My neighbour built with ARXX, and i really enjoyed working alongside him, just so easy. His aircon and heating hardly ever kick in, it is such a comfy house, and, as someone said here, it will be around a lot longer than a stick house.
Poor old xXsnitchyXx - I think he's rather jealous, poor thing. And he wouldn't have the guts to put himself out for a year building a house I bet.
Great to see the house go up like this, and a really good advert for ICFs. Thanks for posting, and well done!
I have no clue as to your comment as to the insulation...This house would need to be almost 2 feet thick of wood and fiberglass insulation and and still not be close to the insulating value of this house....#2 This house is built 10 times stronger than a wood house. This house will be on this earth for 200 years and still have walls like the day they where built... As to the Owners......Nice house and a very good choice of building with ICF.
icfs are great is that clear glass? iam thinking 27 btus per square foot for south facing glass thats clear.your your lacking about 2 foot overhang there
@funkster22657 Yes its clear glass low-e argon. We have almost 3 feet of over hang on the south side. It works well at 45 degrees North Latitude. Virtually no solar gain in the summer. Due South orientation is more critical and slot windows on east and west sides are up under the overhang. No need for a/c here. Its very windy here too, big overhangs can produce big uplift on the roof. Like glass... all give and take.
The originality is in the energy efficiency. I love the big bank of solar collecting windows and the thermal mass of this home. Thanks for posting the video.
