talent with a capital T. Whether it's Jimmy Mills, Cody Kilby, Andy Leftwhich.... it's amazing how Ricky always seems to fine the finest talent for his band
Amazing, outstanding, wonderful! This joint recording with the Boston Pops is an eternal classic in itself. Uncle Bill Monroe must be proudly smiling from up above certain that he has the best heir anyone could ever want.
Mr. Skaggs is an asset and a just pride of all humankind. Bravo, standing up!
All the way from Newport News,VA... nice little jam !! Spent time as a little girl in Primghar and yes, I am a graduate of the University of Okoboji. Peace ya'll !!!!!!!!!
georgiaroadgeek wrote; "Another great "roadgeek tune" for traveling. Gotta add it and "Highway 40 Blues" to the "Roadgeek iPod". Again, freakin' sweet!!! :)" - you say you are 44 and from Georgia. You ought to know better than talk about great blue grass music and Ricky & The Thunder that way. You sound like a teenager that just discovered blue grass .. Bill Monroe is rolling over in his grave!!!!!
Ricky Skaggs is such a great Bluegrass legend. Him along with Kentucky Thunder sound absolutely fantastic. Even with the Boston Pops Orchestra this song is really great. Thanks for posting.
Leave it to a visionary like Ricky Skaggs who's fought like crazy his whole life to put bluegrass music on the map, to meld it with the Boston Pops - and still make you say: "Wow".
(And they may neither be God nor the Devil.. perhaps from another planet and a civiliztion light years ahead of our own.)
I heard Ricky say that he was concerned that after Bill Monroe died there would be no one to pick up the torch of bluegrass. Myself, I think the torch has been passed.
Phenomenal Job there Mr. Skaggs, and you too, quantumdave.
His players are so awesome and yet they are so young. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have talent like that in your 20's.
I'm amazed not that much by his playing as by his level of improvising. I think anyone in that orchestra could play his parts , but to improvise like that you really need different kind of practise and a lot of tallent
Best banjo break ever!!!

Hah, Good ol' Spencer, Iowa. Spencer born and raised. I don't like Bluegrass that much, but this song is pretty alright.
