ORCHESTRE KIAM ETAIT LE PLUT FORT , ecoutez l' acompagnateur a la guitar Mi composé...LES VOCALS , Le basiste , Le lead guitar ...MERCI !!!nako lekisa noel na bonana ya kitoko...
I think that was the best melodie sound of Congolese music of that time. Those young men came from nowhere everybody loved them, and I was listening to those songs day by day thanks a lot for who ever posted them songs God bless you!
classic meloddies of our time but am not sure the new generation will keep this ahead their taste is far from this but let it be kept as history of our time always !!!
The style in which the instruments ring out blows one away... another show case from Kiamangwana Mateta with Muzola Ngunga calling the shots. The guys had some''' to offer. Listen to the intertwining vocals from 2:45 and the sudden change of the beat at 4:00. The lead guitarist drives you crazy as he picks the wailing strings. You can imagine the footwork going on stage, these guys entertained with a passion. And the BASS? It was gigantic. Vihiga ingo kabisa.
@mahanga711 When Iwas asession musician in Nairobi back then we used to describe the changes as going through the gears,. If we got to fith gear we knew we had a hit. Same when we played live.
@dubplatestyle Next Generation? I think we are the only generation that cherish this type of music, our kids have changed my friend, they only listen to Crap Music(rap) and other indecent music, I am collecting these music for myself and some of my friends that we dance and have memories of some events of that era, born in Tanzania Never understood a word in Lingala but loved these songs and always will, cheers!!
Benanzo, Robert Kinyanjui,(where in kenya are you) remember those days in 1979 in "O" levels when we could not listen or dance to anything else apart from Kiam, vevey, kamale, lipua lipua, le noir, mazembe , mangelepa? God knows i really miss those days.
Reminds me of my first girlfriend Lunyolo David and my old friends at Kivaywa sec in 1977-1980. Tribute to Mwanzo, okia, Joshua Mbale and the rest. Wa joyce obote. Good music keep up posting. Where do i find this music here in London?.
Boy -oh - Boy. Takes me back to those days I was in Highway Sec. The song was kiboko and the SouthB shopping center - then very clean and really in the Suburb was a contest of lingala music, this song always stood out
I remember going to shags with this disc (45 RPM). There was a dance somewhere and i took the record with me. At one point i made a special request. Everyone sat down. They couldn't dance to the beat. The floor was mine. I had fun. Kiam forever! This band was sponsored by Kiamangwana of Veve hence the shortened form of KIAM.
Wakesh kidogo umepatia lakini this is the truth per Adios Alemba (guy who says africa iko maneno, Afrika iko tapele in this song,):
Lead guitar: Lele N'sundi, Djuke, and Sonora, Rythms: Dezai and Morema; Drums, Vechiko; and Ninja Kady finishes in Bass. Singers: Leader of the band: Muzola Ngunga, Adios Alemba, Bamueniko Adoli, Solola Sol Sol, lead singer/vocal Bakoloketa (bass voice), and Laza.
..Remember Yoka Lokole is NOT a person, rather a band started by Papa Wemba, Bozi Boziana, Evoloko, and Mavuela Somo after they drifted away from zaiko in 1974.
matter of fact, M'fui Muane...was a session artist with Kiam who later went to join Zaiko (per session too). While with Kiam he composed Mbale (my favorite hit from Kiam).
I think Orch. KIAM is the best Music group ever. Each bit of this and their other recordings is pure magic. I dont know where this guys got their motivation. Lingala music is good period but listening to even todays Lingala music it does not touch this!
ah orch kiam un annee 1974...la belle epouqe.chante; patrick golo adios a lemba, mavula somo, et autre chanter........gillite do'r international toujous...
looking at todays electronic music and keyboards, I am left to wonder how those guys managed to produce so quality music with their bare hands and those solo, rythm guitars :)))
Och. kiam blows the air out my chest! Talk of quality music and cry my beloved country for the current brand of music devoid of taste and harmony. Thanks big for droppin dis 1. listening to dis ngoma leaves me musically hungry.

Do you have any other Kiam music for me. I would like to listen to it. In 1975 this song was hit in my village Foya Tengia,in Lofa County, Republic of Liberia. Please post any of his song that you have.
Thank ;you very much for the correction. I thought it was from Lipua Lipua. I Love this piece from Kiam. By the way do you have any song from Lipua Lipua that is not posted on You Tube? If you do please post to my Email. Waiting to heard from you.
Anyways just a tip I found out just the other day. Joined utube and I just select my playlist of such great songs and watch them one after another. Man its such just perfect indulgence esp. this yucky new england wweather
Thanks for the wonderful memories. I'm a Kenyan Bassplayer now residing in the US and grew up on this music...I learnt how to play these basslines to these songs many years ago and now play them for my friends to their utter amazement!
Lenana Classof69! Guitarist and Engineer ( Hands too stiff for playing now sadly!) This song and many others have never ever left my mind since first I heard them. Sheer talent...
Our record player was "mono' and not "stereo", so? We improvised - take our grandmother's pot, pour out the water and put the speaker next to the pot to provide the "woofer" effect!!! It ruined the speaker in the end though!!! Sorry folks for interrupting keep dancing - DJ Bwanakeino, i will buy you some "CX3"!!!!!!!!!!!!1
bwana keino wewe ni poa kabisa endelea hivyo hivyo tukikutana pia utakunywa ama kula unachotaka.nakumbuka kariobangi myaka ya 70,kweli huu ni utamu mtupu.kamili
Back in those days the import duty of tape and video tape was very high so we recorded over the same reels many times. Sadly many masters were lost though there might be pressing plant copies and also Govt TV videos hanging around in storerooms somewhere.
Er , the last two comments were replies to other comments for this track. I hope they make sense as they don't seem to match the original comments....
Anyway just to reiterate: This song features what must be the ultimate example of african rhythm (2nd Guitar) playing ever, although there are many other honourable mentions!
Wewe Bw. Keino...please post us 'Nsayi' of Lipua Lipua. I will buy you all the Safaris/Ndovu/Pilsner you wish to drink, please post us Nsayi or any FukaFuka's songs!
Thumbs up Keino, these are the ages of juke box, with a shilling you get entertained.
