You should upgrade your graphics card to the 9800M GTX GT2, it is sooo much better than the 8700GT, ever since I upgraded mine, I noticed a huge difference in performance graphics wise.

hey im thinking bout ordering one but should i wait for the next one? or this one is powerfull enought im getting the same specs as you but im getting better graphic card 9800 but the thing i dont get is what is physx card its the opition after the graphic card well its just 75$ but its allways nice to knnow what is it oyea how long is the battery life? because ima be traveling a lot yeah i know its heavy im use to it i allready got a 17inch HP but let me know thanks

Very cool. The ironic thing is that I used to have an XPS Gen 1 with that same top cover on it... fine machine. Unfortunately I had to sell it, but it helped me pick up my own 1730(also ironically, in Sapphire Blue). Seeing the size comparison between the two definitely made my day.... I knew the Gen 1's power adapter was huge, but this 1730's is a monster. :) Much quieter machine, at the very least... the Gen 1's fans were freakin' hurricanes.

lol what a coincidence you ordered the same top cover on both machines. Yeah i agree with you the m1730 is much quieter than the Gen 1. My Gen 1 still works to this day no problems at all

its a kick ass laptop but its primary usage is for moderate gaming, Photoshop and watching High Def movies

well it isn't really loud at all when doing basic tasks such as surfing, Photoshop, typing up a document etc. Ill put it this way. its way more quiet than my old XPS Gen 1 with the Pentium 4 processor. that thing sounds like an Airbus A380 Taking off. the XPS M1730 is mostly quiet when doing basic tasks
