@KaroandEk All stereotypes are annoying but I know why gamers are often stereotyped as fat, I've been guilty of the Ramen and Mountain Dew diet which can really pack on the weight. Sitting for 10 hours in front of a TV isn't healthy either. That's why I love interactive games like DDR and some Wii games and now I try to maintain a healthy diet.

I can understand your reaction. On the flip side it's quite annoying when I used to watch gamer programs years ago and they'd have an attractive woman who obviously didn't play games to any extent and they'd try to pass her off as a gamer. A few years ago I used to be a computer game tester and the stereotypes almost made me laugh - everyone tried to compete and show the testosterone.
After working there a while I think the fact that I tended to win more than lose, rubbed them up the wrong way. One day they put me on a beat'em up pitted against one of the three girls (amongst hundreds of men) who worked there - I hate beat'em ups and sure enough I started to lose consistently. I'd noticed that my supervisor and another supervisor were conspicuously standing together watching and I twigged what was happening.
It was their way of putting me down. After this was was continuing for hours, I got fed up and observed her for tactics and discovered..... button mashing. I discovered that if I looked intently at the screen and button mashed within reason It looked like I was playing tactically and could win 2/3 matches (don't ask me how). Such a shame when I turned around and noticed their smiles had faded.

UT has always been good for both male and female characters, same with bethesda and blizzard. People are actually starting to realise that a lot of females actually do want to play fps's and I think more people are waking up, we have way more options than we did.

I can understand your reaction. On the flip side it's quite annoying when I used to watch gamer programs years ago and they'd have an attractive woman who obviously didn't play games to any extent and they'd try to pass her off as a gamer. A few years ago I used to be a computer game tester and the stereotypes almost made me laugh - everyone tried to compete and show the testosterone.

After working there a while I think the fact that I tended to win more than lose, rubbed them up the wrong way. One day they put me on a beat'em up pitted against one of the three girls (amongst hundreds of men) who worked there - I hate beat'em ups and sure enough I started to lose consistently. I'd noticed that my supervisor and another supervisor were conspicuously standing together watching and I twigged what was happening.

It was their way of putting me down. After this was was continuing for hours, I got fed up and observed her for tactics and discovered..... button mashing. I discovered that if I looked intently at the screen and button mashed within reason It looked like I was playing tactically and could win 2/3 matches (don't ask me how). Such a shame when I turned around and noticed their smiles had faded.
