While this being said everytime you start up the PS3 it gives you the option of what OS to start up. I usually start up Window's OS. It allows me to do whatever I want, Make a map for Gmod? done. Make a model for Halo? EVEN THOUGH IT'S EXCLUSIVE TO PC AND XBOX? Done.

Under normal circumstances you'd be able to click "YouTube XL" link to switch back to XL, however, because search text box is messed up in PS3 browser (invisibly covers link), you can't click it...
So, to get back to XL, if you're on page of standard site, press Start button, to show Address dialog, and delete everything after youtube dot com /, by holding down Square button. Finally, add xl after forward slash '/' and press Start button (should read ...youtube dot com / xl - without spaces).

It's 2010 and Sony hasn't done anything to improve their web browser since it's launch. In fact I would have to say that I.E. ver2 is a better browser.
If they want to sell people on PSN+ why not throw in a nice browser? Hell, I would pay $50 for that alone.
Well, seeing how there are only 2 other consoles in the history of game consoles that even have real web browsers there isn't a lot to compare. The PS3 is currently the most powerful console on the market and it has a web browser on par with the Sega Dreamcast from 1999.
Don't be a Sony fanboy. I love my PS3 and play it every night, but you have the right to dislike certain parts of your game system. Speak out.... Maybe Sony will improve it.

@xIBoLTx It's different in that it's a better web experience and is totally unrestricted. A 1:1 web browsing experience. Nothing dumbed down and Flash is fully supported.
It can be run on set top boxes, built into TV's, and if Sony would work a deal with them it would run on the PS3. I just hope Sony makes a deal with them before Microsoft.

You can type whatever you want in the address bar but since the ps3 currently only uses flash 9 it wont be high quality or high def looks more pixelated.
yeah ive seen youtube playing on the Wii and its not that good quality like on a PC but it does work. I wish the PSP could play youtube but I heard that sony has limited the memory usage in the browser to prevent homebrew code from running which sucks.
I USE to be able to check my youtbe messages and comments on my PS3 well over a year ago hell maybe 2 years ago but after all the updates that long ago that ability to check them disapeared into a malfunction and I can't check them through my regular E-mail on the PS3 because the PS3 can't handle or "support" the E-Mail address website [my internet provider] and this really pisses me off. At least with X Box you could do all that PLUS upload your camcorder videos!!

I HATE this new feature it doesn't do as much as when I'm signed in the regular youtube. Plus sometimes when I go to sign into my youtube account it will automatically go into youtube "TV" mode and I can't stop it! PLus the mode is slow to respond!!! Oh and WHY oh damn why can't I check my youtube messages and comments on even REGULAR youtube anymore?! When I click on them it tries then goes blank then I have to refresh to get youtube back with NO message!
I've just been setting up a new PS3 and 42in plasma TV for a neighbour this morning. The YouTube viewing this was giving was really quite poor. Navigating videos was really sluggish, videos including my own looked quite jerky and pixellated. Certainly nothing like the speed and performance we're seeing in this video.
I first thought it might have been the speed of their internet, but my laptop on the same 10MB cable-internet with WiFi was working with YouTube very well.

Don't use the PS3's wireless connection if it seems too slow. When connected via ethernet cable it should be just as fast as the fastest computer money can buy.

It's 2010 and Sony hasn't done anything to improve their web browser since it's launch. In fact I would have to say that I.E. ver2 is a better browser.
If they want to sell people on PSN+ why not throw in a nice browser? Hell, I would pay $50 for that alone.

Well, seeing how there are only 2 other consoles in the history of game consoles that even have real web browsers there isn't a lot to compare. The PS3 is currently the most powerful console on the market and it has a web browser on par with the Sega Dreamcast from 1999.
Don't be a Sony fanboy. I love my PS3 and play it every night, but you have the right to dislike certain parts of your game system. Speak out.... Maybe Sony will improve it.

@xIBoLTx It's different in that it's a better web experience and is totally unrestricted. A 1:1 web browsing experience. Nothing dumbed down and Flash is fully supported.
It can be run on set top boxes, built into TV's, and if Sony would work a deal with them it would run on the PS3. I just hope Sony makes a deal with them before Microsoft.

You can type whatever you want in the address bar but since the ps3 currently only uses flash 9 it wont be high quality or high def looks more pixelated.

yeah ive seen youtube playing on the Wii and its not that good quality like on a PC but it does work. I wish the PSP could play youtube but I heard that sony has limited the memory usage in the browser to prevent homebrew code from running which sucks.

I USE to be able to check my youtbe messages and comments on my PS3 well over a year ago hell maybe 2 years ago but after all the updates that long ago that ability to check them disapeared into a malfunction and I can't check them through my regular E-mail on the PS3 because the PS3 can't handle or "support" the E-Mail address website [my internet provider] and this really pisses me off. At least with X Box you could do all that PLUS upload your camcorder videos!!

XL is the shittiest thing they could dream up that's for damn sure. I HATE this new feature it doesn't do as much as when I'm signed in the regular youtube. Plus sometimes when I go to sign into my youtube account it will automatically go into youtube "TV" mode and I can't stop it! PLus the mode is slow to respond!!! Oh and WHY oh damn why can't I check my youtube messages and comments on even REGULAR youtube anymore?! When I click on them it tries then goes blank then I have to refresh to get youtube back with NO message!

I've just been setting up a new PS3 and 42in plasma TV for a neighbour this morning. The YouTube viewing this was giving was really quite poor. Navigating videos was really sluggish, videos including my own looked quite jerky and pixellated. Certainly nothing like the speed and performance we're seeing in this video.
I first thought it might have been the speed of their internet, but my laptop on the same 10MB cable-internet with WiFi was working with YouTube very well.
