  • i forgot how to play this lol

  • Absolutely perfect. Yawn.

  • not bad at all, but maybe a little too much rubato...

  • @xHaukansilmax Not bad? ...maybe you go in there and play it!! :P

  • @VforVespa I didn't say I could play it better than him, I meant that I've heard better performances of this :P

  • @VforVespa He's an armchair critic. There's always one in every crowd. They can't do it, but they have plenty to say about the experts' performances.

  • @xHaukansilmax Rubato is Chopin, and i don't think Yundi Li did too much ^^

  • he doesn't look fat at all according american standard and he looks normal to me. Ten years ago he looked thin.

  • @cdq68jgr: Success has prospered him... and added pounds to his weight? After all, he lives in Hongkong where the Chinese food is utterly delicious.

  • yundi li has gone fat aye

  • @llethaface11 i think he looks better than being thin

  • almost every major, succesfull pianist gets fatter each year, this is dangerous!!

  • Really unbelievably awesome. So clean.

  • I have listened and watched many performances from Yundi Li. What I really like the most is that, he never tries to impress the audiences by showing off his technical skills, rather he plays the music purely from his heart and soul. His music is just pure and magical.

  • @benniecheng78 Agreed! I said something really similar to this on another video of this performance. I love Yundi. :)

  • A little too fast for my taste, but very pretty...

  • @lllllllllllllll88 I felt he started fast then settled into a better tempo. but maybe the idea was to fall into the piece with a faster start and then drift away on it.

  • Life goal: to be able to play my favorite nocturne...this one.

  • @sonyonlygamer its not hard...

  • Absolutely phenomenal. It would be even better to hear him in person.

  • Bravo Yundi!!

  • I can't play this peice however I know good music when I hear it. Well done:)

  • Great performance.

  • love this video very much :)9999 clap hands

  • Doesn't bring out the motif melody enough for me.

  • I love the stage. It looks like it goes forever, boundless, limitless .. like the music.

  • ahh...this piece brings me so much nostalgia...as i havent played this nocturne (personally, one of my favorite) in a long time! yundi played it so melancholy, expressive, and soothing...yundi, you are a true talent!

  • it's soooo good i feel like crying everytime i watch his performance...

  • loves it

  • YUN DI , you are the best!

  • I see a slight double chin on Yundi. He must have put on some weight since his younger days.

  • Yundi Li #1 living piano player.

  • Chopin reincarnated. End of story.

  • Go to 1:00. the next 5 seconds are the most beautiful sound I have ever heard.

  • @williammatcham I couldn't agree more.

  • @williammatcham It's even more beautiful when I take 3 10mg vicodins, with a nice cold glass of water.

  • so many jerks coughing in the presence of such a great master

  • @angrybirdeatpiggies It's from all the 200.00 cigars they smoke before the show. Give it a little time before the vicodin kicks so they can stop lol

  • :S those ppl are boring like hell !

they didn't even scream or clap or any thing !

aaah yanni's crowd are so much better ;)

  • shut up you guys this is AMAZING!

  • I think there are better interpretations. It should have been played more gently, but of course that's my opinion :)

  • @yigit12 totally agree. this is a very sensual song; you can't just play it. you must feel it. although li does feel it, I think he doesn't quite feel it the way chopin intended it to be. especially during the octaves section, you gotta slow down to really feel it.

  • @yigit12 then i'd like to recommend Pollini's interpretation =)

  • howww on earth does he make his notes physically detached but still sound like legato?? :O

  • @crimsonrain327 Pedal.

  • @sttevenash its respect everyone gets applaused before u play

  • @punesauce I know... it was just a joke

  • @sttevenash Nope, that means you play for a public, if you don't get applauded from admiration, you get applauded from respect...

  • @sttevenash Its a performance custom in the world of fine arts to applaud the performer before and after the actually performance

  • @TheStRice @TheStRice I KNOW! , FOR THE LAST TIME IT'S A JOKE !!!!!!

  • @sttevenash Shoot, you know when you're good when there's applause before you even sit down.

  • @sttevenash lol all soloists, bad or not get applause before they play as they walk on. Its standard.

  • @timothias1217 I've already said this before so I guess i'll say it again.... It.... was....a...... JOKE!! u know what fuck it. i'm just gonna delete my other comment since people don't fuckin understand a joke....holy shit

  • why ppl is coffing instead of clapping like crazy, that was an EPIC interpretation!

  • Attention concertgoers:

If you have a cough, stay home! .. it's like trying to listen over a barking dog.

  • Outstanding interpretation.

  • his playing of the B-section is brilliant. The octaves are well-articulated, and one of the most important parts about the middle of this piece is mastering the dynamic changes, and he does an amazing job...the forte at 3:40 is attention-grabbing but controlled, the ppp at 4:13 is mystifying. Too bad the recording quality is a little harsh.

  • I know they were just being polite, but I cannot believe people did not stand and applaud at the end!

  • Man, I wish I had even one trillionth the soul, passion and talent that Yundi Li has...

  • Lots of sick folks were there. Coughing their ways along :(..

  • Xorunia has officially made me laugh

    (Why it's official, I don't know)

  • Beautifully played, though i must admit that Idil Beret's play is significantly superior. look her up if you like this video!

  • This is my favorite Chopin Nocturne. It is so relaxing and beautiful. Puts me in a very peaceful mind set. No sudden loud bursts just relaxation. If i was the president of Poland this would be the type of music i would listen to on a daily basis.

  • this is very beautiful... lots of emotion and passion...

although I think it sounds a bit 'choppy' in some places.. not that i can play better, and it's ok, i still love yundi. just my opinion :)

  • Sounds like everyone saved their cough to the end! what a respectful audience.

  • The soft, clean white hands of the rich.

In the beginning his hands looked well worn and used; now it's those of the rich.

    Dang he got rich!

  • I repeat my comment posted in french on the other video (my English is not very good...):

Finally recent news of Yundi Li on You Tube! Our very good pianist is always equal to itself, that is very very good in the music of Chopin with which he grabs particularly well soul sometimes tormented and sometimes cheerful of the compositor. Bravo Yundi ! And thanks to Kiesworld86 for this video.

  • nobody clapped? the guy didn't miss a note, i would have clapped.

  • Wow... it's amazing how gifted people like chopin are..

  • BRAVO!

  • I prefer this nocturne with Maria Joao

  • the lighting is pretty intense lol

  • to fast for me. not that good!! i play it with much more emotions!!!!

  • @somebluesman I agree, I do think it's a bit fast, but I think he puts a lot of feeling into it! Just because it's faster doesn't mean he takes away from the emotion.

  • @somebluesman post it...

  • @somebluesman mmmmmmm that is the about the speed of this song should be

  • I think he's the only musician who gives me shivers the whole performance. I love it.

  • Aw, he's gotten fat...but the music is still very nice

  • I love this nocturne!

  • But i must say that though he still has this fantastic natural touch, i don't like the way he plays this.

To slow for me and not dynamical enough.

  • Yundi Li has some magic himself. Bravo. Unpredictable artist

  • He is gotten fat.

Well, obviously he is enjoying things more (especially food all over the world....).

  • Did anyone else notice that at 1:44 he plays a A instead of a Bflat?

  • Uh...did anyone else notice that he did not end the arpeggiated B flat chord (at the very end of the piece) with a D in the tenor voice???? He left it on B flat and not the D which is what the sheet music calls for. He is supposed to play a B flat 1, B flat 2, D2, F2, B flat 3, D4 but he simply leaves the D4 out of it...

  • he's going to be a legend!

  • This is so beautiful and passionate...

I was afraid I listened to this nocturne too many times today... and then I heard this and it made me love it more!

  • I think I have played back this video for hundreds... OMG! his interpretation is SUPERB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • speechless

  • One gets drawn into Yundi's enchanted world of the nocturne. His facial expression shows total absorption and enjoyment of the beautiful notes coming from his piano!

Absolutely gorgeous. Somehow I feel his facial expressions show genuine feelings while Lang Lang's always seem so affected!!

  • @loyalistish and to all lang lang haters LOL.. Well, you really don't have to watch how Lang Lang plays the piano. It's much easier to appreciate his skills if you just listen to his music recordings and not watch his videos. ;-)

  • personally, i think no one plays Chopin like Yundi Li.

    HIS FINGERS ARE MAGICAL!!!! :D

  • @tickled41 with all due respect, I think someone has never heard of Alfred Cortot, Maurizio Pollini, or monsieur Arthur Rubenstein. Hell you should hear the liberties Sviatoslav Richter takes with this one as well.

  • @afinkeln What about Claudio Arrau , Georges Czifra, Nikita Magaloff ?

  • @tickled41 "The Pianist": You play Chopin like no other...Sorry, I just had to say that.

  • He looks like Langlang. :S

  • This is one of my favorite Nocturnes and Yundi has played it really well.

  • Wtf he got fatter, now he looks like Lang Lang with a wig

  • @asfaqqq LOL

  • @asfaqqq You´re right, he´s not so handsome as earlier:(

  • Pianists are geniuses!!!

  • This is phenomenal but if you enjoyed this listen to Maurizio Pollini play it, this doesn't hold a candle to Pollini

  • aaaaaaaaaaaa, I missed this event/....too baaaaaaaaaad

  • I'm so pleased that Lang Lang wasn't there. I bet that He will ruin everything.

    PS Awesome work again Mr.Li.

  • I'm so glad that Lang Lang wasn't playing there. I bet that he will ruin everything.

  • @The00ching00 I think Lang Lang is pretty good...

  • Yundi Li is a good man!!! I love him so much !!!~~~♥

  • love him so much!!!!!!!!!

  • wow this man is truly amazing

  • nice lookin place

  • @knnfuck2007 why? humanity is always evolving, theres always someone better at something that's born everyday, i mean, why would not someone be able to play better? that makes no sense, what would be the point then to do something if you don't try to be better than the best? if you don't try to be the best yourself? what you say is a very mediocre way to think.

  • @knnfuck2007 don't doubt that person.

that person..sacapalpavo can possibly be even better than yundi li with like TONS of practice..and like lessons. you don't kknow. you can't say so.

    so be ppostivie

  • @knnfuck2007 don't doubt that person.

  • @callenishss
