I know it's kind of late to be watching this video but I saw Iowa in the title and I got curious. I live in Iowa and was just learning about the Iowa caucus in civics class. I didn't know a lot of stuff about it but now that I do it is really interesting. I personally think it's cool that Iowa gets the first say in the presidential elctions. It kind of makes me proud to be and Iowan
curiously, there are dimwits here who associate with blacks with homos ( there are exceptions), but the most parts, the whole idea of homosexuality is anomaly among the blacks..........
Closet bigotry loses? On the contrary, in California, blacks were the main supporters of proposition 8, banning gay marriage. Look it up on the L.A. times. They sure nailed the gay community to the wall.
It's closet bigotry because they fail to admit their own biases. When people -ANYONE- can admit their faults, are willing to move on and stop pointing fingers, then perhaps we can live in an equal society.
I know you posted this awhile ago. It's just important that people know the truth about bigotry- everyone is guilty of it- and how it can be changed because the way society is, it will never change.
I`m an norwegian woman , and Obama gives me hope for Amreica and the world in general. Keep upp the good work Joe. Must say that I like your ways. Thanx
Wow, you are a sweetheart. I can tell you haven't read up on Obama's actual tax plan, so please check out this video before you make any more comments about it:
JoeFelice at Aushwitz: "Showers? I would love a good hot shower. This place is great!" Are you insane? Do you think that in Obamas mind you will ever be any more than the face of the 'oppressor'? Racism is racism and I think those of us who dont get that are about to get a learning experience.
sashaqueenie is choosing prejudice over evidence with Iowa. Clinton won Iowa among people over 65 and among rural voters. If you're right about a "sexist state", then it's a new phenomenon of young urban Iowans being sexist while their rural parents are not.
sashaqueenie Iowa is a sexist State that has never voted a woman into high political positions.
Obama is a good man, alas, he's 8 years too early.
He needs to work under Clinton for 2 terms before he can win the election.
Begone!
---------
hillary is nothing but a neocon enabler a corporate OWNED same ole same ole politician. Obama should NOT work under her because he wants real changes not a female Dick Cheney in power. Obama in 08 NOT hypocrite Hillary
LOL! Spin it any way you want but Obama is in fact, mixed-race. Does it matter? Unfortunately, it does to those who inist on making race an issue. What will a "black president" mean to the rest of the world? I'm guessing a whole lot of nothing and why should it? You say he's the most qualified I say rubbish. NOTHING can qualify a person to be the leader of the free world. It's a different ball game.
Hey, you know who has strong opinions on what qualifies someone to be president, vaxxon1? Former presidents. And the people close to them.
I've heard this silliness before about the job being so unique that there is no legit preparation. I don't know if it's hagiographic or what, but it's bunk. The job is largely a hybrid of CEO, diplomat, and orator. If you're great at all three you should make a good president.
(We're smart to usually pick governors; they have more executive experience.)
1) And unless you say otherwise, you are neither so what's your point? Remember, I was questioning YOUR opinion. 2)Wow. Is that it? You forgot economist, general, historian, anthropologist, biologist, lawyer, etc. Bunk, eh? Yeah, you might not have drinken the Kool Aid, it's pretty clear that you've taken a few sips.
I don't understand why America is still so consumed with racism. You can't even elect a woman. It's time to stand up to the conservatives and drag your country into the 21st century with Europe.
Joe Felice makes a very valid point here. Obama would signify a massive change occuring in the United States as well as give people overseas (such as myself) a completely new view as well. The image of America suffers greatly overseas, which greatly inhibits the US from making any kind of policy changes with the help of foriegn countries. I certainly hope the rest of your country can think as intellectually as Iowans! Good luck guys!
Everybody keeps mentioning change. What change can the POTUS make? About the only thing he can do is return the troops to the US. After that, the president is basically bound by the laws of the United States. What's he going to change? Is he going to make the office hours longer and fire the post office and hire kinkos and fedex and lay off the office workers? What change? Please specify the changes to be made.
For instance, as the head of the executive branch potus does command the military. However, ranging from the highest generals down to the pepole who signed on the dotted line today, they all took an oath and that oath states that they "will support and defend the constitution".
Regardless that he commands the military, if the president orders them contrary to US law, which comes from the US Constitution, they have already swore an oath to disobey the president's unlawful order.
That still leaves him/her a very large set of choices.
There are other checks too, like appointee confirmation, but even so restrained, the president is still the single most powerful individual in the government.
I'm a bit tanked to come up with the best response to your video, but I must say this one rates highly. I typically have to vote republican (conservative) in order to maintain my rights to own firearms, but additionally the rest of the protection of my rights is sought after by some branches of the liberals. This is where I have to split with bi-partanship.
If Obama promised to keep his hands off of my rights to own firearms, I'd never think about the color of skin as potus. Duh, it's time politicians quit trying to second guess their constituents.
Ha, my last statement is flawed in that I really meant to say that I could vote Obama if he would leave the US Constitution alone.
As far his being black and running for POTUS, that would never be an issue with me. I think my posting record at you tube will bear me out that I'm not racially biased.
i'm a canadian that has lived in japan since '97, with time out for 1.5 years in india and travel throughout asia...sad but true: in japan, if you're black and american, the assumption is that you're either a soldier, an athlete or a jazz musician...
from the point of view of america's moral standing with the other 5+ billion people on this planet, the election of barack obama as president of the u.s. would be the best thing to happen in your country since 1776.
Makes a lot more sense than your previous video! :-)
I've been an Obama fan for a while, but you've shed light from a different angle. You are right, America needs him - but more so THE WORLD needs him, and the world is watching you America.
The Iowa caucus results were very telling. I like you am certain that Obama is the right person for the job...with more than 10 years experience in public office and a marvelous academic background. He inspires me and I'm convinced that he more than anyone else can advance our aspirations and unite this nation. However, as racism is so deeply rooted in this country, I was and am (though to a lesser extent now) quite skeptical of the ability of most Americans to give him fair consideration.
Well said, too true. It's not just White children but also people of color, who will no longer have the image that being of color means singing, and dance, basketball, or some other sport, but that we do have the intelligence for whatever. Plus, we need a damn good leader, competent and ready. Obama is the one.
Your lines about the impact Obama will have on the next generation as the first Black President of the United States were inspiring. I agree, last night was historic. There's still a long way to go but the future looks bright.
Its almost sad that Africa, especially South Africa, totally lacks someone like Obama. (Despite foreign impressions of him, Mandela has been sidelined, by the ANC recently.) If we did I'd be greatly inclined to go back. And I can't imagine how the sex with hillary, a woman who wants to block porn and ban good video games could be any good.
At the very least we can all agree we hate him less than Hillary. Lol if I was Bill Clinton I'd get a divorce and run with one of the other candidates just to spite her :D. Then again for all I know the sex is good :S.
I hope you get hit by a car and somehow get advanced aids and your whole family dies while your on your death bed and then you die very slowly with that greif on your mind

POTUS...
* decides whether congress needs 51% or 67% to pass a law.
* appoints judges to courts around the country
* commands the military.
* hires and fires heads at the Justice Dept, State Dept, Pentagon, CIA, EPA, FEMA...on and on, POTUS is their boss.
* sets the tone of our national conversation
JoeFelice 4 years ago
