There's an intangible quality to all these New Year's videos...it's as if they exist in a world other than this. Jeff Mangum is the only thing that has saved my life. I met him once and he is not incredible. He is a human being. He boils his macaroni like us all. He was almost ashamed of his talent and fans. I believe he sang to save his life...but it ended up nearly costing him said life. He is, without question, my eternal, incomparable influence.

But I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't prepare much for his shows. He doesn't seem to be into the whole rock star thing - and as such I am willing to forgive him in areas where I would hold other bands to a higher standard. really, I just feel lucky to have heard anything he's created.
