  • even if its un finished it sound fuckin amazing

  • f'n awesome shit,be careful them cottonmouths

  • I died and wynt to hyvyn.

  • Nuthin fancy outtake, a great song. 70s rock was so badass, bands were made up of friends, not hand picked one by one by record company execs for their looks. They actually practiced in "hell houses" and toured for years in honky tonks honing their stuff. Skynyrd were street people, the real deal.

  • This Tune Sorta Reminds Me of Railroad Song, Just Saying.

  • there is such precious little of Ronnie's work, but thank God for what we Do have!

    thanks for posting!!

  • Why was rock n roll in the 70's so badass? And why can't today's music be this badass?

  • @HearingLossProvider Because all the so called "rock bands" of today have no soul, just money hungry in the right at the right time to make a million bucks. These guys NEVER saw money like they see today. If they wanted to make millions they had to keep on going long hours and stay on the road. They had passion, spirit and drive. Rock music today is written and produced by the "gimme gimme" era. Go in a music store and see what the kids are trying out for amps and guitars.

  • @MrPROUSA I can't go into a store without hearing at least one twelve year old awkwardly playing the intro to Sweet Child O Mine with a Dean Razorback through a Line 6 with way too much distortion.

  • @HearingLossProvider Excellent case in point..... I was in Guitar Center with my 1997 EVH Wolfgang Special plugged into a used Peavey 5150 II and the kid next to me was playing a Krank. I said try this amp out its much better. He said what is it, it looks old? I said yeah youre right nevermind..... LMFAO!!!!

  • @MrPROUSA Kids dont know about lovin the tubes

  • Damn right. Tune into your local "new rock" station and see what passes as rock today. Nothing but over-distorted, dreary four-chord "songs" with no passion or energy or catchiness. And these no-talent poseurs are making millions. Lenny Kravitz is right, rock n roll is dead.

  • @travlnmn41

rock and roll is not dead it is not the main stream thing right now but there were other times where its has not been and the is plenty of people who like and still play good rock but it is people like you who are really killing it instead of just sitting there and saying "rock an roll is dead" get off your ass and play some GOOD OLE ROCK AN ROLL

  • Did anyone notice that Ronnie Van Zant was bare footed here ... he said he never wore shoes when performing so he could feel the heat from the stage! Just a lil FYI for ya! ;o)

  • @flossyjean : Ronnie was ALWAYS barefoot on stage. He said he liked "...TO FEEL THAT STAGE BURN...". Ask him.

  • this is a very early Skynyrd photo with King on bass.

  • If you wanna hear another unreleased gem from Skynyrd...check out 'Road Fatigue"

  • amazing

  • i heard some one say vanzant blood 17 year old kid plays drums,,the band was ANTLER ANNIHILATION ,,they are on face book,, all i was told is that his dad is a cuz of the vanzants if that is true thier is one bad ass drummer up and coming and the music lives on they say the kid can play any and all types

  • @ThePearldemon i cant recall if it was the drummer,or guitarist.i can be wrong here, but i think it was robbie morris,of the johnny van zant band, was a cuz also!

  • all i know ,,i was in this small club in fern, bch north of jax last fri night,,this kick ass metal band was playing i got to watching the drummer and it hit me this is a kid behind them drums,,i asked some one how old he was they said 17 and hang around and watch his solo so i did !!! lets just say i have not seen a solo like that in years he got a 20 buck tip from me!!!! i was talking out side to some one that knew the family for years and said who would think vanzant blood playing metal

  • Are you sure it was during Nutin Fancy Artimus was the drummer by then, thats Bob Burns on drums in the picture

  • @Freebird109 by burna dropped out when the sessions were going on before they made the album anywyas

  • @Freebirdbob burns dropped out during the nutin fancy album he did a few songs with them in the album but still dropped out because he had health condtions and was in bad shape

  • @Freebird109 Bob Burns played on Saturday Night Special..That was it...They picked up Artimus on a recommendation from Toy Caldwell...Artimus was living in Spartanburg,,SC...Did a rehearsal with Leon and Allen i believe and LS was in Nashville...Artimus and his wife met the band and RVZ hired him..Gave him some like 10,000 in a paper sack to get him started!

  • @Freebird109 positive!

  • @Freebird109 that is bobby your right

  • Just a one of those skitter body, make your body sweat. And a twelve foot she gator, scare you slaped to death/ And they got them cotton mouths about as mean as can be, and if he bites you/ your maker your gonna see/ and don’t forget the mud son, its as deep and a creek/ and so ole razor body goin chase you up a tree..And they got them bob cats gonna tear you limb from limb/ and if you get lost your chances are mighty slim!

  • just a way of warning where stranglers are found..cotton mouth country...No place to fool around!

  • well there is an ole sayin/ everybody knows its true

home sweet home/ is the place thats best for you

i likes to travel, i do likes to roam, but when i get that fever the boy got to go back home....i seen them city folks try to movin way down south, try to tell them swampin people, what its all about...i seen them city people try to live in the bayou// get your own home, if ya play boy a fool....way down south them cotton plays, you gotta be careful for the gators and the snakes

  • i think this is my new favorite skynyrd song...thank you so much for putting it on youtube...

  • lol ronnie looks like some women on this picture :D

  • @MegaSpeedoflight hahaha

  • download Getgo Youtube converter. It converts vids to mp3 :)

  • @cableguysacto u can also use loudtronix.me to convert youtube vids into mp3 format for free :o)

  • Ok, seriously, where can I get this?

  • Man that Les Paul looks fresh DAMN sounds FRESH TOO!

  • Ok. So we know it was an unreleased "Nuthin' Fancy" song, but is it actually on a CD? If so, what's it called & where can I find it ('cause I wan'na put this one on my MP3 player SOON!)?

  • a song with a great beat so underated

  • yes this is rare skynyrd that gets my soul, feet n head tappin and a bobbin'....as if i were in the studio. Livin' in cottonmouth country boys!

  • Love Leons bass lines in this. Such a tough sound. Really way too bad it hasnt been released on one of Skynyrds re-releases as a bonus track. Would be a COOL cover for a band like Blackberry Smoke for their new CD this year.

  • Does anyone know the lyrics to this incredible song? I think I have most of them figured out, but there are a few spots where I am not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Damn... I swear... who the hell decided NOT to release this song!? I'll bet they have a ton or more of unreleased gold that'll never see the light of day... what a shame

  • ottonmouth country??????thought that was Burbank CA, oooooooooh thats what this is about - snakes that BITE!!

  • man this is awesome...way back with bob burns and allen king on bass...vintage

  • Rik Yarbrough wrote this, and also "Whiskey Rock-a-roller". He was the frontman and bass player for a band called "Cottonmouth" in Skynyrd's hometown.

  • @mattpowell904 ur wrong, ronnie, billy and ed wrote Whiskey rock -a- roller

    LONG LIVE ROCK 'N' ROLL

  • skynyrd played the dirtiest badass rock ever the would have been the biggest band in the world -fucking plane

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd is the best band EVER!!!!!!!!

well the original not the new skynyrd

  • this shit is awsome..

  • tony where do you get this stuff..Do you have any pics of hell house.I can only find one on utube

  • i have a cottonmouth tattooed on my chest, they should be the mascot for the south since theyre everywhere.

  • @facemcnasty Totally, man. I could just see that flag: A cottonmouth superimposed over a Southern cross with the inscription "Don't Tread On Me!" Two great flags put together (substituting a Cottonmouth for a rattler), the sign of a true rebel and a true rebel people! Dude, I'm gonna get one of those made! I'll fly it in my yard if I ever have a yard! Maybe put the snake in striking pose, too, instead of crawling on the ground. Right on!

  • The lyrics were awkward.....you have to remember, during this time they were being pressured to come up with stuff in the studio; this song didn't have the benefit of being conjured up at hell house like all the other classics were. Half of NUTHIN' FANCY was just that, nothin' fancy....only one song written in the studio on the album was worth a hoot - Whiskey Rocka Roller. On the Hunt and Sat. Night Special were written at hell house.

  • I get cottonmouth sometimes..

  • priceless baby

  • I killed a cottonmouth this weekend

  • i love this song ronnie your one bad bad man..

  • rumor has it that there is A LOT of tracks from the pre crash skynyrd not released....

  • @simpleman11585 oh man there has to be...I'm sure there are some that are still waiting on the shelf for future releases...this song here was given to me back in 1997 on a cassette tape...drove me crazy that they didn't finish it...

  • Dadgum thats an awesome song, why wouldn't you release that

  • No really sure if Ronnie is mad, as he said the same thing Sh* it in another song later on....Does anybody remember..? From Gimmie back my bullets..

  • i believe it was double trouble but he never really sayed it it was sorta implied"jump in a rosebush come out smellin like sh.."

  • @BoydZart it was the song double trouble! "jump in a rosebush come out smellin like sh..."

  • He says "Shit.... cut,cut,cut

  • I want the LYRICS!!!!

  • So listen to it and write it down, like people used to do... pretty easy solution

  • The hook sounds a little like Aerosmith. Same chord progression Perry likes. Man, Ronnie VZ is incredible.

  • i thought he said fuck

  • this song was supposed to be on the new cd God & Guns, don't know what happened

  • @domin77148 Where'd you hear that? Dude, this song was back in 1975 - God & Guns came out in 2009! Different singer and everything!

  • @13ShadowsintheGrave

They were going to remake the song for God & Guns. I think Ed King put a stop to that.

  • @domin77148 Too bad. Woulda been a pretty cool version, I think.

  • This is vintage Skynyrd like before they got a contract ! Enjoy !!

  • Comment removed

  • He doesn't just say cut. He said son of a bi*** just before that. My guess a string broke or there was another equipment failure.

  • he said shit then he said cut

  • to end the song

  • can anyone hear why he said cut?

  • i heard nobody ever messed with ronnie van zant cuz he could beat the shit out of everybody

  • its true

  • hahaha thats so true.

  • yeah i saw some pictures like that

  • you have no idea how great onnie was he and the origanal members are the first i wanna see when i meet my maker ..

  • how about that picture? Ed King on BASS! Ronnie skinny as a rail and barefoot (as always, but in a bar? more dangerous than cottonmouth country!) And Rossington with his knees locked together. Where is this, Phunnochios?

  • Ed did so much for that band......

  • i love all i can do is write about it what album is that off of , thanks

  • gimme back my bullets

  • thank you man u know i was just thinkin but i wanted to start a survey somehow about LS and CCR since both were only around 4 or 5 yrs, i just wanted peoples opinion on both groups pros and cons.

  • seems like a good idea i loved both bands but i will always have to gived the edge to skynyrd

  • and yalls pretty sure that this was Ronnie van Zants voice at the end??

  • sometimes it looks like gary had a goldtop not a sunburst

  • he did

  • Funny you should say this... A friend of mine has pictures of Gary with his '58, a Goldtop, a sunburst Deluxe and a goldtop Deluxe. He also has Allen with a Flying V

  • I wish I had a time machine and I would go back to the 70's and hang with a bunch of heads the day the new Stones album came out or the day the new Skynyrd album came out, etc. Back when you had to go get it at the store. Would be a great time. Bell bottoms and super hair. And that sweet, sweet 70's music

  • i used to go to Goldblatt's dept. store in the 70's and thumb through all the albums. go home and listen to it, study the cover art, flip it over and hear the other side, its a totally different experience than poppin' in a CD or downloading a mp3 UGH! 1973 what a year!

  • Is it just me or can you not find anything on here about "South of Heaven"? One of my favorite songs and cant find it anywhere, just slayer.

  • Another first for me. Where do you find this hidden Skynyrd ? ...you tube ?

  • or he didn´t the"rudiments"mood at all..

  • just one litte skeeter bite, will make you sweat to death..

they got them cotton mouths as mean as they can be.

some ole razor back's gonna chase you up a tree..

they got them bob cats gonna tear you limb from limb..

    wear boots above his knees...

    my kinda territory.

listen to the back beat on this, sure wish they had recorded it...

  • This great, Ive never heard this song and anything new with Ronnie Singing 30 years later is cool - Thanks

  • i hate how ronnie said "cut" at the end... someone was in the middle of a good solo, why stop it?

  • BEEN HEARIN skynyrd SINCE 1975!! AIN'T NEVER HEARD THIS ONE ! thank god I now have a new reason to live>>

  • where can i get this? Can someone help a brother out!!

  • @suthern74 ,.. i got this track on a outtakes double Skynyrd Cd on Ebay, with Skynyrd Garage recordings etc, allen showing steve some stuff, etc..

  • it would fit in "Nuthin' Fancy" because this is nuthin fancy. they should've tried harder on this peice.

  • High5150Roller- I honestly hope you're kidding. They were masters of their craft.

  • noooo you don't understand what i meant. By that, i meant they should've tried harder to make this one with better sound quality and put it on an album. i love this song either way, don't get me wrong

  • I dont think this was meant to ba a master take, sounds like they're rehearsing material for the album. Bands would have to submit demos to the record companies, and often they'd be recorded on home equipment. He could have cut the song off for any number of reasons that arent apparent on the audio. Maybe he spilled his beer!

  • Sounds like a Van Zant to me.

  • wtf man, where you high when you posted this cheech??

  • why else would he have stopped it you have no idea what the solo was supposed to sound like

  • The gold top les paul Gary is using actully belonged to Allen. His mother got it for him before she bought him his first firebird when he was seventeen.

  • That guitar in the picture looks like a Goldtop deluxe les paul. I wonder if thats what it is.

    Awesome recording though.

  • Look at the size of that kick drum....it looks like an old whiskey barrel!

  • "I see them city people".... reminds me of swamp music, or "I can see the concrete slowly creepin'

Lord take me and mine before that comes

'Cause I can see the concrete slowly creepin'

Lord take me and mine before that comes."

  • howd you get this?!

  • skynyrd gonna put this song up as a bonus track on their new album.

  • freakin awesome!!

  • This ROCKS! How can I get a copy?

  • This ROCKS! How can I get a copy?

  • This ROCKS! How can I get a copy?

  • i got a copy of it send me a blank cd & i'll make you a copy & send it back 2 ya. e-mail me throoh here & let me know

  • is it a more clear sound??

  • a little more clearer but not by much

  • awesome song to bad it was never finished and put on an album

  • Ronnie even hisses like a snake a few times

    Man was a genius

  • I always can relate to Ronnie!I almost put my hand in a cottonmouth's mouth last June! Watch out while picking blackberries in Jacksonville...or a Skynyrdville!!!

  • where did you get this at?

  • This is a really catchy riff, what a great song. Hard to believe it was never finished and released.

  • no.dey gots mo in da vaults.i bets.

  • yeah. they just released a whole album of the original street surviovrs. ten songs they re did.

  • They should have done this on an album.

  • very cool.......thanks for the post.

  • i got this song gimme ur email n ill give it 2 u

  • It's unreleased

  • Love it, awesome and thanks for the share!

  • put this on lime wire

  • the best...we miss ya ronnie

"jst a little warning folks travellin southbound cottonmouth country aint no place to fool round"

  • this song kicks ass

  • Recorded during the Nuthin' Fancy sessions. Here's the only known unreleased studio recording by the original Skynyrd. The song is unfinished, and you can hear an annoyed Ronnie Van Zant yell "Cut" at the end of the song. Great song that would have fit right in on Nuthin' Fancy.

  • TONY BEAZ. DOES IT AGAIN!!

  • what do you mean?

  • nice bit of skynyrd history, thanx
