better,Kukoc better and they had to be, he brought iit out of them. The Lakers have a nucleus of talent to contend for the forseeable playoffs without Kobe. He's never really tested himself. Go to a struggling ballclub that needs it.
height2 2 years ago
and on that, throughout Jordans title runs with the Bulls the majority of them came from players who were developed within the Bulls(Pippen,Grant,Kukoc,Kerr, Buechler,Wennington, Brown etc) with the exceptions of Rodman,Cartwright,Harper), Kobe's had Shaq for the majority of his rings, has had Horry,Malone,Payton,Odom,Gasol,Shaw etc) Lakers never developed any of them, they were stars on their previous teams before they came to LA.
height2 2 years ago
The Bulls were already a winning team. They reached the conference finals 2 consecutive seasons(88,89) before Phil Jacskon came aboard. They may have lost those series, but that, if not for anything else stated that they were a team they were destined to become anyway. As for Jordans titles without Phil, where were the Bulls title runs for Phil during MJ's first retirement years - None. Then where were they when Jordan came back - (96,97,98)
height2 2 years ago
And far as the Shaq/Kobe Championship debate. Granted kobe has won a championship without Shaq which came 5 YEARS LATER. Shaquille on the other hand won the title the FOLLOWING SEASON with the Miami Heat(talk about making a statement). Lakers werent a good team from the time Shaq left, they'd only starting improving within the last years through mid & off-season acquistions of..Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol, and Phil Jackson returning to the fray after a season off. JORDAN - Superior. No Contest.......
height2 2 years ago
Jordan was a established player long before Phil Jackson coached his first game of NBA Basketball. And the Bulls were a team on the rise. Talk about state the obvious..lol. Later...
height2 2 years ago
How many championships did Jordan win without Phil...0. Jordan got swept by Bird and the Celtics twice. Phil made Jordan better. You're telling me that if Kobe finishes his career with more rings, points, assists, etc. it is not even close to being equal between him and Jordan. I don't buy that. They'd be on the same level.
aslangroudi 2 years ago
All apart from Bill Cartwright, Dennis Rodman & Ron Harper were developed from within. You like to state the historical, well here it is. Scottie Pippen developed from within, Horace Grant developed from within, Toni Kukoc came from europe never played NBA Basketball so he's also developed from within the Bulls also. They all went on to become staples within the Bulls for long periods. Kobe's had established stars come to the Lakers which helped him deluxe. And for your further information......
height2 2 years ago
Payton, Fox, just to name a few, each came from winning teams. And based on last seasons final Pau Gasol should've been the Finals MVP or even Trevor Ariza. Jordan is simply better. Put both in a One on One match both in their primes. Jordan would simply school him. Too Quick, Too Fast, Jumps Higher, Talks and thinks smarter, definitely would be say more confident and just is BETTER.
height2 2 years ago 2
Quite simply. No Shaquille O' Neal/ Phil Jackson. No NBA Titles for Kobe. Point being is that Kobe's rings have come from both Shaq & Phil being there or Just Phil being there. Shaq's proven he can win an NBA Title without Phil Jackson. Yes, Kobe won an NBA Title last year....but who was there..that's right...Phil Jackson. Jordan teams of the past had Phil too but their star talent was developed from within with the exception of Dennis Rodman and maybe Ron Harper. Kobe had Shaq,Horry,Shaw,Malone
height2 2 years ago
At least Kobe won without Shaq. If you want to make that stupid Shaq argument, you could do the same with Jordan with Pippen. Did Jordan ever win without Pippen/Phil Jackson? Nope. You remember that guy Horace Grant who was an all-star and all-nba player? You remember that guy Rodman who was defensive player of the year, all-star, won titles with the Pistons, Bill Cartwright, all star.....don't act like Jordan did it alone.
aslangroudi 2 years ago
is embarassing. Kobe always wanted to lead but showed no examples to do so
height2 2 years ago
Jordan has 9 Consecutive Scoring Titles, retired, came back & another 3 consecutive scoring tiles. Jordan pretty much has more feats than Kobe Bryant. But one thing further, yes Jordan does have six rings(everybody knows that) but what is another strong feat he's had with those titles was they were Double Three-Peats..Something Kobe hasnt done. Jordan's won all the finals he's contested, Kobe's already lost two. How they lost to the Pistons in 04 with the likes of Malone,Payton,Shaq............

AvEryBadApPLe 2 years ago
kobe has made his own name...hes not consider the next jordan..hes career is carmpared to jordans career..and that winning without shaq thingy proved how vital kobe really was to the previous 3rings and how he could be a lead Guard like MJ...and im sure (barring injury) kobe will win at least two more rings at worst one more
rome3724 2 years ago
with the constant pussified rule changes, worthless european players that seem to only replace worthless high school players, hicks that rather watch cars drive in a circle, refs that can't seem to disguise bad calls, kobe is only as good as the league allows him.
AvEryBadApPLe 2 years ago 2
On the flipside of that, put a young jordan in todays league, and he'll dominate..Put Jordan at his peak in todays league and he'll have no match ups and no one would be able to stop him..Especially, with the way todays defense is in the league Jordan would draw fouls and buckets everytime he got the ball..Now, if they both came out at the same time and played each other..Jordan would school him..Why!!! because Kobe wouldnt have Jordan before him to model his game on...Now there's a thought.....
height2 2 years ago
Put a rookie MJ in todays league. That 28.2 PPG will look like 34.2 ppg easily. inflation adjustment due to piss poor defensive rules. MJ will be dunking like 5 times every game. Plus a superb shooter.

Definitely not. Kobe's a top player above most prolly within the last 10 years..But i seriously think he cant be put in the great catergory..Jordan liked challenges and on the same token he like to challenge. He was an attacker in every sense..On top of that, put kobe in the "80's" and "90's" against the type of player and playing mentality that went on back then..the toughness the league had back then..especially on defense(Detroit Pistons), it's hard to picture him excelling.
height2 2 years ago
Kobe has just as many rings as MJ at the same age. MJ will probably still have more MVP's and scoring titles, but Kobe has the opportunity to finish his career with more rings, points, assists, rebounds. If he does that, I have to say Kobe's better.
aslangroudi 2 years ago
Yet 3 of Kobe's rings were courtesy of his master Shaq who owns 3 NBA finals MVPs. Kobe's finals match ups has also been very very poor compared to MJ
MJ vs Magic
MJ vs Clyde
MJ vs Charles
MJ vs Payton
MJ vs Stockton
MJ vs Stockton
notice all true HOF players.

when Kobe plays on the road people boo him, when Mj played they cheered him..lol Media had Jordan in everyone so even on the road they cheered him..refs literately never called him for fouls..MJ the icon savior of Bball..MJ the Best ever player.
enter KObe..hated, unappreciated , his achievements insulted..screwed by refs, hated by fans even sometimes by his team mates, his whole team traded..etc

Clyde huge wingspan terrific defender.
the list goes on & on & on.

95-96 Magic were swept in the playoffs easy, because of MJ's will from
last seasons loss..... they had a record of 60-22 with Shaq/Penny.
92-93 62-20 Phoenix Suns were beaten in the finals in 6 games
somehow Barkley got MVP although MJ had 32.6/6.7/5.5 campaign
averaged a finals record of 41.0 PPG during the six game series
scored 40 or more in 4 consecutive games
!!!!
93-94 - Bulls 55-27 record
94-95 Chicago was 31-31 at mid-March before Jordan's return
musicsdarkangel 2 years ago
90-91 - Jordan set franchise records, first 61 wins
beat LA 4 games to 1, 15-2 during playoffs,
during finals, 31.2 ppg with 56% shooting, 11.4 assists, 6.6 rebounds,
2.8 steals, and 1.4 blocks!!!
91-92 - 67-15
beat blazers in finals, Jordan 35.8 PPG, 4.8 rpg, 6.5 apg
53% from floor in that series
in the first game of that series, Jordan scored a finals-record 35 points
in the first half, including a record-setting six three-point field goals.

In 1988-1989, Jordan averaged 32.5 ppg and a whopping 8.0 rbpg and
8.0 apg to go along with nearly 3 spg. In that season, he shot an incredible 53.8% from the field and 85% from the line.
95-96, when 3-point line was made shorter, Jordan was 111/260, .427 from 3
and for a guard, an excellent rebounder at 6.2 per game.
He has set records for blocked shots by a guard.
Steals are 2nd highest of all-time behind Stockton.
Steals per game average is 3rd all-time.

NBA Defensive Player of the Year and record nine-time NBA All-Defensive First
Team selection (1987-88 to 1992-93, 1995-96 to 1997-98) Holds the NBA record for most consecutive games scoring in
double-digits (842)
As a rookie, Jordan averaged 28.2 ppg, 6.5 rbpg and 5.9 apg,
while shooting 51.5% from the field and 84.5% from the line.
No one can boast of those percentage even in their best
