  • whats a good way to paint a gundam model with gundam markers? i want to start painting my kits but dont know how please help its much appreciated thanks!

  • Why are not the order in stock information correct on hlj.com website?

  • i copped the MG Sandrock and im loving it :D

  • I could not find the instructions on hobby Japan TV. I wanted to find the solution and win that poster but dame I really want that poster. I am just as big if not a bigger Macross fan as you Ryan, as I grew up watching Macross.

  • The only reason Ryan's audio seems louder than Syd's is probably, because Syd's mic is malfunctioning. When you only have one audio track you end up having to raise all of the audio to make the lowest part somewhat audible. If they were able to record each audio track separately the issue would be nonexistent. Audio editing is tricky, and especially so with video. Good luck on the SDF-1 Ryan!

  • By the look of the guide, my guess is still in that part.

I don't find anything else that could give that problem.

But again, that's only my guess.

  • BTW, Ryan: If HLJ will send me a Yamato Macross kit, I will build it and provide you with a solution to the problem. :)

  • @scopeeyevideo haha, it did cross my mind

  • Syd you called Ryan's SDF1 the Yamato i just thought i would point that out.

love gunpla tv keep up the good work

  • sorry but this is the most disappointed episode i ever see.

    the problem is :

    Syd's voice.

the cameraman didn't zoom in when he needs to.

example: when syd show the finger of the sandrock, the cameraman should zoom in

  • Can we get this added to the itunes feed so it can be watched in itunes please? (last one in the feed is the Boss Builds pt 6)

    Thanks!!

  • go canucks go!!!!!!!!!

  • Not to nitpick but.... Could you both be wearing a microphone during these? It was very hard to hear Syd while Ryan was booming.

  • @Foresutu Yes we are aware of that issue we have new microphones now.

  • I want to go to gunpla expo too :(

  • yea!!! Go Vancouver Canucks!!!

  • You should sell those posters! I know i really really want one

  • I have some theories, but I could be wrong. In section 9, he might of put P-20 (the round part with teeth on one side) that goes onto P-11 upsidedown. Or, in section 14, you put the entire section 12 assembly backwards. Or, once again in section 14, you forgot to put in P-12. Or, in section 11, you forgot to put in P12-5 onto P12-1.

  • I believe something went wrong at either steps #9 or #13, after looking at the instruction you posted something must have happened with either or both of the spring loaded pieces at those two points. Unfortunately that is my best guess without knowing or seeing the completed pieces personally >.<

  • To help Ryan, I believe you put the P20 piece backwards.

  • @JulioGarou There's several "P20" parts apparently. Do you mean the little one shown in step 12?

  • @scopeeyevideo No, the ones in step 9 and/or step 13. The little dented disk.

This is the "Gear" that apply the friction to this junction.

  • @JulioGarou But the problem was with the shoulder (lateral extension) joint. Step 9 is the elbow joint, and step 13 is the rotary shoulder joint (forward/backward extension). Basically, the problem joint is between parts P11(1&3) and P11(5&6). Presumably the problem is with P20(4) from step 12, but I don't know enough about the kit to make a good guess at what's gone wrong.

  • Where's Syd's mic in this video? How come his audio is much quieter than Ryan's?

  • Cant wait till my Sandrock comes in the post. Then its to just wait for Heavyarms and I'll have all the EW kits. Hears hoping an MG Altron after and A MG Tallgeese of any kind.

  • Check your instructions for small parts or screws. If small part, see if you still have it. If it's a screw, check to see how many came with the kit and how many are left. Then subtract the number of screws remaining from the number of screws to start out. Take the difference and check the instructions for how many you've used. Also use that for springs and other things of that sort.

  • were they playing pomp and circumstance in the background at the hobby show?

  • Y u no zoom?

  • new world thousand sunny! pls

  • TRAINS RULE!!!!

  • yayyyyyyyyyy, new episode :)

  • Check the Macross World forums under thread: 34450

Try this thread on the Macross World forums. The author details problems he faced when disassembling his SDF-1 for painting, and talks in depth about certain issues.

He mentions a lot of hidden screws in the knees, so perhaps if you check the photos he posted, you can see where you went wrong?

  • @Grarrgle Unfortunately I don't think there's anything in that thread that deals with the shoulder assembly. I think there was just a brief mention of disassembling the shoulders in order to swap the guns around...

But I can't stress enough the value of going to MWF for these kinds of questions. It's like, if you want to know how to build a Star Trek kit, you go to Starship Modeler. If you want to know about a Yamato Macross, you ask on MWF. You got to ask the people who know the answer. :)

  • @scopeeyevideo Exactly this.

MWF members are incredibly knowledgeable about their stuff. Well, most are anyway. I mainly just look at the pretty pictures. They're very impressive folks; one could say frightening, depending on one's perspective, haha.

Shame the thread didn't have any help, but what with all the comments now, there's bound to be an answer in there somewhere (That is, assuming any of them know the kit beyond the posted (?) instructions (Which weren't up when I posted, at least)).

  • PAINT! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

  • damn that EW Sandrock looks bad-ass! Finally all the Gundam Wing EW kits are complete.

  • Ryan: if you want to know what's gone wrong with that Macross assembly, probably your best bet is to ask on the Macrossworld forums. It's chock full of people who collect the Yamato Macross line and know all about the things that can go wrong with them.

It's possible a Gunpla TV viewer will be able to provide you with the answer, but I think what you need here is someone who has personally dealt with the kit (or the toy version). You could easily find -several- such people on MWF.

  • and syd doesnt have a mic

  • Do you all have Hobbybase hands? They have some that are fully articulate. I would love to see how those look on the MG Wing kits!

  • @Waitingtoolong I have a set of the Hobby Base hands. They're a lot of fun, and I think they make a nice little upgrade to my RG Zaku. But I wouldn't count on them to hold the weight of the large weapons that come with MG Wing kits. It could work, maybe, but it would be all about getting the fingers into -exactly- the right pose and hoping the combined support of all the fingers is enough to keep the weapon from drooping. It would be tough, and if you bumped it, you'd have to start over...

  • @scopeeyevideo That would be difficult to do by the sounds of it. If these hands were to scale, however, the results could be worth it when it comes to displaying these models. Based on another person's reply, they are too large for MG wing kits. Thanks for the reply!

  • @Waitingtoolong Yeah, I guess there's that, too. I know Wing MS are smaller than regular MS but I don't have any Wing MG kits to test the manipulators with...

The thing about poseable hands is, they're fun and they give you all kinds of possibilities - but that also means more work, getting each finger into a good pose and making sure it stays there. Poseable hands look rubbish if you don't take the time to pose 'em - fingers twisted every which way, etc...

  • @Waitingtoolong

They are a little too large for the new MG 1/100 wing kits. I have several sets and they look too large when comparing them directly with the wing hands ( i haven't had the chance to build any of my MG wing kits so im not sure what they will look like on them). check out the review by vegeta8259 he puts them on wing ew (they look far too big imho).

  • @APHEXHEAD Ah, thatis a bummer. I like the security of the MG Wing hands on my Deathscythe, but i do miss the 3-1-thumb set up with a peg in the palm. For display purposes, the new hobbybase hands would have looked great on any of these if only they had some to 16 meter MS scale. Thanks for the reply!

  • The black box microchip things come in the AG (Advanced Grade) kits. The HG kits get awesome posability, the AG get the chips to play the game

  • sad to say, but you're gonna have to disassemble the part, because something may not be alligned properly. Maybe even a screw didn't go evenly in

  • Nice video... but the sound... what did you do on this one? :)

  • @bogusbyte Fixed in next episode.

  • Another great video guys! Thanks so much for putting these together and for sharing all the new info! Always looking forward to the next episode!!

  • Hope you got a few of those 1/48 chrome RX78's. They saw the images, they are beautiful.

  • @hobbylink Only the AG Gundam AGE have the Gage-inLink (little black box)

  • Lol he looks so excited with that Sandrock! Gunpla TV forever

  • sound quality of this video was not ........ good.... no offence....

just a feedback so that you guys don't do it next time.

  • @hobbylink The MG Sandrock EW is definitely the version of Sandrock to get. =) Hey Syd! You need to get Ryan more knowledgeable in the GunPla universe. =)

  • Hi Syd, Ryan, wonderful episode. I hope Ryan would overcome his hurdle with the ratcheting joint. I'm looking forward for the completion of the Macross kit. Syd I have a question: can Tamiya Color TS-80 Flat Clear spray safe to apply to a Gundam MG kit with dry transfer / water slide decals? There's a warning at the spray can's cap saying "Do not spray on decals and stickers." Is it true? Thanks.

Keep up the awesome work guys!

  • @eluoj

i dont know why it says that on the can, TS-80 is one of the best things to put on a kit to seal on the decals with a matte finish. go for it.

  • @hobbylink I can't wait for the MG & SD releases of the AGE-1 Normal, Titus, and Sparrow. Still waiting & hoping we get a few more MG kits from the 00 series. =)

  • 2 guys 1 kit

  • I think what neonwave was talking about was green cards. not sure about Canada, but I'm an American Citizen living in the Philippines, and a family friend of ours has a US green card. They go to the USA every six months to keep that card.

  • @panpanmatt I heard the Canadian citizenship thing from a school mate. I wanted to make sure so I asked Syd since he's a Canadian living outside the country. Also, I don't think we have green cards here in Canada.

  • Any thoughts on the upcoming 1/100 Master Grade Duel Gundam Assault Shroud?

  • Don't worry guys, that guy who made the first message ( from what I heard, his name was somefurfag?) is just jealous. I guess he has nothing better to do. Keep on doing what you guys do! you guys are both helpful and entertaining!

  • yea sids mic is suddenly off?

  • wow.i never see someone hugs a gundam boxes..like that

  • maybe you miss a piece,or you put it on the wrong side,,try to double check again ryan

  • miss you dudes

  • lool "my vote has been cast :) "

  • the convention was awesome, i cant wait to go again next year

  • For the problem with the kit i think it might be from where you assembled it and screwed the screw in while it wasn't in the right position

  • lvl 25 what up
