driving 55mph (about 90km/h) in Germany the police might pull you over for unnecessary slow driving (also at a maximum allowed speed of 100km/h (65mp). The traffic police from state police services don't just look for speeders but also the to slow ones that also cause dangerous situations in traffic, and when causing such dangerous situation fuel (and money) savings aren't an argument any more
btw on parts of the german freeways without speed limit there's a recommened
@DeamonFighters no I mean 90. When there's a speed limit of 100km/h, and there's someone going 88 to 90 in the left lane, they can pull you over. It causes many dangerous situations, other car drivers that want to go at least the allowed 100km/h, are provoked to pass on the right. They won't pull over a truck at 90 (when passing other vehicle), but normal cars: the police does pull over!
Thank you for asking about this subject. Okay, when I drove 75 mph between two town, 250 miles per way, I paid $80.00 per way. I decided to drive 55 mph and I paid $80 round trip, I save $80.00 instead of speant $160 round trip. Get it, if you still dont understand, please dont hestiate to ask me again.

I drive 55 all the time on the freeways. Have been even before the recent gas hikes. My passengers would freak out sometimes.
