Septa- It obviously keeps their trains in great order. They recently reconstructed the elevated line , all the stations are new, and wheel chair accesible. Mta has the ugly new trains and had the ugly redbirds
I think everything is cleaner and nicer in Philly than NYC... SEPTA's vehicles are more attractive looking than MTA... and the fare doesn't change as often... I swear every time I go to NYC the fare is different lol
i've been on both and i live in philly.... i like both equally but each system has its up's/downs just like any other....both have rich history and cool trains which is always a plus for me..cool vid
im from nyc and i was in philly recently not too long ago and ta keep it real septa is better and got an egde especially when you on them buses on septa since they take cash and mta bus doesnt take cash which sucks cuz when u aint change my nigga on that mta bus a nigga lookin stupid askin for quarters but yeah i gotta go wit septa
as an urban development major in college MTA is the most widely used and needed
as a railfan MTA
SEPTA rolling stock is ugly, deteriorating (even though it may smell good), and in a city like Philly I don't really know on how it compares in residential usage in percentage by comparison with New York.
MTA has septa beat by a long shot. MTA commuter equipment is top of the line. SEPTA's equipment is falling apart and there new Silverliner V wil get people killed by allowing them to sit up front. You notice MTA change that in their new rail cars
20+ years ago, MTA, today SEPTA. Broad street and msrket Street cars run much faster than anything in NEw York, thanks to the 1995 accident on the Willy B.
mta.... the only thing septa wins is its variety... that its it... everything else it looses... and that 15th street city hall station on the orange line is a disgrace... so ugly....
im from philly, went 2 nyc in may...... nycmta is very big BUT THE TRAINS MOOOVE TOOO SLOOOW!!!!! i don't understand, how are they trying (mta) 2 run a express train going 25mph??? heellooo, a subway express is at leasy supposed 2 go about 45-60 mph.... take a ride on septa's broad street line's express (55 mph). the el (market frankford line) moves fast too (45 mph); new york subway move like snail, i sticking wit my town philly, philly is the best!!!
Answer: SEPTA. Cause of answer: More reliable. Little Or No Accidents. Better Buses. Less Demanding For transfer to bus from train . Iconic Broad Street Line Cars By Kawasaki. First To Have Kawasaki Trolleys. Newest Regional Rail Cars (commuter train cars)
To all you mta people out there no disrespect but ya'll bus company is just plain shitty. I've rode on one bus in new york and the bus didn't even get down the street before it broke down. Of course im going to pick septa because they always trying to plz their customers with brand new state of the art vehicles. when was the last time mta upgraded anything? NEVER
@sonicboy678 well the septa RTS busline was a bit of a cop-off from mta (worn down Gas guzzling piece of shit) but the thing about it is that the bus line isn't still around on the streets of philly like it is in new york.
Not really a fair comparison, Philly trains r faster because of greater distance betw. stations. NYCT MUCH larger, more variety of cars. SEPTA vs. MBTA(Boston) a better match. I'll choose NYCT because of the variety
Could someone please explain about the MF(Blue Line) in Philly. Why for 2 generations do the cars still have the air handling equip. above the roof line of the car. and why do they still use the funny gauge track?????????
yea mts all the way man i never rode the septa but still the mta rules man come on just look at the septa trains they look weird not to be rude or anything but still compare that to the mta ones stil i choose the mta
I don't know if one could compare MTA and SEPTA. Personally, i'd have to go with MTA, only because MTA is much larger. a better comparion imo, would be SEPTA and Boston( can't remember the name of their transit agency)
I would say Septa (Sorry for the betrayal New York City) I like how their trains bodies are built I never been to philly nor have I been on the Septa Subway but I like how they are made I bet they take better care of their trains Better than NYCTA
I am partial to my hometown, so SEPTA all the way. But I have such a healthy respect for the NYC system and how extensive it is. Would love to be able to ride the entire system and conquer it although it would take some time. Nothing that I saw on the video compares to the old Broad Street Line cars except for that one shot of the three car train with the redbird at the end. Those trains would roll into Erie Av station and I loved to see all the different cars that made up the train.
I would have to choose MTA. MTA is the forth busiest subway network in the world, and also has new tech trains such as theose R142s, R179s and R160s. The earlier fleet of MTA trins were pretty clean as well, so I am going with MTA.
MTA. The older trains looked classier with the MTA, and the newer trains look more modern and slicker with the MTA. I loved the MTA "Redbirds"; wish they would bring those back. The older R1s and R4s of the MTA were class-acts. However, the newer SEPTA trains have a cool look too with the larger windows. Still, my vote is for the MTA. Best and most efficient in the country anyway.
I like the cars in both cities but SEPTA is the most screwd up system I have ever seen. Who comes up with an idea of putting a subay station every 2-3 blocks and then 15?
That sounds like Metro in DC. It is in every 2-3 blocks in the city but the more you get away from downtown, the further the stations are from each other.
Septa totally PWNS mta I since were smaller than NYC we can more on the new stuff without having to by so many cars(unlike mta) Though most septa driver are douchebags PAY YOUR FARE! D@MN IT!
fuck septa i like nycta better i never been to septa philly and also PJAMAZ why did you put only OLD pictures of mta?? you shouldve put the new trains like the r68a and r40 slant and like the new ones then people would def vote for mta septa trains are all short and shit
Septa is putting all new rolling stock on the subway system, yet, you cannot compare Philadelphia with New Yorks system, it is only a third the size. Philly has two primary subway lines, the Broad street subway, and the Market-Frankford subway elevated, then there are the secondary one's like the Patco to (New Jersey) and the Broad-ridge spur (an offshoot of the Broad street line). Then there are the Subway surface trolleys that serve University city and parts of West and southwest Philly.
Just a quick correction.Patco is not affiliated with Septa.I used to work for Septa and could catch a free ride on Amtrak all the way to Florida(no lie)but could not get a free ride on the Patco system across the river.
I gotta say septa!!! lol but u should do a video wit Septa's M4 vs Mta's R142 now that would be great lol, i wonder which one is better, all i know the m4 is better looking

NYC- MTA has the size and distance. SEPTA gets the job done
and seems to get all great equipment. Troleys, Subways & Els,
Regional and Interstate rail plus the Corridor = a great rail City.

rodeliot 1 year ago
@rodeliot = I think they may have wanted to preserve
the look of the old Almond Joy cars which served since
the early 60's - they were rather distinctive with the roof
process deal? The AJ's didn't have A/C and those fans
just didn't do it, but they were fine otherwise. [You wouldn't
want to change the gauge of all that rail and the bogies?
Way too much cash - they just re-did the whole line!]
PLACEPEARL 1 year ago
@rodeliot Not to mention that there's far fewer services in Philly's Cheesesteak - I mean subway system.
