  • I need wings like this but I need the wings to be my arms. I am trying to make an anivia

    cosplay

  • hes emo

  • where did you get the drying rack? I really want to make a pair for myself.

  • how much would it hurt, i mean cost?

  • good video, but btw, the "pliers" at 4:40 are actually called wire cutters, just for future reference

  • Queens of the stone age oh god, is distracting but who cares *_*

  • :D wings

    :D epic video

:D Queens Of The Stone Age

    :D Epic Respect :3

  • That background music is really distracting!! No offence..

  • I want to, but I don't have a rack to f up...:(

  • Ok FIRST: YOU are AMAZING best use of a hanging rack EVER, and your Reaally good at going step by step so we actually know whats going on! SECOND: I LUV ur Nails^~

  • @666BriarRose Thanks!

  • Could I commission you to make 2 sets of these? One white, and one black. I don't have any time on my hands, my college classes are starting, and so is my new job. Busy, busy....so could you let me know? Name a price, please and thank you~

  • @Janechickie It would depend on how large you want them to be and what shipping would cost. I would guess that each pair would cost about $200. The materials cost almost that much alone.

  • Muito util, so nfaltaou o mane pula deu penhasco pra testar as asas , ia se mo da ora

  • are you a boy or girl can tell sorry lol

  • Quick question, has anyone ever made the wings "moveable" meaning you could flap them or fold them yourself while wearing them? (ofcourse without using your hands duh)?

    Thanks

  • If I gave you the money.. Would you make them for me? (:

  • do you have any pictures or videos of them actually folded? I see they fold in theory before they become wings, but seeing as the join you're using to fold them ends up behind your head, how do you actually fold them while wearing them? Is the folding aspect for storage purposes?

  • how cute!, cute voice haha show us your scars! dont be shy

  • Is There Any Chance That You Can Make The Wings, Like, Instead Of Them Being Open, Can You Make Them Closed, Like So They're Behind Your Back Folded, Not Open, Like In Your Picture?

  • @Sonikku1243 Yes, you could make them so they are always completely folded. All you would need to do is make the frame folded.

  • hey i has a question how mush did it cast total

  • @mommamr like... $120 I think

  • your gothic

  • Where did you buy your feathers from?

  • @xbreathlessemogirlx feathers?? you have chicken lol

  • @NathanielDimalanta WTF? I was asking like what website she bought the feathers for her wings........

  • @xbreathlessemogirlx lol...try buy a 2 chicken lololol

  • wow. i love this. great song. great video. and i completely love your voice.

  • Liked just for your taste in music, but great video too.

  • I'm waiting for the actual video to load and was wondering about that first piece of wood that is above the part that goes on your back. It seems like you could cut it off to the joint and it would still work fine, but you said that it was needed. How exactly is it important? I can't figure it out.

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial. I've been searching the web for tutorials on wings for some time, and finally I found one that can apply to my desire to make steampunk wings.

  • tha's a drywall saw

  • @LucifurLindTan Yes. As long as it can fold and is strong enough to withstand the weight, it's fine.

  • @Gabbyandindigo It would work for see-through membranes, but you have to keep in mind that the frame would be visible. So maybe you'd want to paint the frame or do something else to it so that it didn't look out of place.

  • i love your voice he he and your smart

  • @hinatachain Thanks

  • I have a scar from hot glue too DX

  • @OtakuService I just started reading the Maximum Ride series! Nice choice for a costume. ;)

  • Hi I was wondering where did you get your big bag oif feathers from? I've tried looking around and I just can't seem to find places that stock enough of the larger quill style feathers for the wings

  • Awesome tutorial! I don't plan on making wings, but I saw this and I had to watch/comment :)

Just so you know (in case you do any more woodworking in the future), it is SO much easier to saw wood at an angle than with the saw parallel to the ground. I learned that the hard way, with a sword project I soon abandoned because my hands hurt so bad from using the woodworking tools... ^_^" I noticed the comment above about setting up a wood table, and figured I'd add this :D

  • Thank you! I wish I had known this at the time.

  • duct tape

  • exactly how old r u you look kinda young u have a roommate wow ur parents must think that ur really responsible

  • I'm a little older than I look. And this video is a year old.

  • @aihentaigirl lol she uses her high school graduation gown in part 3 so shes already graduated high school lol

  • mm i think its too expensive for me thinking in the first step i don't know anyone with one of those and i don`t know how to make ones and without that i can't do anything T-T

  • how much does it cost altogether?

  • I would say about $112-$150. It really depends. For me, the fabric, drying wrack, and a couple tools were things I had or got for free. But even factoring those in, the entire cost is the feathers. Feathers were about $112. Everything is cheap little extras.

  • wow soooo cool!!!!!!!!!1 i'm making my wings and they looking pretty awesome right now!

  • How heavy are they afterwards? I'm helping a friend with her Firey Card cosplay, and she needs some big wings, and isn't that strong

  • .....Thanks for that :D

    I'm her friend :)

and it's totally true...I hate heavy things...*no offense to anyone*

  • Heeeey, you're good! :D

  • hmm, I'm having a problem from the very first step.... T_T

Um, do you know where you get the drying racks?

  • I got mine from a friend. I would bet you can get one at a place like Target or Wal Mart

  • I wish I could pull off cosplaying, I'm just not cute/pretty/talented enough xp

  • Oh pfft. I'm not cute pretty or talented. I just use a lot of makeup and get by the best I can

  • I am not either, but it's fun and that's what matters. ^^

    ~Ai~Rox~

  • *_* I wish I was this talented. I've been cosplaying for 7 years and very seldom am creative enough to make a piece that impresses people. Grrr. Jealous! xD

  • Thank you, but these wings are very simple. If you've been cosplaying for so long I'm sure they'd be no problem for you

  • Awesome tut!!

I love the Get Up Kids thrown in there!!! ^_^

  • How old r u? U have black finger nails!!!!! Lucky, i go to a schoolthat bands that,... :(

  • I'm... older than I look.......

And that stinks! But it's ok. Once you get to college(?) or just out of that school you can rock the black nails.

  • college, and during the summer. :)

i know how you feel about that. My face looks alot like it did when i was little but i'm extremly tall, so people always question my age.

  • yayz duct tape!

  • Nice

  • Im making Utaus (wish me luck there HUGE)

  • lmfao im makeing Dark mousy's from DN Angel. of course im not useing this method at all but still lol

  • we are possible working on a ryuk cosplay so if we wanna go that extra mile and throw on some wings this comes in major help

  • lol i would. make them seem real

  • why have you got 6 thumbs down?? i dont think its fair, just because youre goth, people dismiss your comment as a bad one :(

  • I don't know! I even tried making them.. I enjoyed this tutorial.. I guess people can't stand me being superior

  • Well, I'm not sure calling yourself superior will help your case, but hopefully you don't care either way. xD You should make a video showing off your black wings.

  • I already have a video showing of my WHITE wings, if you cared to check.. I never made them in black, for I could not find white feathers... And it is inspired by this tutorial... Not completely like it...

  • Whoa, watch the attitude. "If I cared to check"? Sorry, but I don't go lurking on people's youtube pages unless they ask me to. I'm not a creeper like that. Black feathers are difficult to find, but not impossible. I had to find some for my friend's Sephiroth wing, they weren't too pricey...It's also easy to buy, say, 40 pounds of bleached turkey feathers and spray-dye(Best method to avoid damaging the feathers) them black...tiny bit time consuming, but not impossible. :l

  • oh my ..it looks dangerous..and whats with that sawing on the clothes?!

you see, thats not a really suitable tools ..but anyway your video sure helps people^^

  • sanku!!! this will be very useful for meh Cooro cosplay!

  • hmmm this looks very helpful, except im trying to make wings with more of an upside down V shape rather than an M shape....less ridges i suppose

  • i think the biggest question is...where the $^#& do you get the dryer rack from ? XD

  • lol. I got mine from a friend, but places like Target should sell them

  • dn angel time!

  • That's exactly why I'm watching this video, haha!

    I'm making Krad's ^^

  • I'm making Dark's :D

  • I am too! and Krad's =D

  • Awesome ^^

I have to make Dark's too....me and my friend are going together, and I'm making the wings and wigs, while she does most of the sewing...I'm a piss-poor sewer :P

  • I haven't been able to find a good wig. It's starting to get annoying D|<

  • Did you look on the internet? I found a good wig that could be used to style them, but I seem to have forgotten the name...(that's depressing)...When I find it I'll tell you though ^^

  • Sorry..that was me ^

My sis was on the comp and I didn't notice :P

  • I have been . . . But yeah, let me know if you find it again :D

Most of the ones I found for either too light, didn't look good enough, or both. And then I see pictures of cosplayers with good ones, and I just sit there and wonder XD

  • Nice vid! Thanks for the idea! fyi, i've used a saw since i was 8, when i got my first tool set. Never been cut. 1 reason is because there are certain things u don't do. u use he wrong tool, or a tool the wrong way u r GARENTEED to get hurt. Not balming u, just saying guys, before you do this, make sure you know what ur doing and if it's correct and NEVER use a substatute tool. Ok, LIMIT the substituting.

  • I don't have a dry rack.. what can I use then? I need it for school.. please help! what wood and what are the sizes?

  • great tutorial!! but theres a little too much beating around the bush and not getting to the point...

  • anything is dangerous in the wrong hands... meaning mine >:D

thanks for this. i really want to make my own wings cause the ones i bought do not fit DX

  • What is the first song?

  • wow this is a very handy video thank you I always wanted to know how to make the wings for my outfit :)

  • OMG I love Escaflowne!!!

  • nice job with the dangerous tools just tossin em to the side.. acccidently hits kitty mEWOW!!

    jkin nice job

  • Great tutorial, I'm planning on making wings for my next cosplay. But one question, how can I go about reshaping the wings so they look more bird-like?

  • It all depends on the frame. If you shape/cut/tape the frame more like a bird's wing, then when you add the feathers it will be more bird like. Mine were shaped more like generic angel wings.

  • This is awesome. Quick question would you suggest using your method to make wing for Belldandy from AH! My Goddess? or do you have any other suggestions. I'm new to props making so i'm trying to get a few ideas before i jump in don't wanna lose any fingers...lol.

  • It could work for her. It really depends on you and what you are cool with. For her, you'd have to change the shape of the wings more. The feather part would be the same. But you'd have to cut and tape the frame in a different way so it was the right shape.

  • great help.:) ill try it when im cosplaying Nero(Dirge of Cerberus) :)

  • is this dude a dude a dudette

  • wow you're pretty good at this, just like me.

  • Awesome. I'll definitely make use of this. However...

What if you need only one wing? Then you just make one wing, or...?

  • I believe you could use this same technique to make only one wig. The difference would be the harness. You would need to balance the weight somehow since it would only be on one side.

  • I'm terrible with physics, so I'd probably have to have someone else figure out the harness for me...

  • I am too. I used a bike wrack for mine lol. As long as you could weigh down the other side somehow I think it could work.

  • Then I guess it's time for...

    THE ACME ANVIL!!!!

  • Cool, good luck

  • FYI: that saw you're using is a keyhole saw made for cutting drywall. BTW sweet vid

  • Ps: If you can avoid sawing in your apartment or dorm room you can set up a cheap wood table outside and then saw it. Easier so you don't ruin the carpet, or your fingers..

  • lol the stuff used here can also be used in sum S&M fun, nice vid BTW

  • Huh. Good tutorial.

Somehow, I find it really funny when you're saying, 'These tools are really dangerous', and then just chucking them around XD

  • lol, didn't think of that. It is kinda ironic

  • sounds cool o_o

I should make such wings one day..

  • Go for it!

  • nice vids man im ur newest fan ^^

  • Thanks ^^

  • awesome can't wait to see teh rest

Now may I ask where did you get teh feathers from like which online store thing? thank you ^^

  • cool

    ill try this

  • why is this marked as spam

  • Not sure. I didn't mark it, but it doesn't look like spam to me so I unmarked it. Good luck with the wings ^^
