  • i always get a lump in my throat when i play this tune amazing

  • Looks like David Cameron now :)

  • THE BEARD HAS GONEE!!!! OH NOOOOOOOO! Amazing singer though.. He just no longer looks like JVJ.. Boo Hoooo!!!

  • @FriendsRuleAll this was in 2007 before he even got the beard.

  • For the record, it's not down a semitone.... He just isn't singing the song piano..

  • A M A Z I N G

  • Just so very moving. A master at work.

  • We too just discovered him when watching the 25th Anniversary program. Sad to say we've never seen this production but thrilled to say that we too will be seeing Mr. Boe in September in London's production of Les Mes at Queen's Theatre. Can't wait!

  • What more can I say other than fantastic. Can't wait to see you in London in July 2011 with Matt Lucas.

  • didnt realise his been going for this long..his hair looks better

  • ive only just discovered him when i saw him on royal vairety show

  • I like him better with the beard :)

  • Hmmmm. Of course its awesome, but he's such a high tenor; why is he singing it down a semitone?

  • @jc19940 Maybe because he's not singing this for a musical, but in remembrance of members of the armed forces who died for their country.

    Just a guess.

  • @kranxta yeah my bad..ignorance is bliss. I like a good musical as well...just never seen or listened to Les Miserables. The fact that Alfie Boe is a classically trained singer did somewhat throw me.

  • @luckysticks Oh you've got to. It hasn't been running for 25 years for no reason! That's where this song is from and it's dead set one of the most amazing musicals ever written. You would love this musical, even if you don't have a heart!

  • Alfie, u have such a wonderful gift. You had me crying in my seat singing this at the Les Mis 25th Anniversary and when I heard my fellow countryman Colm Wilkinson start this it was also a very emmotional time for me.

I could listen to you singing forever, thank you! xxx

  • so beautiful

  • the perfect voice for something as sensitive as this song it`s not full force but senssitive

  • Since I know he's an operatic tenor, I can't help but wonder if he is the next Jose Carreras... as they both have 'light' yet intense vocals. Their vibrato also sound similar, so I think this guy may still have the best yet to come, as Carreras I feel only got better later in life.

great performance, but the last note could have been a bit stronger, and less quiet, in my opinion. Generally nicely sung, but could have been stronger.

  • wait - is this critisism based on the video?

because this piece that alfie boe sings here is the nations way of thanking the young men who ave their lives to two worl wars - and the other men and women who continually put themselves in danger for the good and the peace of the world - and to say it is funny is offensive to say the least.

  • Possibly the best solo the Remembrance has seen for some time.

    Lovely.

  • Not into classical music. This however, was absolutly outstanding. I watched this on TV and you could see Alfie Boe was very emotional about the performance. He should be very proud!

  • @luckysticks classical music?

  • SOOOO much better than Kathrine Jenkins who also performed. Lovely voice and interprentation.
