@loonybin1125 The biggest difference is it is faster the white $80.00 adapter only supports A/B/G networks, which are slower than the N. The black one supports all of these networks types.Also the black adapter has 2 antennas and the white on only had 1 so the signal on the back one has a bit better range.

I have the wireless "N" adapter and I have to say, I am at an exceptional range and it always stays 3-4 bars. Id recommend you to get it if you have the money. Don't bother getting the old white adapter.

Hi guys I have a question. I have the original wireless adapter and I have a modem. I can connect to xbox live no problem and play my mw2 but then after about 20 mins of playing i get disconnected from xbox live. My xbox is about 43 feet away from my modem but the walls inbetween are concrete slabs. I was wondering if I bought this item would it fix my problem? Alternatively I'm also considering buying a router instead of a modem. Would that help? Please give me your opinion on the issue

The letters in routers stands for type of speed or connection strength. "N" is a more stable connection than "A, & B" routers. G is actually more stable than "N" But has a better signal strength to the devices than "G". Now the "G" routers have faster loading times than the "N" routers.

Depends how far the router that you're feeding off of is. This adapter doesn't have far range. I say the most range it has is about 25-30 feet tops. Any further and the connects drops. It also depends how many devices is connected to the router. Consider the router you're stealing has about 2-3 devices connect to it. Adding your Xbox if it does will definitely lag on your end. I have a high end "N draft" router about 15 feet away, and I only have 2-3 devices and sometimes my connection lag's.

Well that's only if I don't have more than my laptop and iPod connected to my router as well. It starts to lag when I have 3 - 4 devices on it (including the Xbox 360 it's self) otherwise if you have the Xbox and one other device it should be fine. Also it depends how far away your Xbox is from the router.

If you join xbox live after October 28th 2009, there was a software downloaded so that you could use this adapter without the installment of the disk, but if you got xbox live before then. then you have to download the disk :)

Okay, I'm not FULLY sure if this is true but having your laptop or any wifi device near your Xbox shouldn't be why it's connecting. Don't take my word for it. But that has nothing to do with it. It sounds like your connection is very weak. Try and describe more so I can figure out this problem for you. What type of Wireless Router/Modem do you have?

But the issue here sounds like a singal problem...How far away is your router form your Xbox? Also how many wireless devices are connected to your router? The more deviced connected to the router the lower the singal is.

Yeah pretty much everyone that got this adapter is having this issue. There could be many reasons why. You can update the software on the xbox, or the adapter from the xbox, or you might not even have a wireless router or your router can't support N.
