@DJSpikesan The 2 meter band is the VHF frequency pool. It's used for local ham communications. If you get your technician license you will most likely do most of your talking on 2 meter or 70cm (UHF) bands.
@DJSpikesan You'll need to find a HAM radio club in your area that will give you the exam for $10. You'll be asked 30 questions about ohms law, radio theory, FCC rules and regulations. Since you run CB you probably already know enough about radio theory and ohms law from experience to pass but you can go to the ARRL site and do the crash courses or practice tests. ARRL is really the place to start because they tell you everything you'll need to have before the test.
Hey I'm new to HAM radio and I going to get the license next month. What You think of IC-2200H as a starting station with DIAMOND NR770HB antenna for a mobile station?
@Latka303 My mobil station is the icom 2200h and i use a diamond 22L it gives me a huge 6.2 db gain this is a very large its almost 97 inches tall i can hit repeaters 60 miles away with it. i would suggest using a heavy duty mount with that antenna.
hello, i have a icom f12115r truck radio, i bought it from a guy who has it programed with logging and truckers channels from his town. i want to know how to tune in to a posted radio frequency, can you help me
I was wondering. I just run CB so what exactly is 2m radio used for?

@Latka303 The IC-2200H is a perfect starter radio, has good sound quality, but not sure about the diamond antenna, I never had one.
Good luck!

Hey, I'm going to be buying one of these tomorrow at HRO (I'm in Calif), used to live in W. Mass - sounds like you are in the same area.
Anyway, how hot does the radio get on low/mid power?

Nice demo! Do you have any problem getting into the local cable television systems of your neighbors?

Hi, I also have an IC-2200H. I have the UT-118 Digital board fitted as we have a couple of 2m D-Star repeaters locally (GB7OK & GB7FK).
Nice video, I must get a 2m beam! :-)
