THE job of the 1980's: Manufacturing the blue liquid used to show absorbency of tampons, diapers, napkins, etc. in TV commercials. That stuff was everywhere.
someone should bring back rotoscoping like in the 7up ad even though it is done on computers now days it's a good effect that you don't see much anymore
Man to all my homies in the hood nam sayin dey cant afford no Orkin you know how we handle roaches in da Projects? You step on them BITCHES!! lmao (I'm just saying)
Wow, I remember the Wrigley's computer spot and the Pencil Pouch Organizer! And the Dom Deluise Ziploc ad shows up on one of my tapes from April '87.
The Better World Society was apparently a Ted Turner project that didn't survive the '80s. The grown-up in that ad looks somehow familiar, though I can't place him.
The Cherry 7-Up and Ziploc ones were my favorite of this batch. Even though it's been about half a year now, it's still hard to believe Dom Deluise is gone. As someone growing up regularly watching Don Bluth animated movies, I got used to his voice pretty quickly, even if I didn't know his name for about a decade or so. RIP, Dom.
It was crazy! The market crashed in October 87. The "Crash" was only @ 500 points. The Dow can go up or down 500 points now and people don't blink an eye. today it would be equivalent to the Dow dropping @ 2000 points in a day.
I saw Dom Deluise in the preview shot for this video and I watched it just for him. The commercial is at 5:39 and it is funny. Rest in peace, Dom Deluise.
Oh,those crazy guys from 2050,with there x-ray cars, and there music beamed directly into their heads, and their hovervision, and their apple 2's, and their strange headbands...
Joey seems to have traded his 7up for some ketchup sometime in the late 80s

I wish they could somehow make pest control commercials without actually showing insects.
OB is such an 80s product-- I remember seeing their commercials all the damn time. I don't know if they even make them anymore.
That Better World Society spot is...something else.

If these 1980s commercials were any more addictive, they'd be illegal!

Wow, Joey didn't even have to say "How you doin'" to pick up the girl.
If my computer suddenly started talking to me, I'd hope it would want to discuss more interesting topics than gum.
I don't care how much milk you drink, kid, that girl is always going to be about 10 years older than you.
I love how the Orkin commercial basically says "Your kids will DIE!!!" if you don't call them.
Only 29 more years of trees!
You know what's better than Bac-os on a salad? Real bacon bits!

Dom DeLuise in those Ziploc ads *defined* the 80s, as did that "computer" in the Wrigleys Spearmint ad!
I'd watch out for bear costumed bears if I were you!
Good salad.

The Maxithins box for the win...probably the most 80s thing I've seen in almost 100 volumes!

I used to drink Cherry 7up every day at lunch in 7th grade. (1994)
lol, I thought the girls in the Johnson's baby lotion ad were going to start making out.

Orange Juice. There's nothing else like it IN THE WORLD!
Except grapefruit juice.
BTW- busy signal at Better World Society...guess they gave up since we're only 31 years away from the last tree on earth being cut down, lol!

I'm not sure if I'm just seeing things, but the Wrigley's guy looks a bit like Aaron Eckhart... or is it him and we're glossing that over?
Palmerholic 2 years ago
I don't think that's him... It doesn't look like he started acting until the early 90's. IMDB lists his first TV or Movie role as being in 1992.

The Dow number only in the 2,000s in 1988? And to think that, in today's (post-9/11) era, a Dow number below 8,000 signals a down economy...

As creepy/cultish as their commercial is, at least those Better World Society people were espousing non-governmental solutions to our problems.
For some reason orange juice with ice cubes in it grosses me out.

i loved those Milk commercials
those doublemint ads were the best ever!
the "Better World Society" sounds scarily like a cult. i wonder what would happen if you tried to dial the 800 numbers from the commercials now
i didn't know that there was a Department of Citrus
that Cherry 7up is really classic
