Great video! I wish I had watched this before I made my first 20 cylinders! Oh well, I'll go throw some more cylinders tonight and try the 6 step method and see how they turn out. Thanks for posting.
Auu, you've made the process make sense. As a beginner it all seemed so magical. Now I understand what the process really entails. I think this will take a lot of the frustration out of the learning and make it easier to feel more comfortable on the wheel and speed up the learning process. Thanks SO much.
May I ask how much clay do you think you have there? I swear it grew. It appears to be only 1000 grams or so but then looks as if you have twice that. Very nice in any case.
Your wheel is turning really fast, it seems. I've always heard and read that the biggest mistake beginners make is to run the wheel to fast when they are pulling - especially on electric wheels.
This is amazing! Thank you for doing this series - and thanks for the detailed explanations of every step with the cutaways. I can't wait to get started following your six steps. I know I'll have a much easier journey to the "coveted number six" now.
Thanks for posting these. I've been out of pottery for a while and trying to get back into it without a teacher, but struggling to regain my skills. I think you've helped me pinpoint my problem (moving too fast, what else?). Really helpful and well explained.

Hi,
I use 2 pounds (less than 1000 grams) of clay for my six steps demo. Thanks for looking!
