I love those shots of them pouring the petrol with a little square gas can and squirting oil into the engine parts from that little oil can. Priceless stuff.
OTOH, in retrospect, it's alarming to see the lack of safety equipment back then. They still didn't have racing harnesses. I don't think they even had lap belts. Sad to think of the consequences of all of that in too many accidents. The courage of those drivers was off the charts. I'll never stop mourning Jimmy Clark...
Absolutely amazing footage! Thank you so much for posting this. Lotus & Clark at their best. Jimmy hadn't even *seen* the car before: mind boggling. Considering the poor reliability of record of Lotuses at that time, it's incredible that it made it all the way to the end. Both Hill (until his car quit) and Clark were flying.
Thanks for the great memories! I was a big Clark fan as a 15 year old and watched a lot of these races on Wide World of Sports. Some great racing, and no seat belts!
Great camera work in those days, also hat off to the cameramen back then venturing so close to the track! Also narrator was fun to listen to.
And not to forget - great show of skill and speed by one of the immortals of motorsports - Jim Clark! Not to mention nice 50% success for Lotus and Ford with a brand new almost untested car!

Who is that guy at the very last spot in a Formula 2 ?

@elsspoel According to F1.com that would have been Bruce McLaren in the McLaren BRM M4B who crashed out in the first lap.
