It actually happened in 87. The confession was in 88. I was there. Jessica Hahn was Bakker's scandal, not Jimmy's. Odd because i have met both men and played music with Jimmy. On the day of the confession he apologized to the students of JSBC for being a poor role model. On his way offstage i told him he had set a great example by coming forward and facing it. It was a zoo that day. 10,000 people on a building that seats 7,500, including Geraldo Rivera. It was a great life experience.

Come on! As we say here in Australia, can we all just have a Bex and a good lie down? I am a practising Catholic (despite living under the "terror" of the Modernist priests of the post Vatican II Church) and accept that I sin from time to time. I go to confession and ask for God's pardon when this occurs. Why should we condemn this man so harshly?

Try some good old-fashioned Catholic mercy and compassion. Pray for his conversion to the True Faith.

I can forgive the man too cause we all have sinned. But I can't listen or watch his programs because he hates the gay people and I think that just ain't right to be preaching the love of God and turn around and bash God's creation of people with same-sex attraction. If those quailifications dont line up with the word of God and are concocted by your own standard of righteousness, then they are nothing more than laws to keep the broken down. An anointing is not given on the basis of how good we are but how good Christ was and if we identify ourselves in Him we are declared righteous.The gift is on his life or else the signs and wonders would not follow.

Hmm. Is I Timothy 3 the word of God or has your anointing led you astray? The qualifications include: blameless (he's not), above reproach (he's not), one-woman man (he's definitely not), self-controlled (he's not), not a lover of money (need I say more?), and must have a good reputation with those outside the church (he doesn't).

Every believer has an anointing (I John 2:20-27) - assuming, of course, you believe those passages.
