if you go into add/remove, click on windows components it shows IE and you can de-select it (at least in XP pro).. im sure it prob. just deletes the shortcuts and leaves the files but technically you can "uninstall" IE, or at least get the illusion that it has been uninstalled.

i'm just curiouse if you can name off some sites that need IE? a few years ago i ran into a little bit of incompatibility with firefox but for the last half year or so i have only ran into 1 site that absolutely had to use IE to display properly (or in this case they wouldn't show the page at all unless you were using IE, bastards, it prob. would have been fine in firefox)..

There's more, just can't think of any at the moment. There are still some websites that do require IE. So unfortunate.

I haven't tried Google Chrome, just because I'm not sure what problems I'll run into when I go to these websites.

Google Chrome is awesome, but I stopped using it because everytime I tried to check my inbox through the Windows Live Messanger App it would send me to the log in screen. Igot tired of it. There seems to be compatability issues with MS apps. I blame Microsoft for that!!! Fucking assholes!!!

I installed it yesterday, haven't really noticed any improvement yet with IE8, but I guess it's early days.

Personally I prefer the layout and functionality of IE, but I'm generally run 'Chrome' at the minute for it's noticeable raw speed.  This add on will be superb for me once it is utilised by the programmers.

My computer has 128 MB of ram and a CPU that proccesses at 857 MHz. I have to run IE 6, when i upgraded to Firefox 3 it needed too much from my computer and ran amazingly slow. IE 6 even gets runtime errors when i browse Youtube. Could you suggest a solution to that?
