    I Work as a photographer at that track and i also have raced on it for years .

    It is known as WSID or Western Sydney International Dragway . It is Australias best drag venue . it is NOT downhill, it is quite uphill in the braking area .

    And it is the same track in both vids your posting about .

  • look at the barriers how they curve down then back up, that is what i call a down hill track, even if its off by 5 degrees its not a flat track, maybe at the end it can be uphill, that's fine, after the finish line doesn't matter what it is. How would you explain those curves, even looking down the runway you can tell it isn't flat

    compare it with "Nostalgia drag race [on-car cam]" pause the video @ 0:59, that is what straight track looks like. both shots taken @ similar angles/heights, explain

  • I find it funny how so many of you focus on ETs alone and not consider the GTRs trap speed. 11.1 is impressive indeed (mostly due to its superior AWD traction) but the 121mph trap isnt. From a roll this "tuned" GTR would still have trouble shaking off a stock Z06 as Ive personally seen stock Z06s trap in the 122-125 range. GM says the ZR1 should run 11 flat with a 130mph+ trap. And no, Im not a GM fanboy as I prefer German/Japanese imports.

  • There were only like 16 transmission situations that this happened to out of 1800 cars sold in the US. The point is that you can not purchase a stock chevy or dodge that is faster than this. The exception being the ZR1 which is much more expensive. Not only that but you can make lots of cars 1000hp for less than a gtr. To add to that Nissan isn't asking the American government for a bailout. I don't think id want to buy another American vehicle for fear the companies would go belie up on me.

    Saw it today on the Dyno at Autosalon in Melbourne and the guy mentioned that also from Nissan they said its high 11's to early 12's.

  • The GT-R obviously was not built solely for the purposes of drag racing. It's primarily engineered to out perform on a race circuit. It takes massive amounts of engineering knowledge to get a car as heavy as the GT-R to perform as extremely competently as it does on a race circuit. Anybody with a 100 IQ can take a 5.0+ liter engine and make it fast in a straight line. Nobody with a 100 IQ could engineer a car like the GT-R. The GT-R is about Japanese superior engineering.

  • The target market of the GT-R definitely wouldn't ever, under normal circumstances, drive a Mustang. Have you seen the types of people that drive Mustangs? 99% of them wouldn't even know what a G is.

  • Magazine drivers (some more than others) are notoriously bad. Especially in RWD stick car on run flats. I would expect the GT-R numbers with Auto Shifting and launch mode to be far more consistent run to run.

    There was a red GT-R in NJ that has a VIN and Cali plates, no "test mule" BS... It was running 11s right after hot lapping. The highest trap was 122 and lowest trap was 118 I believe.

  • That's very believable given the numbers these things are cranking out on the dynos. Combined with AWD and launch mode, sure. I do wonder how many hard launches it'll hold up to though? A friend spotted one near Buttonwillow not long ago. Maybe I will see one at a track someday. Yeah.

  • i agree GeorgeV6 it can do in the high 10's and its "3800lbs with 4 seats", the funny thing is, u can do this run with 4 people in it. put the "AMUSE or MINES R35" on the 1/4 or the ONE LAP AMERICA, its pretty much a wrap!

  • I don't know if you've never been to the track before, but the clock doesn't start till you cross the staging beams. You could sit there staged for a minute till you launch and this car would still have pulled an 11.1

  • the reason the launch was delayed was because hes in a bracket race and the other car is slower, so they launch the faster car last. in bracket racing they usually dont launch at the exact same time unless they both dial in the same time.

So Euro Nissan pulled in 7:29, i guess the V-Spec should be UNDER 7:20, but we'll see though. u can look up on "google" or go to the GTR website, the FIRST run on the V-Spec GTR on the Nurb was 7:25 on a wet day...

  • Is there a C&D VIR Lightning Lap of the GT-R yet. As far as magazine benchmarks go, this seems to be one of the best as it gives sector by sector analysis on a comprehensive track in the hands of multiple drivers. This I'd give a lot of credibility to. And yeah, the ACR is wicked.

    BTW, you say you have an 07 350ZTT although there aren't any actual mass produced kits for it. I'm curious as to what shop did the work because I know of a few shops that have done it so far. Whp/psi/type of dyno? And there is a REASON they are just getting TT'd 07+ Zs.

  • i have 350Z TT and Z32TT, ONLY the 350z not fully built all the way. i have a guy out near my way that can easily do it (whatever price u get he'll beat it), he does my work on my Z32 performance, he does everything in his garage, i just order the parts. im not really done with my 350Z TT i haven't touch the motor beside intake and switch my exhaust (HKS) by october or November i should be done, hopefully. Only my Z32 is finish from turbo to motor and HKS Hyper Exhaust.

  • theres no neeed to fool anybody fool, u can go to "Z1-Motorsports" out in Georgia and u can get a TT KIT from them and they're do dyno with that as well. u can look them up? u can go with HKS 2530 GT but of course u can go with GREDDY TT KIT as well or Power Enterprise TT KIT, i dunno where u get this idea of NO "MASS PRODUCED", you kind of late aren't u?? thats all they do is SPECIALIZE Z's, 350Z, and G35..anything u can do to the 350Z? u can do the same for the G35 Coupe.

  • Sorry buddy, if there were mass produced TT kits for 2007 Zs, there would be a LOT more 2007 Zs TT'd by now. Trust me I know... The 07+ doesn't even have the same motor as the 03-06 which is why I asked. I know of the kits by PE, SFR, APS, HKS, Greddy, Sound Performance, JWT, Turbonetics, Powerlab... you get the point. Don't tell me I'm late and BTW... I was at Zdayz at Z1 Motorsports party at their cabin,

  • the turbos i got for my 350Z is the Greddy TT KIT, but i haven't install it yet, im basically waiting for the warranty is up. thats even better for me cuz, i just need a few more things and im good. im already done with my 96'Z32TT, i have a different turbo set up than the 350Z. i have the 2530 GT turbos in it. to many modds to list, but u get the picture. check out "Z1-Motorsport", they also have deals and stuff..

  • Built bottom end and cams, not sure what the comp is though. Possibly 8.5 or 9.5 but that's just pump gas... no meth injection. He doesn't feel the need to get a race gas tune lol. If you click my username, I have a video that I recorded for him. Super nice car and very fast.

  • I'd be curious to know the build stats. The numbers don't quite work in my head. To get to that kind of WHP on a Z motor, you'd need something like >= 30psi? You aren't doing that on pump gas. LOL.

  • Negative, we don't drive Hondas :D

    Typical build really, pistons, rods, nonsleeved block, and aftermarket cams and stock heads. He daily drives on 10psi though so somewhere around 475whp.

  • Hey I know some 900WHP 1.8L Hondas . . . on 50lbs. LOL.

    The magic must be in the cams. 10psi on the stock 350Z isn't going to put you anywhere near 475WHP.

  • I can show you the dyno from 6psi to 15psi if you'd like. I've ridden in this car plenty of times and he's practically my best friend. The shop that did the work is one of the best 350Z shops in the US. Cams do help a good bit for boosted Zs :)

    I can also show you a stroked Z making 600hp at 10psi if you'd like :p

  • well thats good then, i prolly won't get my that high anyway, i just don't like leaving it stock so, i haven't even put it in yet so its all good though. i got this Greddy Kit from a friend like a month and half ago, it still fresh. only my Z32 is good, im not going to put to much money into it, just a few upgrade here and there so thats it for me, i still have low miles in it, i barely even touch the car. good looking out though, i thought all motor was the same from 03-07'.

  • No problem... the 07+ motor seems like it will be beastly boosted compared to the older motors. My roommate has a Z32TT :)

  • Who cares about the 1/4 anyway... at least the GT-R handles it own when it comes to the twisties. Considering all this talk about the Z06... I'd like one of you to tell me that you've personally ran a 10 in stock Z06... I'm sure most of you can't drive worth a crap anyway.

  • There are only a couple great drivers who've hit high 10s in a stock C6Z. But it has been done, on run flats no less. The average C6Z runs mid 11s in the low 120s. My guess is that a heads up race in the 1/4 between an average GT-R and C6Z would be neck and neck. If it were a high speed run, the Vette would walk it past the quarter (even the mags say that). Courses will depend very heavily on the actual course, driver and tires. We'll see. Hopefully some of the GT-R fans will actually run them.

  • Thank you... finally a realistic post (being I didn't read much). When do people realize that just because a few people ran a certain time doesn't mean that it is the norm. It at least shows the capability of the car, unfortunately driver skill is the most important thing.

  • to be honest with ya? in the VA/DC area, u can't even hit above 65-70mph around here, (TOO MANY STATE TROOPER) let say if the GTR was racing a Vette in the highwahy?? if the GTR is leading after a mile?? i would slow down, cuz theres no point of killing myself u know? the Vette can keep racing against itself, and hit top speed all it want, but im not getting pulled over. of course the limit top speed is 193mph, with HKS ECU..u can surpass 193 to ALL the way up to 220mph EASILY.

  • Fanboy, now you're betraying your ignorance. The GT-R top speed is redline limited, not power limited. More power, and you'll get to 193 faster, but you won't go faster. Upping the factory set engine redline is asking for disaster. The strength of the GT-R in straight line acceleration is from a dig with its launch control and AWD, from a roll, the Z walks it. This is based strictly on mag numbers (suspicious as they are).

ALL of them telling the same shit, if u can do any better, maybe u should go around ask for Z06 and borrow from a owner and prove US GTR fans wrong? of course everything is limited for a reason, and Nissan say, the stock set up is the perfect set up? of course u have companys like MINES, AMUSE, TOP SECRET, MCR, HKS, GREDDY, NISMO, will DECODE that, its already been done..

  • Rotating assemblies have maximum potential rotation speeds before they come apart. If you just go and arbitrarily up the redline set by the manufacturer you're asking the engine to self destruct. I encourage you to test this on your car if you don't believe me. As for the mags, I remember a number of times when stated HP and performance ratings from the Mags turned out to be . . . mmm, less than accurate in production models.

  • im sure im not going to kill the GTR engine as soon i sit in the car. Before the GTR is sold to its owner, Nissan TEST EVERY GTR on the track, making sure the car is breaking in well, as for the GTR engine BREAKING APART?? im sure it will last LONGER than a Vette engine. and as for HP figures on the GTR? just check out "R35 Dynoed" by MotorTrend on youtube..with drivetrain efficency, with 15% loss the GTR is pushing over 507HP and with 25% loss, the GTR is pushing over 570HP and 560lb-ft..

  • Why are you sure it'll last longer than a Vette engine? Have they been in the field for 10+ years? As for HP, you mean that it's putting out more than the advertised 480BHP (a LOT more)? Why is Nissan lying in its advertised specs? The days when this worked with insurance companies are long gone. Will the customer cars get these HP levels? You're going to get one right? I'll set up a race for you.

  • MOST "ALL" Nissan V6 Engine LAST longer than a Chevy engine, its the MASTER of "V6". from the Nissan 300ZX (VG30DETT) to the Nissan Skyline GTR R32-R34 (RB26DETT) last over 10 years and still running strong. Nissan been lying about their HP configuration for a long time now and u now just notice this?? even R34 owners dyoned got well over 350-400HP even with "gentlement agreement 280HP", even the 300ZXTT (90-95)(300HP) was whoopin on the Vettes back in the days.

  • Where's your data for durability? There are plenty of GenI V8s that have been on the road for more than 30 (hard) years. I personally know of LS motors well beyond 100,000 miles that are driven hard. There was an article in C&D (Maybe R&T) about a Vette Mule that had over 100,000 miles in just a couple years, many from laps at the Ring and hard launches all on the same driveline. Then they took on a tour of dirt roads in Alaska (more like Rally). Problems were none.

  • Yeah, not many. But there are things like 0-200-0 at the Silver State Classic, or flat out top speed at Bonneville, etc. Nissan was brilliant in their gearing and tire selection.

  • Yes ALL GTR owners who own the GTR will have more than 480HP even though its advertise as 480HP. i feel like, the reason Nissan lied about their HP is becuz, MORE HP configuration MORE MONEY on the GTR, the Chief of Nissan said.."the GTR is for the people, not just for HIGH END people, we doing this for the people, i don't understand why the SuperCars Company is over pricing their cars" Jap Spec stock boost (10.2) and U.S & Euro Spec has (11.8). 480HP is rated on the flywheel i belive..

  • Well, so much "for the people". Markups are looking like they'll be between 20,000 - 50,000 USD. That puts it way beyond Vette prices and up towards Turbo Porsche prices. If Nissan was serious about "for the people", they would have made more than 2,500 a year for the US. It's a halo car pure and simple.

  • C'mon u know the Dealer is going to make their money? what do u expect?? Carlos Ghosen said it during his GTR Promo Tour, said the GTR is going to be 71k Top of Line, and go on sale in US Market by June 1. its not his fault if the Dealer decide to make an extra 15-20k, overall its going to be close to 100k. look at the Z06 price overseas? the Z06 is WAAY expensive in Japan, nearly 150k, and the GTR is EVEN ChEAPER in Japan, so it depend where u are in the States.

  • Corvette prices over seas are almost completely because of import Tariffs. This I know for a fact. The US does not have Socialist import tarrifs and hence similar pricing to origin. I don't blame dealers for marking them up here. Just that if Nissan really wanted to build an everyman's supercar, they'd build a lot more of them. It's a halo car intended to support the brand. I get it. Corvettes, however, are made in much larger numbers and truly affordable to the middle class.

  • yea i feel ya, since u out in California?? theres a couple owners who own the R35 GTR. check out "R35 J-Spec in the US" its on Youtube, the guy who owns it is in L.A, its a Black Color R35, maybe you'll run into someday.....

Also the Nissan 300ZXTT holds the Top Speed at Bonneville back then, as for me getting the R35?? i'll waited out for alittle cuz thousands still haven't got theirs yet, so im cool for rite now with my MODD 96'Z32TT & 07 350ZTT. as for u setting a place and time to race when i do get a GTR? im not going to waste my time looking for U, u can catch me out at I-95
