  • I think this was cancelled cause it looks like Jeopardy! a lot with the exception of the SPRINT ROUND.

  • @tpir1972 Not only that, despite the fact that it had already been cancelled for a couple of years at the time, the sprint round was taken from Sale of the Century. However, this was kind of an update of The Who, What, or Where Game, which ran on NBC from 1969-1974, and hosted by Art James. Ron Greenberg Productions was involved with both versions.

  • Go to your room, judge.

  • I knew this was a hard quiz. I just didn't think it was that hard!

  • I love how they would tell the exact date of the show so you know right when it aired.

  • @Dodgerfn5 Not top mention you'd know the show was taped no more than a week earlier.

  • I love the current events approach this show took. It was rare for a game show to do this, and I'd love for another current events type game show, whether it be a revival of this or a whole new show, show up on TV today.

  • I made a board like that and since 2009, every April Fool's Day, I show it to many teachers and students at school and they love it. Hard to believe today is exactly 20 years since this prank happened.

  • That is Don Morrow announcing "The Challengers".

  • Unlike Jeopardy! the champions total here is displayed on the scoreboard.

  • they tape 5 shows in one day! In 1991 alex trebek hosted 3 different game show at the same time! 1. jeopardy SYNDICATION 2.classic concentration on NBC 3. to tell the truth on NBC!

  • i was born in april 1 1991 :)

  • kurt spoiled guy tontis chance of being a five day champion on jeopardy in 1986

  • wait, what was the joke category?

  • @VmKid - They all were...you wouldn't expect to see such extremely difficult categories, right?

  • Too bad Dick didn't do "The $100,000 Pyramid" this year instead of John Davidson!

  • You're right; it would be pretty much difficult, if not impossible, to host two syndicated game shows simultaneously.

  • But Richard Dawson did it when he started to host the nighttime version of "Family Feud" in 1977, along with the daytime version, and his other duties as a panelist on "Match Game."

  • And let's not forget Alex being able to host 3 shows at the same day for 4 months: To Tell the Truth, Concentration, and of course, Jeopardy.

  • can I see "the judge" intervenes in a episode of The Challengers besides the April fools episode.

  • just hear that audience roar with laughter at 2:42

  • Looks like a good round so far. That sprint round went well with afew mistakes along the line; none of that would be as great as for what happened next. Anytime it's April Fools Day people will do what they can to stir up a surprise for whoever the inteded victim is. The judges comment seemed like he was on it although he appeared to deny it by not saying anything about Burundi. It was pretty hilarious since it was for the contestants; sound like low budget catagories to me.

  • lol @ Kurt: "I would have cleaned up on Burundi"

  • Kurt that would've happened if you lived in a perfect world but.... we near immortals lived all over the world.

  • I remember it.

  • The April Fools categories were hilarious! "Politics of Berundi" "Quantum Physics" etc.... Even Dick tells the Judge "Go to your room!"

  • 2:42 the video wall says "april fool!"

  • That is so classic, and why it is not on the Most Outrageous Moments is beyond me.

  • 2:44 two words. April Fools.

  • Comment removed

  • In addition, the judge's name was Gary Johnson, who would later go on and become one of the producers of Jeopardy!.

  • 3:03 there he is

  • Originally, if a player missed during the Challengers' Sprint, the others got to try.

  • i guess this was during the time of the ultimate challenge right?

  • I think the ultimate challenge was eliminated from the format at this point.

  • what station was this taped from?

  • This show is a revival of the 1960s-early '70s game show "The Who, What, Where Game," only that all winnings aren't put on a credit card on the W3 show.

  • LOL! THAT WAS HILARIOUS!

  • I like this show!

  • Me too. This, along with other game shows such as Hit Man, Press Your Luck, Blockbusters (U.S. version), High Rollers (1987-1988 syndicated version), Monopoly, and Merv Griffin's Crosswords, deserved much longer runs.
